Don’t just plunk a vase of flowers on the table… make it a part of a little vignette! It’s so much prettier! Put everything in a basket. Summer is the time for baskets! How pretty would this look on the center of your kitchen table?

Grab a basket and start corraling!

I bet you have more flower vases in your home than you think! Open your cabinet and take out a pretty drinking glass, wine flute, mason jar, white pitcher or mug. Many things can become a darling foil for flowers. Even a beautifully decorated can of tomatoes… emptied and washed out of course!

Our hydrangeas are having a banner year this year and they are perfect for picking! Hydrangeas are unfussy and very old fashioned to me so a fancy glass vase would not do. I found this stout pitcher to add to my collection and it was begging to be filled with these budding hydrangeas!

Using fabric in a vignette brings in an element of softness, texture, and color! Use napkins or a pretty dish towel (that’s what I did) or a length of fabric with the ends turned under. Because I like a very tight color palette I chose a blue and white dish towel to accent the vignette and create a pretty patterned bottom to the basket!

Change out the fabric as the colors of the flowers you use changes.

When you find attractive dish towels that would work with your home decor and dishes buy them and save them to use as a part of a vignette or as table runners! I keep mine in a plastic box in the kitchen to use on the kitchen table. And no, I don’t dry dishes with them!

Now is the time to pull your favorite dishes out of your cupboards and let them be part of a summery vignette! My white dishes are the real star of this vignette. Different patterned dishes with interesting edges. And don’t you love those sweet little pitchers? I collect them so I’m giving them a turn being a part of this vignette!

My favorite blue and white dishes may show up here next week! Who knows?

Adding a little candlelight makes a vignette glow warm and welcoming in the evening. I love using lanterns. This old lantern has seen better days but still looks good enough to work in this charming summer vignette.

I use a battery operated candle that looks very very real and is on a timer. No need to wonder if I blew it out!

Now you know my 5 easy steps for creating a summery kitchen vignette. Pick some flowers and begin creating!!!!

What are your favorite summer flowers?

Within 10 mins of listening it shows error on page and then has to reload. I have to go back to find the one I was listening to only to find it went back to the beginning of the segment and then have to find my place again. I wish it didn’t do that as I am loving listening to you ladies talk. Feels like I’m in the room with y’all. 🙂

They will be back in stock in March. Go here:https://rstyle.me/n/deyx9zb6by7 to get on their waiting list. These chairs are sooooo well made, comfortable and the styling is beautiful.
