Yvonne, As always you on right on target when you talk about trusting our eyes when trying to get scale and proportion correct. I had a newly purchased lantern which I place on a cabinet using the rule of three with two objects on one side and the lantern on the other. I wasn’t happy with the placement and finally after leaving it for a couple of days I,realized the lantern was too big. Moved it to out on my front porch and it is perfect and placed a smaller object on the cabinet. Thankyou for reminding me to always change things around till our eyes are happy!

  2. I love the phrase “negative space”. So many people either on blogs or that I know personally have so much stuff on their walls, shelves, etc. We all have a personal style of course, but I have tried to figure out a balance of a no clutter look while still expressing my personality and style by injecting some unique pieces in our home. My style has evolved over the years going from colonial, to now a blend of classic and transitional.

    1. Hi Lyn, negative space is so important it gives our eyes a rest! I love that your home is evolving! Just like everything else in life our homes should reflect how we live today and what we love!
