SUMMER ON THE MENU WEEK 225

BOWL OF STRAWBERRIES

I love summer cooking! Fresh fruits and veggies and herbs are the blessing of summer. This week’s summer menu uses lots of the produce I’m finding in farmer’s markets and roadside stands.

It’s hot!!! We had such a beautiful spring and now the heat and humidity are settling in! Even though the temps are rising I’m still cooking! And this week’s menu is sublime! I love

I love cooking! And have been doing it for so long I can taste a dish just by looking at it. Yes, I taste with my eyes. Just a look at a picture and a perusing of a recipe give me a pretty good idea about its taste. No wonder I’m so hungry after creating On The Menu!

Here are 33 tasty recipes to try…

MONDAY- SOUP DAY

Soup begins our dinner recipes this week! We are huge soup eaters. Both Bobby and I grew up eating homemade soups. Even when the temperature soars we eat soup. For us, soup is an all year round meal! So that’s why soup in on a summer menu!

Soup for some reason always reminds me of the scene from Oliver Twist when the little boy Oliver holds up his empty bowl and says, “please sir, I want some more”. We almost always want some more!

I’ve never made Chicken Orzo soup so I’m excited to make this gorgeous soup from Natasha at Salt and Lavender. I bet it will be a family favorite! Salt and Lavender is a StoneGable Foodie Favorite Blog!

Blogs I often feature because of their amazing recipes and their generosity in letting me use them are StoneGable Foodie Favorite Blogs. If you use one of their recipes please leave a comment that you found them through StoneGable. Thanks! I really appreciate that!

Did you know I’ve been making Sourdough Bread? It’s a huge craze right now! I love the art and science of bread making. Courtney at Butter For All has written a fabulous blog post about being a sourdough bread maker! If you are interested this post is a must-read!

TUESDAY

There should be a sign in my kitchen “I stop for puff pastry”! Because I’m a huge fan! And I think galettes, rustic free-form tarts, are just the most beautiful things. So tonight’s recipe joins these foodie loves together with spinach and feta and other savories to make a mouth-watering dinner!

These galettes would make a fabulous breakfast treat with a fried egg over the top. YUM!

Alex, from It’s Not Complicated, these savory galettes look scrumptious! Alex is a StoneGable Foodie Favorite Blog!

WEDNESDAY

Scallops are one of my favorite foods! And they are very calorie friendly! These beauties are cooked in butter. To keep the calorie count down I’ll be careful to spoon just a little bit of that gorgeous sauce (oh, that’s hard) over my serving.

Thanks, Vered from Healthy Recipes! Vered is a new StoneGable Foodie Favorite Blog!

THURSDAY

Tonight’s summer menu dinner can be made in just 30 minutes! Wow! And it’s a family favorite! That is a big win/win! Because on most nights, I’m feeding just Bobby and me so I adjust the recipe for two. But for other recipes, like tonight’s Lo Mein, I make the whole recipe for lunch leftovers. And the flavor only gets better!

I love the flavors in this yummy recipe from Love at Munchkin Time! Love is a StoneGable Foodie Favorite Blogger!

FRIDAY

I sing the praises of an Air Fryer!!! I didn’t always feel that way. I actually gave my first Air Fryer away. Then I learned some great tips to almost insure a crunchy outside. This summer look for a blog post all about the best tips for using an Air Fryer.

I can’t wait to try these great looking pork chops from Jill at Foodtastic Mom! Thanks so much for this scrumptious Air Fryer dish!

SATURDAY- COMPANY’S COMING

Tonight we are having company for dinner! It’s been so so long. We will all be careful and social distance on our back porch!

I love easy dinners that are company worthy too! Chicken Lombardy reminds me a little bit of Chicken Marsala. It has some of the same flavor profile. Both chicken and mushrooms are so much better because of the fortified wine.

Please leave in the Marsala it has such an amazing flavor that cannot be reproduced.

I’ll make a spaghetti pasta and toss it lightly with olive oil, butter and Parmesan cheese.

What a great company worthy recipe from Meaghan at 4 Sons “R” Us! This dish is not just for a summer menu but will taste great anytime!

SUNDAY

The day after company comes for dinner I must admit I sorta don’t want to cook. So I try to find something that almost cooks itself! And of course I want it to taste delish!

Tonight’s salmon recipe is just so yummy! And so so easy

What a beautiful recipe from Averie at Averie Cooks! Thanks so much!

SWEET TREAT OF THE WEEK

I’m eating homegrown strawberries like candy! They have a short growing season so it’s time to get my fill!

Doesn’t STRAWBERRY COBBLER sound wonderful! Here at StoneGable, a strawberry recipe like this one is eaten for breakfast swimming in a bowl of milk! Dessert or breakfast you should try this glorious recipe from my dear dear blogging friend Janet, from Shabbyfufu.
