5.) If you are intimidated at all by decorating your mantel for Christmas, I feel your pain! We have a very big TV over our mantel, and I’ve been looking for ideas on how to tackle the job. The mantel ideas in this post are simple and beautiful. If you don’t have a TV over your mantel, this design is stunning. If you want a pop of red, take a look at this traditional and lovely Colonial mantel. Here is our mantel from last year…for 2023 I’m going to use the same garland, and my goal is to create a design that’s simple, yet welcoming and festive!

6.) RESHARE: I came across this recipe for Cranberry Almond Thanksgiving Slaw and thought it looked delicious. One of my girlfriends made this Million Dollar Dip for a get-together we had, and I have one word to describe it. Addicting!

A FEW OF MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY FINDS: this cozy knit throw blanket that looks like a candy cane, this home for the holidays doormat (I ordered the big one), these hanging gold Christmas bells, these darling monogrammed felted stockings, this Christmas tree lidded mug. and this velvet sherpa tree applique pillow cover (I’ve had mine for 3 years and they are worth the investment!)

1). If you were to pay a visit and knock on my front door, you would bring a smile to my face, albeit tinged with embarrassment. I’d invite you inside, and you would be greeted with holiday chaos! My home is topsy-turvy and in a state of joyful mayhem. I am decorating for Christmas.

Naturally, I would offer you a cup of coffee while I’m apologizing for the mess as we make our way to the kitchen. There, you’d discover a plethora of over a hundred dried oranges covering my kitchen countertops and baking pans stacked in the sink. I’m experimenting with recipes for the blog. The oranges would interest you, and you would comment that these dried oranges look so vibrant! I would share the secret for Dried Oranges retaining their beautiful color and add that a delicious gingerbread from a box mix will be on the blog on Friday. Then we would have a lovely chat, a cup of coffee and some gingerbread.

2. Amazon Finds: Here are my favorites from Amazon this week. 

3. I love this easy recipe for Roasted Brussels Sprouts With Feta Cheese: Trim 16 oz of Brussels sprouts and cut them in half. Preheat the oven to 400°. Put 1 tsp of olive oil in the bottom of an 8×8 baking dish. Add 6 oz of crumbled feta cheese to the pan, distributing evenly. Place the Brussels sprouts, cut side down, in a single layer in the dish. Push them down into the feta. Melt 1 TBS butter and mix it with 1 TBS olive oil. Brush the mixture over the Brussels sprouts and sprinkle them with a little salt or seasoning salt. Drizzle 2 TBS of balsamic glaze over the sprouts and bake for 25 minutes. Let the Brussels sprouts rest for 5-10 minutes and enjoy.

9. Fun And Interesting Facts: What is the first full moon in November called? Which turkey has a gobbler, the males or females?

10. Recipes For Late Fall And Thanksgiving: Easy Cranberry Orange Sauce will be on our Thanksgiving table. Delicious Pumpkin Spice Cake with a Maple Glaze is made from a box mix. So easy! And Easy To Make Simmering Potpourri smells of cinnamon and cloves and oranges. Add fresh cranberries and a few sprigs of rosemary or evergreen to give it a holiday flair.

Answer to #9: The first full moon in November on the 19th at 3:59 am is called the Beaver moon. Named in colonial times for the full moon under which trappers put out beaver traps before the swamps were frozen, and the beavers spent the winters in their lodges. This is a trick question. Both males and females have gobblers. Males are called toms, and females are called hens. Now you know.
