CHRISTMAS PEPPERMINT HOT CHOCOLATE

A velvety chocolate peppermint drink.

Ingredients

  • 1 TBS cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup hot water
  • 5 oz. bittersweet chocolate roughly chopped
  • 1 quart whole milk 4 cups
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 7 candy canes finely crushed. I crush mine in the food processor

Instructions

  • Mix the cocoa with the hot water to make a thin paste.
  • Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker. Cook on low for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. If the chocolate does not melt after the first hour turn the slow cooker on high for the last hour stirring every 30 minutes.
  • Serve with marshmallows drizzled with chocolate syrup.
