Does your menu change with the season? Mine does. Granted we can get delicious off-season food but I love to shop our local farm markets for what is being harvested right now. We still have a garden full of overproducing tomatoes and our leeks are amazing. So I’m serving tomatoes at almost every meal! Hopefully next week I’ll be sharing a beautiful leek and potato soup. YUM! for now here’s what’s on the menu this week…
Need ideas for dinner this week? Here are some delicious recipes!
MONDAY
I’m looking so forward to this Tex-Mex casserole. I bet this main dish will taste even better the next day. Lunch! YUM! Thank you, Stacey, at Southern Bites for a wonderful Fajita Chicken Casserole!
TUESDAY
This is such a gorgeous recipe. You can use any white fish if you cannot find Barramundi. I love “bowls”. They are an all-in-one bowl dinner. Thanks, Pinch of Yum for this scrumptious recipe.
- GARLIC BASIL BARRAMUNDI SKILLET
- CRUSTY BREAD
WEDNESDAY
I’ve been looking forward to making this amazing looking asparagus dish! I could probably eat this all by itself for dinner! And maybe I will! Thank you Seasons And Suppers for what I know will be a favorite recipe!
- STEAKS ON THE GRILL
- CREAMY ASPARAGUS AND CHEDDAR BAKE
- SLICED GARDEN TOMATOES
THURSDAY
I love turkey but it can be d-r-y! That is why I also love Feast And Farm because Rachel shows us how to make a turkey breast that is succulent and juicy! I’ll thinly slice the leftovers and use them in salads and sandwiches and take the carcass and make soup.
Don’t wait for Thanksgiving to enjoy a scrumptious turkey dinner!
- ROAST TURKEY WITH SALT BRINE AND HERBS
- SOUTHERN CORNBREAD DRESSING
- ARUGULA SALAD WITH SHAVED PARMESAN AND PINE NUTS IN A LEMON VINAIGRETTE
FRIDAY
Our family loves salmon cakes. Especially when they are made with fresh salmon. Another beautiful recipe from Julia at Vikalinka. I have never made them with any sauce. Oh, this looks amazing!
- SALMON CAKES WITH CREAM WHITE WINE SAUCE
- ROASTED GREEN BEANS WITH BACON
SATURDAY
I’ve made this pot roast for decades tweaking it along the way. Not only is this easy to make but it is a wonderful family meal. Delicious, filling and so satisfying! I hope you will try it this week. This is an old recipe so the image is not that great but the recipe is a big winner!
- PERFECT POT ROAST
- SLICED GARDEN TOMATOES
SUNDAY
TREAT OF THE WEEK
I have some overripe bananas in the freezer. Yes, I freeze them right in their skins. So they will go into this wonderful banana cake this week. Thanks, Serena Bakes!
Hope you have a scrumptious week!

Yvonne, I really enjoy you posting these recipes for us. I know it takes a lot of time for you to do this, but I love reading through them, and picking a favorite or two to try! (My family especially loves that cranberry onion beef recipe that you posted a while back at the holidays. Oh my gosh, it is delicious!! I also make it with a pork roast or tenderloin sometimes, and we can’t get enough of it.) So, thank you for your On the Menu posts!! Tina
Yummmmmm, I made your perfect pot roast last night and can’t say enough about how good it was. So flavorful and tender. My husband isn’t usually a big pot roast fan, but even he was impressed. He actually made sure I had saved the recipe for future use! Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh my goodness!! What to make first?
“On the Menu” is one of my favorite features on your blog. It’s so wonderful when you feel you’re in a rut to not only have new ideas but the links to take you straight there.
Thank you muchly, ~Z
Yvonne, I’ making your perfect pot roast this week. Yesterday, I made the salmon recipe you shared from Diethood in the past. It’s the recipe with cherry tomatoes and spinach in a Parmesan cream sauce. Deee-licious! I enjoy reading your “On the Menu Week” blogs and preparing them. Please continue sharing.
I’m looking forward to trying your pot roast, Yvonne! That looks amazing and such a great meal for cooler fall weather.
Thanks for sharing!
