ON THE MENU DECEMBER 11TH

ON THE MENU- I'll do the menu planning and give you a week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

Christmas is so thick in the air here at StoneGable I swear I am breathing in tinsel! This year decorating my home has been a process and not a race. A little every day. And I’ve really enjoyed taking my time decorating each room!  Today I’m putting the finishing touches on my foyer. Bringing in holly clippings from our big holly tree. Make sure you stop by on Monday to see my Christmas Foyer! You can see a peak of my foyer below. But now let’s see what’s On The Menu…

SUNDAY- BOOK CLUB DINNER

I’m hosting our annual Book Club dinner at StoneGable tonight. I’ll be serving a Honey Baked Ham from Costco. YUM! And all the girls in our book club will bring side dishes and dessert!  I can’t wait.  Our book club is now going on its 8th year! We meet every other month so we have read 42 books together!

If you are not in a book club you might want to think about starting one. It has really expanded my literary taste. Something that would not have happened if not for book club!

  • Honey Baked Ham
  • Pineapple Casserole
  • Baked Corn (look for this recipe right after Christmas)
  • Coleslaw
  • Green Bean Salad
  • Salad
  • And More!

MONDAY

We love salmon here at StoneGable… and Nani’s Sautéed rice! It’s nice to have a lighter dinner after the big one we will have on Sunday!

ON THE MENU- I'll do the menu planning and give you a week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

TUESDAY

Do you send Christmas cards? I must admit it’s kind of hit or miss with me. But this year the family was together at Thanksgiving and we took pictures at the Washington DC Arboretum. And they became our 2016 Christmas cards!  It’s not too late to send out Christmas cards, at least to those you are close to!

ON THE MENU- I'll do the menu planning and give you a week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

WEDNESDAY

I am not faint of heart when it comes to testing recipes. My philosophy is if the meal flops there is always pizza!  Don’t be afraid to try new things.  This chili is new to me and it sounds so so good!  Will you be daring enough to try it?

ON THE MENU- I'll do the menu planning and give you a week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

  • Chili
  • Buttermilk Cornbread

THURSDAY

Just want to give you a head’s up that I’ll be opening my virtual front door and lighting all the candles and plugging in the Christmas lights for a CHRISTMAS NIGHT’S tour next Thursday, December 22nd! You are all invited!

Here is my CHRISTMAS NIGHT’S TOUR from last year!

If you make one thing on this week’s menu it should be these! Killer Fajitas are just that… killer!

ON THE MENU- I'll do the menu planning and give you a week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

  • Killer Fajitas
  • Refried Beans
  • Fixings- Shredded Lettuce, Cheese, Diced Tomatoes, Sour Cream

FRIDAY

Did you see my WINTER WHITE CHRISTMAS TABLE? It’s snowy and filled with trees of all sizes. Come and visit! Each year I try to create a different Christmas table. I must admit I think last year’s BOXWOOD AND STARS CHRISTMAS TABLE was my favorite!

I made this Minestrone soup ahead and let all the flavors marry. Now it’s simply perfect to eat! YUM! This is a soup that eats like a meal. I often double the ground beef to make it extra hardy for my boys.

ON THE MENU- I'll do the menu planning and give you a week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

SATURDAY

One week until Christmas Eve! Christmas week is my favorite week of the year! It just “feels” holy to me! I try to get most of what Christmas prep is going to get done by today so I can settle in and enjoy the whole week before Christmas!  If it’s not done by now it probably does not have to get done!

Gone are the days that I’m running around aiming for the “perfect” Christmas. Give yourself permission to breathe and let it go! Enjoy the real reason for Christmas!

These little hand pies are soooooo delicious and puff pastry makes them easy to put together!

ON THE MENU- I'll do the menu planning and give you a week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

Here’s hoping you have a delicious week!

Love the menu! I always used to make a menu every week when the kids were here. I still do, mostly in my head, now that they are grown. I do get in a rut, so this was just what I needed. We’ll be eating much of the same this week. Ha! I love reading your blog, although this is the first time to comment. Everything looks beautiful and oh so festive. I take it room by room as well and enjoy it as I go. Looking forward to seeing more!

  9. Don’t do either of two things when you are hungry… go grocery shopping or look at Stone Gable’s “On the Menu” blog!

  16. Fajitas are one of my favourite weekends meals. I stir fry my chicken, then add the veggie and take it off before they get soft. I’m going to add olives next time.
I’ve never worked with puff pastry. Always been a little afraid of it, I think it’s time to put on my big girl panties and make these.
May I make a suggest? I would love it if you included your book club reads and a short review.

    1. Wait till you try it! It is so easy Joanne. It get’s a little addictive!

  28. I will be trying the brocolli and cheese pies. They look yummy! Being a vegetarian I’m always looking for new and hearty recipes.I make a killer veg. chili with 4 kinds of beans. Very hearty!!

  29. Have I told you how excited I am that you are posting your recipes again? I missed them! And I so appreciate your beautiful presentation! I enjoy cooking…however, I don’t have the presentation down…it tastes good, but not so pretty to look at, haha. Also, I have recently joined a book club and love it! 33. Thanks again Yvonne for bringing your menus back. They help me plan my upcoming week. I also like your daily comments they to help with my weekly “to do” list.
Next week Killer Faijas, Minestrone, Hand Pies will be on my menu.

  34. Yvonne, I am going to try your chili recipe, but I was wondering whether it turns out to be very spicy-hot or more mild? I don’t like very hot/spicy food, so I tho’t I’d ask in case I need to adjust any of the spices when I make it.
I think it was really clever to “edit” five different recipes to come up with your own.

Can’t wait to see the next installment of your Christmas house tour!
