ON THE MENU WEEK OF MARCH 15th

February is such a transitional and unpredictable month. Right now we are in a cycle of snow. I really want to start spring menus but with so much snow the recipes this week are still winter inspired!

MONDAY

Oh, YUM! This week starts off with soup!

I make this soup a lot! If it’s not on the dinner menu then I make it and have it for lunches. If you try one thing this week this soup should be it. And it’s so so easy!

If you like Tex-Mex flavors you will love this hearty soup!

TUESDAY

Flat iron is such an easy and delicious steak I like to make on my stovetop when we are not quite ready for grilling season. It’s a quick meal and with the addition of a fresh, herby chimichurri sauce it just screams “spring is here” even if it isn’t yet!

If you have never eaten chimichurri sauce make this recipe. It is delicious and you will want to eat it with chicken, fish or steak. Yes, it’s that good!

I’m a big fan of pencil thin asparagus and our local farmers market the most perfect asparagus right now!

WEDNESDAY

This glorious recipe is from Lavender And Macarons! I just had to try it after seeing the beautiful image of lemons and cod in this creamy dreamy sauce! It looks scrummy!

And yes, I’ve been watching the Great British Baking Show. Mary Berry says “scrummy”, a hybrid of scrumptious and yummy! And it perfectly describes tonight’s main dish!

THURSDAY

I love to use my slow cookers for recipes like pulled pork! The meat gets so tender that it just breaks apart! These pork sandwiches with plum bourbon sauce sound divine. Thanks, Rachel at Rachel Cooks.

My goal is to make BBQ pulled pork sandwiches and freeze the rest for a fun lunch the next time company comes our way! You will want to make homemade coleslaw with this glorious pork sandwich! YUMMY!

And what’s better than french fries with a BBQ pork sandwich? There are about a zillion air fryer french fry recipes but these fries look so so good!

FRIDAY

Oh, my! Two words… ARTISAN DELIGHT!

I have a new foodie crush! Just look at this glorious flatbread!!!! I can’t wait to give it a try!!! For tonight’s dinner, I’ll prepare this on a storebought Lavash Bread.

But I’m so excited to try my hand at making my own flatbread with from Jessica’s recipe. Thank you so much for being my new crush, How Sweet Eats!

SATURDAY- COMPANY’S COMING

This recipe is so special to me! First of all it is a very early recipe from the StoneGable archives. I used a point-and-shoot camera and the images are pretty awful!

However, this is probably one of the best recipes I have ever made. It is so good that when our son-in-law Jonathan proposed to our daughter Jacqueline he asked us to be a part of the event and asked me to make an on-the-spot engagement dinner. And requested tonight’s main dish.

Bobby and I offered to take him and Jacqueline out for dinner along with the gaggle of friends in on the engagement but he was so insistent on this special dish! And it was a magical evening, indeed.

Great food, good wine, lots of tears and laughter, amazing young people, one gorgeous engagement ring and cigars all ’round!

Every time I make this feast-for-the-eyes dish I think of a fairytale time on an island in the St. Laurence River and true young love!

SUNDAY- EASY PEASY DINNER NIGHT

After cooking for company, Sunday dinners are very easy! Break out the grill, Bobby! Today starts the grilling season even if it snows!

This gourmet burger recipe from The Project Pile is just so intriguing I have to give it a try! Four ingredients. One very surprising one! And when I read what it was I wondered why I hadn’t thought of it before! Pretty ingenious! You will want to give it a try too!

SWEET TREAT OF THE WEEK

I’m not much of a baker so when I come across a recipe LOVED by everyone, it’s a keeper! And I’ve made this beautiful lemon loaf cake for years always to rave reviews! It’s dense and moist and very lemony!

Perfect for our company served with vanilla ice cream. Now I just have to stay away from any leftovers.

HERE ARE A FEW RECIPES I’M CRUSHING OVER…

  1. Your delicious Chicken Taco soup is on my menu for this evening. I’ve enjoyed it before!
Fyi: The photos for Fri.-Sun. are not able to be seen. I have tried several times.

  2. On the left hand side of the screen a pop up covers text & pictures. It is impossible to get rid of it. When I tap the x in the corner it opens it up. Not what I want. I don’t mind ads but this one is impossible. Perhaps, it’s not a problem when using a mouse but when trying to read on an iPad or iPhone, it is.

    1. Sorry Joanna, We are aware of the problem and working on it. Please be patient. Thanks so much! And I’m so sorry!

I love all your recipes. Could you drop the link for the chimichurri sauce. It doesn’t seem to be working please. I love this sauce and want a good recipe for it.
