1. MASON JARS
No doubt about it, Mason jars are a farmhouse staple! New or vintage they bring a farm-to-table feel!
Change up everyday drinking glasses for mason jars. Use them for flowers. Keep them on a vintage drying rack. Put tea lights in them as little lanterns. Just keep them in sight and use them!
Burlap makes a huge farmhouse statement! Just a little bit goes a long way in creating a rustic farmhouse feel! I use a loose weave burlap on my soapstone island to bring lots of farmhouse charm to a big space!
3. GALVANIZED METAL
Galvanized is quintessential farmhouse!
Once used for it’s sturdiness and utility, it now is used for it’s charm! Even things like vintage chick feeders can be repurposed into a wonderful farmhouse vignette… Oil cans into watering cans… and olive baskets into planters! Here I’ve used two galvanized buckets to hold garden flowers! Click HERE to see an easy way to age new galvanized metal.
Lanterns bring a farmhouse glow to any home! Use them as a part of a vignette, group them or hang them! Nothing says cozy like a gorgeous lit lantern!
Don’t you love the look and feel of wooden bowls? My favorite way to use them is to fill them up with seasonal decor! Forget the dough…
6. WHITE DISHES
This is my farmhouse obsession! I adore white dishes. Don’t keep them in your cupboards… get them out and decorate with them!!! White dishes are so easy to collect. Both new and vintage play so well together! Stack them and display them for pretty farmhouse style!
I have a stool in almost every room in my farmhouse! My favorite stools are painted with interesting seats, like my granola recipe on this stool!! Use them to sit on, as a small side table next to a chair, or how about a plant stand!
Indoor and outdoor, chippy benches look like they came right out of a farmhouse! My favorite way to use them is to make a rustic vignette on the bench seat! They can be pulled up the a table or put at the foot of a bed. Anyway you use them is the right farmhouse way!
9. WIRE BASKETS
Wire baskets remind me of the gathering baskets farmers used to collect eggs! But we don’t have to have the real thing to make a farmhouse statement. Instead of eggs my basket holds vintage ironstone pitchers and wooden spoons! Don’t you love the rustic finish on the basket?
Vintage or new, scales are a farmhouse must-have! Most farmhouse kitchens had one! Mine is new because I actually use it to measure flour when I bake. I think I just might start collecting them. I’m looking for red scales! So cute!
These are just 10 of many elements that can bring a little farmhouse style to your home. Easy to find and incorporate into almost any decor, these items will give your home that warm and inviting farmhouse feel!
