WHAT IS YOUR HEARTSONG?

WHAT IS YOUR HEARTSONG? All creation lives and breathes and acts to glorify God but one. Man, unless saved by grace, is self-seeking and not God glorifying. All nature has a heartsong praising God. What is your heartsong?

Almost every morning… just before daybreak… I am awakened to the sound of a Mockingbird singing his little heart out near my bedroom windows. He sits on the top branches of our weeping cherry tree and shouts out his song. It’s not even that pretty! No obvious melody… just strings of squawks and calls and shrill whistles. He doesn’t seem to care at all… he just belts it out with everything his dear soul has. It is his heartsong!

Not the most gentle way to wake up. Some mornings it’s comical… but some mornings it’s very very annoying!!!!

Not long ago a fragment of scripture popped into my head…. something about the trees of the field clapping their hands. What a great word picture! Can you see the wind blowing through the trees making them “clap”?

Although this verse is taken out of context I love to think that all the earth is singing a song of great worship to the LORD! Yes, even my mockingbird friend!

SING TO THE LORD ALL THE EARTH

SING TO THE LORD, BLESS HIS NAME;

PROCLAIM GOOD TIDINGS OF HIS SALVATION FROM DAY TO DAY…

LET THE HEAVEN’S BE GLAD AND THE EARTH REJOICE

LET THE SEAS ROAR AND ALL IT CONTAINS

LET THE FIELDS EXULT AND ALL THAT IS IN IT

THEN ALL OF THE TREES OF THE FOREST WILL SHOUT FOR JOY

BEFORE THE LORD, FOR HE IS COMING Psalm 96:1,2, 11-13

All the earth in its own way knows and gives glory to the Lord! Nature know it’s Creator… and in a great and wonderful act of corporate worship does exactly what it was created to do…it shows who HE is. Now that is a great act of worship, indeed!

Even my noisy little mockingbird friend is singing with all that is within him and doing his little birdie things… just like God created him to do… and it pleases Go and is a great worship to the Author of the Universe! The mockingbird sings each morning for only God to hear!

Nature cannot wait for the  Lord to come back. All that is created in nature is in a huge mess and waits with immense anticipation for Jesus’ return.

For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.  Romans 8: 19-21

But here is a startling thing… God’s most prized creation does not necessarily feel that way! Unlike the rest of creation, it praises itself and acts independently of it’s wonderful Creator.  It’s songs and deeds are self driven and much of it is an abomination to the Lord! We are self-seeking and filled with self-glorification!

However, God’s purpose for us is quite different. We were made to have the most intimate relationship with the very God of ALL! Our being and living was created to be a great praise to the Lord… just like the rest of the created world.

This morning I got up and took a lesson from my little birdie friend… I started my day with my own song to the Lord.

THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE, LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD
Psalm 118:24

Let’s all join creation and praise our Maker and worship Him!!! Let’s live IN HIM the way we were created to be! Lord, let our heartsong be a praise to YOU and YOU alone!

This week’s memorization verse:
THIS IS THE DAY THE LORD HAS MADE, LET US REJOICE AND BE GLAD  Psalm 118:24

  2. Yes, how can anyone observe the wonders of the universe from the birth of stars in nebula’s Cradle to the first cry of a new baby and not believe in our beloved Creator? Sigh…

  3. When I was growing up, there were blue jays that nested in the woods outside my bedroom. They were my alarm clock. I love blue jays to this day. I recently moved to another state and at the end of the service in my new church we sing a song about going out with joy and the trees of yhe field clapping their hands. What a grewt devotion for my Sunday Morning! Thank you for sharing.

  4. We too have Mockingbirds each morning warbling their way into our early morning dreams. It seems they want us to be up and around so that we can enjoy them as much as they enjoy themselves! This is indeed “the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.”

  9. Love this visual picture you have painted with your words for us. Yes, our world is in a mess. And we made it the mess it is. SO thankful for salvation and pray that others see Jesus in me. Have a blessed day!

  10. My heart song is also to rejoice in my Savior, Jesus the Christ, and His return. The visualization of all nature shouting for joy at His return couldn’t be more appropriate. For in Jesus day, the bridegroom came with a procession of people dancing and singing, rejoicing, as he came to claim his bride. ALL the earth and everything in it will rejoice when Jesus comes to claim His bride, the church. We, His cherished bride, shall sit at the banquet table with Him, forever uvited.

Thank you for reminding me to joyfully prepare for His return!! And Bless you, Sister, for proclaiming the word.

  11. Your little birdie friend is there to remind you God loves his voice just like He loves your voice! God created all our sounds, He knows what he is doing!

  14. I loved this devotional! Perhaps because as a girl I remember always waking up to the sound of the “mockingbird’s trill”. I would have that song playing in my head all day.

The way you tied creation singing out to God in praise and longing for Jesus return was inspiring to me and a different way of looking at this scripture. I love it!

  15. I read this when you posted it and read it again tonight. Your inspirational posts are so calming when I am feeling sad or overwhelmed. You’re blog is such a joy and I’m grateful for the decorating tips and even more for the spiritual lessons. I hope that you are growing stronger every day and that you will recover quickly from your surgeries.

  16. In reading your message here, I was reminded of a Hillsong song I love….”So Will I.” What a tribute to the God we love and serve…hope it blesses you, as it’s blessed me.

We get so “bogged down” with the things of this earth, we often forget who’s in control. As Peter when he took his eyes off the Lord when he called him to walk on water, we tend to focus on the storm rather than the one who controls the storm. The real “storm” is deep inside of us ourselves….are we going to trust God, and rely on his word, or not? As his child, we’ve nothing to fear….we know the “Maker of the Wind”…..and He IS on our side!

  17. It is such a joy to open your blog and find the most delightful ideas on decorating, spiritual words of encouragement and unique ideas to create. It makes my day. I always look forward to what is next at stonegable.
