3. THANKSGIVING RECIPE: Here’s an easy Roasted Acorn Squash Recipe for Thanksgiving.Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Clean and dry 2 acorn squash, cut them in half, and remove the seeds with a melon baller. Cut each half into 1-inch slices. Put them on a parchment or foil-lined rimmed baking sheet in a single layer. In a small bowl add 1/4 cup maple syrup, 3 tablespoons butter, 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves, and a pinch of salt. Microwave until everything is melted together, about 60 seconds, and stir to mix. Brush both sides with the maple syrup mixture. Bake for 25 minutes, turn and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes. The acorn squash should be caramelized and delicious! Happy Thanksgiving!

6. Make sure you stop by the CHRISTMAS SHOPS. So many sales going on and I added many new items too. And visit last year’s Christmas Home Tour for lots of ideas and inspiration.

7. FUN AND INTERESTING FACTS: According to historical records, no turkey was served on the first Thanksgiving. Can you name three birds that were? What American culinary convenience was due to a mistake at Thanksgiving?

8. EASY CHRISTMAS HACKS: Hang heavy Christmas ornaments on a tree with green pipe cleaners. Hang stockings with command hooks. Plant a little plant in a festive Christmas mug. Put several jingle bells in a gift to make it sound fun and musical. Make Christmas balls frosty by painting them with ModPodge and rolling them in Epson Salts. Add greenery, fresh cranberries, and a floating candle to a mason jar and fill it with water to make a pretty floating candle. Take pictures of all your Christmas decor so you have a record of what you created.

9. This Christmas I ordered digital prints from Etsy, here, here, and here. I had them printed to the size I wanted and framed them. You will see them in my home for the Christmas Tour on November 28th. What a fun way to add a bit of Christmas cheer to your decor.

Answer to #7: The “foulings” that were served at the first Thanksgiving were swan, geese, and duck. In 1953 a Swanson employee ordered too much turkey and the company had 260 tons of leftover turkey. So they came up with making pre-made turkey dinners in disposable trays for the general public. Hence the tv dinner was born!

It may help you or someone you know going through the same thing.

ON SUTTON PLACE

1.) If you love to be comfortable and stylish at the same time, I have just the thing. My guide to Loungewear for Women has a beautiful selection of easy-to-wear yet pretty items that mix and match for your own signature look.

2.) WHAT I’M WATCHING: There’s some good stuff on right now! My dad recommended two new TV shows and I like both of them. The first is Fire Country, and the second is East New York. Both are on CBS and stream commercial-free on Paramount+. I’m watching season 5 of The Crown right now on Netflix. One minute I’ve laughed out loud, and the next I’ve been moved to tears! Coming on Thanksgiving Day on Netflix is a new Christmas movie starring Justin Hartley (from This Is Us) called The Noel Diary, and it looks really good. If you’re a Criminal Minds fan, a brand new season begins streaming (two episodes to start with) on Thanksgiving Day as well, on Paramount+. (Everyone is coming back except Matthew Gray Gubler, who played Spencer…which is a bummer.)

3.) FAVORITE QUOTE: “There’s no such thing as a coincidence. Notice how every major event in your life somehow leads up to the next…it’s all connected.”

4.) If you love to wrap gifts, take a look at THIS! I can’t wait to try it.

5.) INSPIRING PLACES: this French inspired Christmas front porch is stunning, this nostalgic Christmas home tour has so many beautiful ideas, get inspiration for adding small touches of Christmas to your kitchen, and you will love all the little Christmas trees in this cozy home tour.

6.) Since we have two big holidays coming up, we need to be thinking about both of them. If you need Thanksgiving ideas, I’ve got you covered. And if you are preparing for Christmas, this collection of 100 Christmas ideas will be sure to help you along the way.

7.) I came across this recipe for Cranberry Almond Thanksgiving Slaw and thought it looked delicious. One of my girlfriends made this Million Dollar Dip for a get-together we had, and I have one word to describe it. Addicting!

8.) Need some Christmas wreath inspiration? I made this wreath a couple of years ago, and it is one of your favorites because it lasts all winter long. For a different look, this snowman wreath is festive and fun. (Here is a much more expensive version!) If fresh evergreens are your thing, this simple pine bunch could actually be free if you used greenery from your yard and accessories you already have!

9.) My whole family is coming home for Thanksgiving, and I’m scrambling to get blog content ready so I can take some time off. I’m working on Christmas printables, and our Christmas porch is almost finished. If you aren’t an OSP email subscriber, please join us so you don’t miss a thing!

Happy Wednesday, Friends!
