SPRING FAMILY ROOM

Spring has come to StoneGable even though we just got a few more inches of snow last night. My family room has taken on a new, lighter touch this Spring and I’m really enjoying its fresh look. As a matter of fact, I’ve been thinking a lot about a new look for StoneGable!

I think, eat, breathe, and live decor all day long. And this is the truth… I think I love every style of decor there is. Some more than others, but I really do love them all.

Because I work with decor so much it feels good to have a quietly decorated home. Neutral, natural and not fussy. It gives my eyes and my mind a rest!

So this year, you will see StoneGable looking a little more pared a bit to reflect the new, fresher and cleaner (design speaking) way I want to live!

My spring living room is a good reflection of this new look. In years past I would have brought out lots of Spring decor.

Now, my decor gives just a little nod to the season. Tulips in a fun stylized white vase and a little nest on the mantel and one in the vignette on the coffee table. That’s it! And I love the simplicity of it!

I don’t feel like I’m trying too hard to force spring into my decor!

I added a couple little birds. Aren’t they so so sweet?

In the past, I’d use high contrasting neutrals like black and white. I still LOVE those colors but not in such large doses! I’m using a more light-handed and textural approach now!

I’ve always love blue and now I’m using it as a little more than a pop of color!

Spring is a wonderful time to make a change!

Let me know if you are feeling a decor change coming too! What direction are you going to towards this spring?

  1. I love the decor in your family room! Where is your rug from? I’m trying to find a neutral rug for our living room and missed the mark with jute rugs. They are ruining my floors with all of their shedding and ‘dropping dirt’ but love the simplicity and color. Your rug is beautiful!

  2. Hi there:
I look forward to your posts daily. My question is I am in the look out for a beautiful off white or beige couch. What is the brand of couch you show in the picture?
Thank you and any details regarding the seating will be highly appreciated.

  3. Maybe it is all the chaos around us but I too feel a need for a simple spring decor.I have used yellow flowers, birds, willow branches, moss orbs and some new houseplants to bring in a touch of early spring. My green dishes and accessories add some Irish to my kitchen. . Easter will bring out more with the addition of rabbits, eggs and nests but March is so about less is more.

    1. Beautiful fresh new look. What is the brand name of your coffee table and pillows on the sofa.
      Thanks for sharing your home!!

  4. Love your blog so-o-o-o much! Maybe because my taste in decorating is the same as yours. I’m not sure. Anyway … I would like to know where you purchased the basket under your coffee table. I’ve been looking for something like like this for mine to corral all my magazines.

    Thank you for your help!

  5. I’m loving your simplicity and style as usual! I’m crushing over the new pillow with a shade of blue! Could you please share where that beauty came from?

    1. Hi Melissa, the pillow is an outdoor pillow I found at Pottery Barn. Not sure if they carry it anymore.I’ll be sharing sources for everything next week in a GET THE LOOK post.

  6. I loved this post. I’m a changed women too! I used to layer and display like a retail decor store! It’s funny how it all changed for me about 5 years ago. I love bowls and baskets empty now! That’s huge for me!
Last year I did make your napkin covered eggs and loved them! I’m a neutral girl so I love your decorating style! I wish you could share some of the things you picture in your post, i.e., the many vases.mimrecognize some of them from C&B because I have some of the same ones.
I’m thankful to God for your recovery.mim praying you are continuing to do well. To God be the Glory!

  7. I still love that galvanized/glass lamp but have not been able to find it on the site you mentioned. Can you give me more details?

  8. Yvonne, you also said last week that you would share the sources for your master bedroom. Could you do that as well please?

  9. I adore your new fresh and lighter look. I have felt I needed a brighter happier look for a while now and it feels good! Isn’t amazing what a little change can do to lighten a mood too? Love it all Yvonne!

  10. I love the mirror above your fireplace. I’ve tried to search on-line for its source, but to no avail. Can’t wait till you post the source list. Your room looks beautiful.

  11. Looking for pillow sources on your beautiful sofa pillows? Couldn’t find it on Get the Look. I am also redefining my look – opting for simpler, cleaner overall decor….and loving the look. I am halfway through “tidying up” my entire house, following Marie Kondo’s wonderful advice. When you really stop and evaluate every single thing and ask if they “spark joy”, you can clean out and eliminate a lot. I smile every time I open an organized drawer or cabinet, or better yet, an empty one!

  12. Yvonne, I just love your simple decor for spring! ??? I also love your new coffee table could you please let me know where you found your living room coffee table!

    Thank you so much ???

  13. Yvonne I’m LOVING the new lighter and brighter look! Your home is always pretty, but this is a gorgeous change and it’s perfect for spring! And your little birds are SO adorable!!

    Happy Spring to you!

  14. Love how elegant and fresh your family room looks in spring! It’s incredible how textures, plants and layers you’ve used bring the exciting spring vibe in this space in a subtle, yet gorgeous way. White tulips are so lovely and gentle, great pick!

  15. Your family room is lovely. I’m very interested in seeing your kitchen with its changes. Where is your little mouse hiding?

  16. I love your blue and neutral pillows on your sofa. Would you be willing to share the source for all of them including the Pom Pom pillow?

I love your styling and found you on Pinterest years ago. Thank you for sharing your amazing talent and giving inspiration to others!

  17. Lovely post, as usual Yvonne! Have you already painted your kitchen cabinets white? Did I miss a post with the details? Would love to read how you went about it!

    1. The kitchen at StoneGable was white and we will paint the kitchen here at Tanglewood white too. We are still getting bids in and by the first of March we should know who we are choosing for this big makeover project. Projected finish for the kitchen is mid-August.
