A CHRISTMAS MAGAZINE SHOOT

Yesterday was a fun day at the Tanglewood House! A magazine came to pay us a visit and take pictures of our new home all dressed up for Christmas! This is our first magazine shoot here at Tanglewood! And our first Christmas magazine shoot ever! Come on! Let’s take a little look behind the scenes!

Today’s post is a little bit of this and that and about a very special magazine that came to shoot our home for Christmas!

StoneGable has been in well over 20 print magazine editions and countless online magazines. It’s so always exciting and fun when a magazine crew comes to our home! But this shoot was extra special!

Let me introduce you to Suzanne Long, editor of Lancaster County Magazine and Kirk the photographer…

I’ve known Sue for a couple decades through the magazine!

What makes this photoshoot so different from any other magazine photoshoot is THESE ARE MY PEOPLE! My town, my county! My people!!!

Christmas came a little early for me this year!

LANCASTER COUNTY MAGAZINE is a staple of beautiful life and community in Lancaster county and the surrounding area! It’s been a popular part of our lives since 1987. You can read more about this lovely magazine HERE.

You can’t imagine my joy about being recognized by my beloved Lancaster County though it’s original monthly magazine! I’m walking just a little bit off the ground right now!

StoneGable will probably be featured in next December’s issue! It’s hard to wait that long!

Sue and Kirk dropped their bags at the front door and went right to work! Every light was lit and every candle too! And more fancy photography and video lighting was added!

I use all natural lighting when I take images for the blog! No artificial lighting. But Kirk, being the professional, used all these fabulous lights! I can’t wait to see the pictures!

When Kirk was snapping images I decided to take a few of my own! Lot’s of lighting here!

I was so impressed (and so was my assistant Katie) how nice and neat this photoshoot went. Usually, my home can be quite disrupted! Which is really no different than when I do my own photoshoots for the blog!

The only thing I had to do after my LCM friends left was turn off all the lights!

They photographed the great room, the dining room, the hall, our bedroom and the bedrooms upstairs. And they will come back in the fall to shoot the kitchen once it is renovated. I’ll dress it up for Christmas and they can finish the photoshoot for the December edition in 2020.

When they left and I turned off the lights (except for the tree) and took a few pictures I thought you might enjoy. Here’s our Christmas Foyer this year.

We are serving Christmas dinner in our 22 foot long foyer. There will be 13 for dinner so I purchased extra utility tables and will cover them with white tablecloths. This hallway will be a great makeshift dining room!

The stars came from World Market. They are sold out right now but you can see them HERE and get on a waiting list for them.

Thanks, Lancaster County Magazine for visiting StoneGable at Tanglewood! You can subscribe to LCM HERE and see their online magazine too!

Can’t wait to see the magazine next Christmas. Tanglewood looks beautiful. Thankyou for answering my question about your Christmas dinner location. Wondered how you were going to fit a crowd around your new round table. Your entry hall will be perfect.

Using your foyer as a makeshift dinning room – very clever. It’s making me rethink the seating for my Christmas Eve dinner.

  11. Everything looks amazing, my friend… and those stars! Stunning! Smart thinking about using the foyer as a temp dining area. 😉 Love the ‘twists’ we make while living in different homes!

    1. It’s been quite an adventure! We lived here just 3 weeks and started to decorate for Christmas. After the decorations are down then I’ll tackle the boxes of clothes in our closet. LOL!

  12. The home is lovely in every way but I’m confused, do you live at Tanglewood or Stonegable? Perhaps you have two homes? Just curious.

I’d love to know where you got your white fold-out paper Christmas tree. I’m looking forward to seeing your home in the 2020 December edition of the Lancaster County Magazine ! Everything is absolutely beautiful as always! “HAPPY HOLIDAYS!”

  17. Sheilah Broughton says:

Are your paper star hangings lit or did you just hang them to look beautiful like the rest of your home? Sheilah

    1. Hi Sheilah, there is a bulb attachement for them but I did not want any cord showing. Next year, I plan to use them again and put battery operated twinkle lights on timers in them.

  18. I’m surprised at how quickly you moved into your new home and made a quick turn from fall/thanksgiving to Christmas, just in time for a photo shoot. You’re Wonder Women!
