I know it’s only August, but while you are enjoying the last few weeks (or days) with the kids before school begins or vacationing or taking long dips in the pool let’s take a few minutes to think about fall! Yes, fall! A decorator should always be thinking ahead. Let’s make a plan! So by the time fall really rolls around we can enjoy decorating for the season. Here are a few things to think about and do while we are all enjoying the remainder of summer and looking towards fall.
Make sure to participate in StoneGable’s READERS APPRECIATION GIVEAWAY!
Not the bookworm kind of research… the fun kind! Peruse Pinterest for fall idea and inspiration. Grab a few fall magazines and pour over them.
It’s time to spot fall’s new trends this year!
Give yourself permission to spend time daydreaming! I love this part of planning. You can find tons and tons of great fall ideas on my Pinterest boards AWESOME AND AUTUMN AND FABULOUS FALL and AUTUMN TABLES. Add these ideas to your fall board or make a board of fall ideas for just this year.
MAKE A FALL PROJECT
Find a great fall project for your home and make it in August! It will be all ready to go when you are ready to use it!
Every year I make a new fall wreath for my door. You might want to make a fall table runner, pillow or sign. How about painting your faux orange pumpkins white this year? Gather materials now and make them!
See how I made the EARLY FALL APPLE WREATH HERE.
GATHER UP YOUR FALL RECIPES
Or at least make a list of them! We cook by the seasons here at StoneGable, so that means lots of apple recipes and pumpkin and soup, and hearty stews and deeper flavors!
How about making 20 easy fall menus for fall and rotating them?
Minestrone is one of my very favorite fall soups, see it HERE.
PLAN A PARTY!
Everyone loves a party. Plan a fun outdoor party this fall! How about a S’more Party around the fire pit? Invite your friends and family!
Plan now! Let everyone know early so you will have a good turnout! And start planning the menu, tablescape, and other details so you aren’t overwhelmed by the time it rolls around!
Then HAVE FUN!!! You can see how I set up my S’MORE PARTY HERE.
GO THROUGH YOUR FALL DECOR
Get out your fall decor and go through it now! Purge and make a list of the thing you will need to make or purchase new this fall. This will help you hone your style and you will know without guessing where everything is!
Every season I purge my decorations. They get tired or outdated or both. I’ve really scaled back over the years. I lean more towards beautiful naturals and a LESS-IS-MORE attitude. Much less work and it works with my home.
One of my yearly splurges is a new fall pillow. And this year I am all about using them outdoors! Look for my favorite fall pillow for Fall 2016 next week!
