SPRING FAMILY ROOM

Spring has come to StoneGable even though we just got a few more inches of snow last night. My family room has taken on a new, lighter touch this Spring and I’m really enjoying its fresh look. As a matter of fact, I’ve been thinking a lot about a new look for StoneGable!

This week is STYLED+SET! Lots of my blogging friends are sharing spring decor and tablescapes. We are all ready for a bit of Spring!!!! Please see the bottom of this post to visit these beautiful blog and get lots of ideas and inspiration!

I think, eat, breathe, and live decor all day long. And this is the truth… I think I love every style of decor there is. Some more than others, but I really do love them all.

Because I work with decor so much it feels good to have a quietly decorated home. Neutral, natural and not fussy. It gives my eyes and my mind a rest!

So this year, you will see StoneGable looking a little more pared a bit to reflect the new, fresher and cleaner (design speaking) way I want to live!

My spring living room is a good reflection of this new look. In years past I would have brought out lots of Spring decor.

Now, my decor gives just a little nod to the season. Tulips in a fun stylized white vase and a little nest on the mantel and one in the vignette on the coffee table. That’s it! And I love the simplicity of it!

I don’t feel like I’m trying too hard to force spring into my decor!

I added a couple little birds. Aren’t they so so sweet?

In the past, I’d use high contrasting neutrals like black and white. I still LOVE those colors but not in such large doses! I’m using a more light-handed and textural approach now!

I’ve always love blue and now I’m using it as a little more than a pop of color!

Spring is a wonderful time to make a change!

Let me know if you are feeling a decor change coming too! What direction are you going to towards this spring?

  1. I love the decor in your family room! Where is your rug from? I’m trying to find a neutral rug for our living room and missed the mark with jute rugs. They are ruining my floors with all of their shedding and ‘dropping dirt’ but love the simplicity and color. Your rug is beautiful!

    1. Hi Dawn, the rug came from Wayfair. I’ll share all the sources for the family room next week.

  2. Hi there:
I look forward to your posts daily. My question is I am in the look out for a beautiful off white or beige couch. What is the brand of couch you show in the picture?
Thank you and any details regarding the seating will be highly appreciated.

  4. Maybe it is all the chaos around us but I too feel a need for a simple spring decor.I have used yellow flowers, birds, willow branches, moss orbs and some new houseplants to bring in a touch of early spring. My green dishes and accessories add some Irish to my kitchen. . Easter will bring out more with the addition of rabbits, eggs and nests but March is so about less is more.

Love your blog so-o-o-o much! Maybe because my taste in decorating is the same as yours. I’m not sure. Anyway … I would like to know where you purchased the basket under your coffee table. I’ve been looking for something like like this for mine to corral all my magazines.

    Thank you for your help!

    1. I’ll be sharing sources for everything next week in a GET THE LOOK post.

  17. Linda Ebright says:

Looking for pillow sources on your beautiful sofa pillows? Couldn’t find it on Get the Look. I am also redefining my look – opting for simpler, cleaner overall decor….and loving the look. I am halfway through “tidying up” my entire house, following Marie Kondo’s wonderful advice. When you really stop and evaluate every single thing and ask if they “spark joy”, you can clean out and eliminate a lot. I smile every time I open an organized drawer or cabinet, or better yet, an empty one!

  18. Yvonne, I just love your simple decor for spring! ??? I also love your new coffee table could you please let me know where you found your living room coffee table!

    Thank you so much ???

  19. So beautiful, Yvonne! I love the clean pared down look, yet it still has your unique signature on it. Perfect!!

  20. Yvonne I’m LOVING the new lighter and brighter look! Your home is always pretty, but this is a gorgeous change and it’s perfect for spring! And your little birds are SO adorable!!

    Happy Spring to you!

    1. The kitchen at StoneGable was white and we will paint the kitchen here at Tanglewood white too. We are still getting bids in and by the first of March we should know who we are choosing for this big makeover project. Projected finish for the kitchen is mid-August.
