I think StoneGable is at it’s best during the fall season! It may be because we live in an area that celebrates the beauty and bounty of the season! It may be because I can look our any window in my home and see fields of corn and soybean, flaxen, ready to be harvested. But I think it’s because our home is cozy and relaxed and lends itself to fall!
In Lancaster Co. we revel in fall! So many farm markets dot the roadsides filled to the brim with pumpkins and flowering mums and cabbage and kale. This is our big tourism season. We have county fairs and apple festivals, and corn mazes and hot apple cider and pumpkin whoopie pies! How can I not help bringing fall element into my home to celebrate right along with the rest of Lancaster? Come in for a visit…
Snuggle in with your beverage of choice… there’s lots to see!

My family room is just the place to start! Although it’s the darkest room in my home I say that it is cozy! It’s perfect for a chilly fall day!
I’ve moved my Antique Buchanan tartans from the outdoor swing to cover my brown leather chairs. This is such an easy way to make a chair something it’s not! My chair goes from brown leather to a soft fall plaid! Such an easy way to fool the eye and bring a little Autumn into a room!
Earlier this summer I bought this blue and white graphic poof! I thought I would use it as a footstool for the chair, but it was too tall. I loved it so much that I made it a little fun table by adding a basket tray! I’m getting a little bohemian this fall mixing plaids, geometric and other patterns. Fall is the time to mix things up a bit… just look outside! If you notice the shot above of my family room I have a blue and white pillow on each chair. I really love that conglomerate look!
All the pumpkins, mini Indian corn and mums came from my very favorite Amish farm! The Amish farmers go to auction and get some pretty terrific pumpkins and sell them dirt cheap! The fields all over our countryside are full of pumpkins!
Isn’t this one a beauty? Do you know what it is called? I’ll try to harvest the seeds and grow my own next year!
I’m all about using natural element to decorate StoneGable! Here is such a simple fall idea. A tall glass cylinder with pinecones in the bottom layered with a mini pumpkin and topped off with mini Indian corn.
The candle is a square glass holder with regular Indian corn kernels nestled around a votive candle. EASY- PEASY and very doable! Just think how fabulous this would look in a mason jar!
If you are not a fan of orange, try mixing orange with blue and white. It is really stunning! They are complimentary colors and play so well together!
I love blue and orange together! So I kept my blue and white pillows and added touches of orange to the gathering basket arrangement on the coffee table!
Making these arrangements are so so easy! I have some simple tips for making no-fail arrangements in my post 5 MINUTE FALL DECOR. Head on over and learn how to put almost any natural arrangement together!
I have a “defalt mantel design”. Lately I’ve been using what I have on the mantel and changing it up for the season.
I’m keeping the mantel quite soft, because the rest of my family room has lots of color right now!
I’ve put some faux leaves on the mantel, but when our trees change a little more I’ll be bringing real branches inside to replace them.
Let’s head into the kitchen… my favorite room in the house!
Pumpkins and other fall elements grace a large dough bowl in the center of my island. Because this is a working island I can scoot the centerpiece to the side of the island on the burlap runner when I work.
I found this olive basket (actually I got 2) at Walmart and aged it. It’s a great basket for a mum!
