ON THE MENU WEEK OF FEBRUARY 12TH
Do you watch Chopped? I’m obsessed with it. Oh, I would hate the pressure and the tricky food but I love the competition and creativity. I have the cooking channel on in the background when I’m making dinner or cleaning! Now if only I could acquire some of those unbelievable culinary skills by osmosis! Here’s what’s on the menu this week…
MONDAY- HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY
Bobby and I don’t go out for Valentine’s Day. Restaurants are notorious for using this day as a big moneymaker. It’s all about getting diners in and out! So tonight Bobby and I will stay home and have a romantic bowl of soup together.
My new favorite soup is Spinach Tortellini Soup! It is so delicious and so easy to make. What a winning combination.
This soup is so hearty and filling! If you make one thing this week, give this soup a try.
I think this soup tastes best with a big slice of bread slathered with butter. I’m making the easiest bread ever! Butter Topped Beer Bread is another super easy recipe with lots of yummy flavors!
As a little girl, I lived across the pond and really good fish and chips became a way of life. Nowadays I don’t enjoy this old favorite as often as I did but once in a while, fish and chips bring back all those wonderful memories of being a girl living in Scotland and England.
This beautiful recipe is from Lovefoodies.
WEDNESDAY- COMPANY’S COMING
A ribeye steak is hands down the best steak you can eat. And I’m not sure why people think it is so hard to make. Steak done right is not only easy but so so sexy!!!!
- PAN- SEARED RIBEYE STEAK
- TWICE-BAKED POTATOES
- PERFECTLY ROASTED ASPARAGUS
- CHOCOLATE COVERED STRAWBERRIES
I’m sorta into “bowls”. A fun way to eat everything together. I adore Maple Soy sauce on salmon!
Don’t these taquitos look scrumptious? And they are a Weight Watcher recipe! YUM!
The flavor profile of this salad is in my wheelhouse. What a great healthy dinner! I’ll be adding anchovies.
- ANTIPASTA DINNER SALAD
- CRUSTY BREAD
Parmesan crusted chicken should be in everyone’s recipe box. It is so easy to make and goes with so much!!!!! And did I mention it is so tasty?
TREAT OF THE WEEK
Oh, I love a good white cake. And this one is gorgeous! Once in a blue moon, I will actually bake a cake. I can’t wait!

Wow, Yvonne, great menus this week. I am going to have to try those fish and chips! Yum. Also the anti pasta salad just fits the bill for a Saturday evening.
Yum – I just got hungry! love the white layered cake – that’s my daughter’s favorite cake is a vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. I always call that just a good ole birthday cake. But it’s great for any occasion. I found several recipes here I am printing off and adding to my favorite cookbook.
Love the menu choices this week, saved several. Hoping to try the fish and chips tool!
We are obsessed with Chopped as well! We flip back ‘n forth between the foodnetwork and hgtv (can’t get enough of Fixer Upper, we’ve seen all episodes multiple times!).
