PLANS TO DECORATE A PATIO

It’s time to decorate a patio! Our patio! Yay! Right now it is a clean slate and I love a clean slate to work with! Our patio is tucked under our sunroom so it has a roof. And it opens up to beautiful views of our country golf course. Today I’m sharing our basic plans for this pretty little area!

The inspiration for our patio are these two substantial chairs we brought with us from Stonegable…

The chairs have deep comfy navy and white cushions and they are the color inspiration for the patio!

Because blue and white can look a bit nautical I added caramel and a touch of spring green to the color palette.

Our patio is not huge! About 14 X 14. So I’m pretty sure not everything will fit. I might need to find another option for a coffee table.

So I created a vision board to have a good visual perspective as I decorate this outdoor living space!

I think one of the most fun parts of decorating is creating a vision board to help me see all the decor and how it works together before it is actually a reality!

Do you create a vision (or mood) board before you decorate? You should try it if you don’t.

There are so many pretty things to decorate a patio with! It was hard to choose!

But here’s what I’m thinking right now…

The porch has a ceiling so our decorating plans include stringing outdoor party lights across it. And maybe we will add a modern ceiling fan too.

The side of the patio opened to the golf course gets evening sun so we are also looking into some type of solar shade to pull up and down. Preferably on a remote!

The idea in my head is to line up pretty pots filled with flowers and herbs on the sitting walls.

I think they will make such a wow factor backdrop for the sofa and chairs!

I have a couple of these handsome blue pots filled with spring flowers on my front porch. I’ll probably get a few more and mix them with taller black ones.

You can see my blue pots HERE.

Here are some of the items we are using on our patio…

I always look forward to your Blog!!! Love your inspiration!!

  2. Love the colors and ideas. How did you make your digital vision board? I would like to try this for my kitchen! Thanks for keeping me motivated and inspired during these shelter in days.

    1. Hi Lynette, I made it on PicMonkey. Hope this helps. Another option is to create a Pinterest board of what you like. I often do that when I decorate!

  3. Yvonne,
Great plans! We have a Sunsetter Awning which we love! It is remotely operated. I just got an advertisement from them advertising Easy Shade Solar Screens. I’m not sure that’s what you need or want, but you might find out if they have a representative in your area and read reviews.
    Happy Decorating!

Hi. Love your designs. You have been my inspiration for years. Is there anyway to keep outside pillows secure? I love having a lot of throw pillows but the slightest breeze sends them to my neighbors house. I hate to keep bringing them inside when I leave the porch.

    1. I know! I bring my pillows in and out. It is a bit of a pain, but they are so important!

Yvonne, thanks for sharing your patio plans with us! It’s going to be so lovely once you have everything in place. That brick sitting wall is going to be so nice with your beautiful pots full of flowers! Your blue planters are beautiful with all your flowers blooming! So pretty! You will be glad that you brought your two chairs with you as they are so nice and look so comfy! You and Bobby will really enjoy your time out there! Bless you!
