Tips For Decorating A Christmas Bedroom

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas around our home! I’ve been decorating a Christmas bedroom to share with you! It’s cozy and warm and has lots of ideas you can use when it’s time to decorate you bedroom too! Welcome to our ONE ROOM CHRISTMAS TOUR!

I’m so thrilled to be a part of this pretty ONE ROOM CHRISTMAS TOUR!

My blogging friends are featuring one room of our home all dressed up for Christmas! Please visit them at the bottom of the post.

It’s all about the master bedroom today!

Let’s talk about 7 things you can do to make a bedroom in your home Christmas ready!

Keep It Simple

Christmas can be a very hectic time so we want one space that is uncluttered and serene and peaceful! Your bedroom should be a sanctuary!

Decorating a bedroom for Christmas should have some decor that nods to the season but don’t go overboard!

Think simple and tidy! Keep paths you walk free of Christmas clutter!

I brought in some packages to wrap and they looked so pretty on the bed I arranged them a bit and took pictures with them. Usually, I would not have packages on the floor by the bed.

Choose Cozy Bedding

It’s fun to change up or add some pretty and cozy bedding to your bed at Christmas! Add light layers for warmth and comfort. And add a pretty new duvet or quilt to the bottom of your bed!

We are not duvet people. I find them heavy. Instead, we opted for a couple of quilts.

I got this velvet quilt last year. It is so soft and warm.

DON’T FORGET THE PILLOWS

There is nothing quite like pillows to set the tone for a room. So when it comes to decorating a Christmas bedroom, add lots of pillows! For our Christmas bedroom, I added two large Euro Sham pillows with a snowflake design and a long Mongolian pillow to add a luxe look to the bed.

The citron velvet color lumbar pillow pays homage to the accent color I’m using throughout my home this season!

The pillow that looks like little snowballs is one I bring out almost every year when the weather gets cold. The cheetah pillows make an appearance on our bed and other soft furnishings in our home.

And don’t forget to add a pretty throw to a Christmas bedroom too!

One Pretty Arrangement

If you have the space, add one pretty Christmas arrangement to a Christmas bedroom!

Here are some ideas that will work in a bedroom…

  • a basket or container of greens
  • a bowl of ornaments, greens, and fairy lights
  • a poinsettia
  • orchid plant
  • a bowl of scented pinecones
  • flowers and greens

I made an easy arrangement to go in the white ginger jar that sits on my vanity. At the base, I added a big vintage-looking metallic ball and a votive candle.

This room is such a hard room to photograph. We have one large window in our master that floods light in all day long. It’s so pretty in real life, but it’s a mess to photograph.

You can see my vanity HERE and the stool HERE. And see the CHEETAH RUG HERE.

Hang A Wreath

Christmas is all about wreaths, so add one to your bedroom. Hang one above your bed at the foot of your bed, on the door of your room, or even on a mirror.

Wreaths bring quintessential Christmas cheer!

I replaced a middle medallion mirror with a velvet leaf wreath (found locally) with a silk bow.

Use Organics

When decorating a Christmas bedroom, or any room, use greens and organics! Real or faux or both!

A little goes a long way, so use it but with an edited hand!

I love to use both real greenery and good faux greens. It’s a real fool-the-eye winner of a tip!

The seeded eucalyptus is all real, and the evergreen is faux in our Christmas bedroom. Just like all the Christmas decor in this room, it’s important to keep it simple and easy to take care of!

The Beauty Of Light

When decorating a Christmas bedroom, remember to add a bit of glow! Either by candlelight (please use battery-operated candles), fairy lights or a string of pretty lights!

The glow of a candle or tiny lights is magical! And isn’t that just perfect at Christmas!

Add A Tree

I’ve been looking for a skinny tree to go in our Master bedroom. I’ve ordered three trees this season and sent them all back. They weren’t quite what I was looking for.

If you can comfortably fit a tree in your bedroom, it’s so worth having!

Here’s a picture of my favorite white tree in our Master bedroom at StoneGable…

You can see more HERE.

For our Tanglewood bedroom, I’m going to leave the tree sans ornaments. A tree with white lights is all this room really needs. It will go where the little barrel chair is now.

Christmas trees in a bedroom are so magical!

Make Your Bed Every Day

When you take the time to create a beautiful, festive bedroom, make sure to make your bed every day! It will make such a difference in the way your room looks, right?

    1. You can find a link to it in the post. I found it at Wayfair, but they only have it in gray now. It was VERY reasonable and has held up well. We love it. You can get on their list to be notified when it comes back in.

I’ve not decorated bedrooms for Christmas as it’s not a priority and I don’t have the time, but this post has inspired me as to how to add something festive without going into changing bedding and time consuming decorating. I especially love the pillow, velvet throw, the simple arrangement and greenery as well as some well placed ornaments. Thank you for your great design expertise!

    1. Done! If you don’t see a newsletter tomorrow check your spam or trash folder. Depending on your email settings things like newsletter can get filtered there. If you find StoneGable Newsletter there then just add it to your inbox and you are all set.

I’m sorry your email got hacked!

  17. I would love to get a beautiful bedskirt such as your open weave one. What is your source.

  18. Your bedroom is lovely, as well as glamorous. I always add a tabletop tree to the bedroom and enjoy the soft lights. This year, the small amount of red, although a true cool red, has lost some of its appeal. I, too, am opting for a more neutral palette of a winter wonderland, with sparkle, greenery, texture, and always, pinecones, to warm things. Thank you for demonstrating the beauty of neutral.

  19. Such a peaceful and calming color palette, beautiful. Thank you for sharing your heart and home with us. May I ask where you found the gorgeous green and gold ribbon?

  20. Donna zoltanski says:

I always enjoy your posts. Love your decorating ideas and your gorgeous home!

  21. Yvonne, yes we can warm the spirit with seasonal decor year round. In my 70s I am going through divorce and will find quiet solace in beautifying my surroundings even though no one else will see it. My color palette is taupe and white, with modern bling — and accents in bright magenta, peacock, sapphire and citron. Thanks for reminding us how creating cozy spaces can be as quick and simple as we can handle in trying times. Your Sunday posts are especially encouraging. Keep a happy heart, all.

    1. Char, Oh, I cannot believe how hard this must be. I love your attitude. You are a wonderful example! I just said a prayer for you.

  22. I love your holiday bedroom
Can you tell me what is the art hanging behind your lamps beside your bed.
    Thank you

    1. That is a very popular question, Janet! I found these prints locally and I don’t have a source. I’ve tried everywhere I know and can’t find them.

  23. Yvonne, your color scheme this Christmas is unique and beautiful and right up my alley!! After a very hectic workweek I REALLY look forward to reading your Saturday posts with my morning coffee. Thank you!

  24. Hi, Yvonne,

  27. I love the lamps in your bedroom. Can you let me know where you purchased them?
    Thank you,
