Hey, friends! Did you miss me? I’ve didn’t post for a few days last week. There was a “perfect storm” in my life. First of all, we did have a legitimate nor’easter! That dumped about 8 inches on us here at StoneGable. And on Wednesday when I opened my computer the screen was a ghastly green! My computer died. By the time our township dug us out and I could get a new computer and set it up it was yesterday!
To complete the story none of my UBS ports worked with my new computer and setting it up at home was really a long process. But I’m back. NEW computer, thawing snow and so ready to get back to work!!
Today on Decorating Tips and Tricks we are talking about SPRING AND SUMMER TRENDS FOR 2018. We know you love trends too! So listen in below or go to DTT and listen to any or all of our podcasts!
Here’s what’s on the menu this week…
MONDAY
Chicken Piccata is one of my favorite meals. Delicious, lemony and easy to make. Treat your family to this company-worthy meal.
TUESDAY
We are such carnivores here at StoneGable! And we love steak in all it’s forms!
WEDNESDAY
Our family was here for a long weekend and my daughter Jacqueline made us this fabulous dinner using the recipes below. This is now one of my very favorite dinners! And guess what… she left the leftovers. Delicious and fresh! A must try!
THURSDAY
Have you ever had Bonefish Grill’s Bang Bang Shrimp? If not make reservations tonight and GO! Really, they are addictive and absolutely scrumptious. My son Christopher and I went to lunch on Saturday and shared a pile of them. I’m ready for a copycat version I can make at home anytime I want this delicious dish! Thanks, Dinner Then Dessert!
- BANG BANG SHRIMP
- RICE
- SHREDDED LETTUCE
FRIDAY
Salmon is a hearty fish that is heart healthy too. And it is even better when served with a sweet and garlicky sauce!
SATURDAY
I must make my Perfect Roast Chicken at least every other week. That and homemade Rotisserie chicken. I found a rotisserie for $3.00 at a garage sale years ago and it makes the best darn chicken. Even if roast chicken is not on the menu I’ll make a couple (don’t make just one) and use the meat for lunches and other dishes as well as the carcass for stock. This is true home cooking comfort food. And it will make your house smell delicious too!
- PERFECT ROAST CHICKEN
- MASHED POTATOES
- ROASTED CARROTS- put around the chicken and roasted in the pan drippings
EASTER SUNDAY
Happy Easter! Our whole family usually gathers together for a long Easter weekend. And brunch is our big meal of the day.Every year we have the same cast of culinary characters.
Did you know we even have egg fights? Not the throw-an-egg-at-someone kind of egg fight. But egg fights none the less! And we crown the winner! Just a quirky tradition! Nothing says Easter like a good fight! Do you have any silly Easter traditions?
- SPRIAL HAM- I like Costco the best
- KIELBASA
- HARD BOILED EGGS
- PINEAPPLE CASSEROLE
- THE BEST POTATO SALAD… NO KIDDING!
- SALAD
- BUNNY BREAD
- FRUIT PLATTER
- MIMOSAS
- COFFEE
- CARROT CAKE
TREAT OF THE WEEK
Oh YUM! What better cake to make for Easter than a moist Carrot Cake!
Wishing you a scrumptious week and a very Happy Easter!
So sorry about your computer, I xix wonder if you were alright…glad all is well. I am making your famous Carrot cake for church lunchon Wednesday and know it will be a big hit. Have a good week!
I’m fine! I can’t wait to try the carrot cake too!
Hello Yvonne,
I made your Raw Apple Cake recipe this weekend and it was delicious! My husband has now asked me to make it every week! Thanks so much.
Church first and then the same: ham, potato salad, etc.
Can’t go wrong with a Stone Gable recipe! When I clicked the link for your carrot cake recipe, it led to your darling bunny rolls instead. Could you update the link with the cake recipe instead? Thanks! Have a Blessed Easter!
Sorry about that Margie, I fixed it!
So glad all is okay! We have a similar brunch with ham, kielbasa, egg cheese, fresh pineapple, strawberries with sour cream and brown sugar to dip them in, and nut roll. My brother-in-law is Greek and they have a “egg fight” tradition that we adopted. Have a blessed Easter!
Yes Yvonne I missed you but more than that I was worried about you. I thought you might be having surgeries on your foot. You were in my prayers! So glad you are okay!
Elaine surgeries are all over… I hope! I had 7 surgeries from Jan 15 to Feb 28th. And worked right through them. I plan to be running around my garden this summer and running after my grandbabies!
I KNEW something was wrong at Stone Gable! I am relieved it was just an issue with an inanimate object. I wish you and your family a joyful Holy Week and wonderful expectations for a happy, happy Easter!!! Get those eggs ready!
The link for the carrot cake takes you to the bunny bread recipe — can you direct me to the carrot cake recipe?
Hi Michelle, Sorry! I fixed it. Gotta love Carrot Cake for Easter!
I’m glad you are back!!! Thank you so much for all the wonderful recipes that you share each week. I feel like I have my own personal meal planner!
Hello, Yvonne! I’m glad you were able to get a new computer – we did miss you! All the food you posted and menu has made me very hungry this morning. The chicken gyros look fabulous! Have a great week, I hope it warms up where you are soon. We’re having unusually warm weather where I live, I’ve already had to pack away my winter sweaters.
So glad your back Yvonne!
Yes Yvonne I did miss your posts last week!! I thought something happened on my end! So glad you are back!!
You have many of my favorites in your menu this week! Awesome!!! Thank you and have a blessed week!
Yvonne,
Yes I missed you. Was so worried something happened to you or your family. Thank God it was only snow and a computer! Terrible at the time but your computer has been replaced and snow melts. Love the menu this week and plan to add the pineapple casserole and the carrot cake to my Easter dinner. Have a beautiful and blessed day on which we celebrate the rebirth of our Lord.
Welcome back online! I also just had to get a new laptop. A bit of a new learning curve. The link in the menu this week for carrot cake connects to the bunny bread. Thanks, have a blessed Easter week! Cindy
