Today is all about spring decorating ideas! Don’t you love spring? Just last week it was like the earth woke up in Lancaster Co! The fields are greening up and the trees are starting to bloom so that tells me that it’s time for a spring home tour!!! Ready?
I’m thrilled you are joining us today for our spring tour. WELCOME, welcome if you are coming from Heather’s beautiful blog Southern State Of Mind! Her blog is as charming and southern as she is. If you have missed her tour make it a must-visit!
A big thank you to my friend Marty at A Stroll Thru Life for inviting me to be part of this pretty spring tour! She has been blogging almost as long and I have so I’ve known her for over a decade. What a sweetheart!!!!! Make sure to stop by her spring home and say hello!
And please visit the blogger’s participating in this spring tour! They are all listed at the end of this l-o-n-g post. Thirty bloggers opening up their homes for you to look around and get lots of spring decorating ideas! How fun!
I’m thrilled you have stopped by today! We are so far out in the countryside even GPS gets where we live wrong! Thank goodness you found us! Come on in…
Step inside, friend! So glad you are here!
This year’s spring decorating ideas are all about greenery! I just can’t get enough of blooms and plants and it is certainly reflected in my spring decor. Real or faux, I am loving spring organics this year!
This is our first spring at the Tanglewood house! When we lived at StoneGable I knew exactly what to take pictures of and what time of day worked best for photographing! What a big learning curve now!
An open concept home is far different from a modern farmhouse! I’m enjoying the challenge!
We have now lived at Tanglewood for 5 months and spring is turning out to be gorgeous here! Like all of Lancaster Co., our neighborhood and the golf course are almost in full bloom!
I just discovered we have a flowering apple tree out front! How lovely!
Let’s talk about the entryway first!
I keep things pretty simple here. I’ve tried to put 3 different benches under the framed verse and none of them looked right. This space just wants to be left rather minimal!
Right after we moved in I had this scripture verse made. It’s one of my favorite blessings and one we want to pray over everyone who enter in our door. So, I am praying this for you too!
The blooming branches in the basket are apple, just like our tree.
My default decorating style is farmhouse but our new home is so open and the architecture is more modern. So now I’m leaning towards a much cleaner look. I’m still a farmhouse girl at heart but now my love of farmhouse shows through in decorative accents.
My style has transformed into a cleaner look. Less layer upon layer and more simple. With an open concept home, you can see almost everything at once so my new mantra is SIMPLICITY. Simplicity in color, layering, style, and furnishings.
We will see how this home evolves!
At the end of the long entryway is a very useful table! I love its farmhouse vibe! In the evening the lamp illuminates the hall and path to our master bedroom.
If you have followed StoneGable for any time this table might look familiar to you! And you are right. It came from the family room at StoneGable.
We have played a game of musical furniture in our new home! You can see what we took from StoneGable and where it is now in the Tanglewood home HERE. Because almost everything in our home is somewhat neutral almost all of the furnishing work together so I have been able moved them around!
BWT the pictures were in our upstairs sitting room off our master!
One of my favorite things to do no matter what home I’m living in is to tuck a few nests in my decor. It just would not seem like spring without a few nests gracing our home! This is one of my favorite spring decorating ideas.
I have a stash of plain nests and love to embellish them. So easy and they can be made to work with my decor. You can see HOW TO EMBELLISH A NEST HERE.
The foyer opens up to the rest of the house. First the great room…
And the great room opens up to our dining area and beyond!
Just have to add a little note: this house is BRIGHT! Lots and lots of windows and skylights. So pretty, but a bear to photograph! Another huge learning curve! Thanks for being understanding!
Let’s head to the great room for spring decorating ideas!
The fireplace is decked out for spring! The prints make the fireplace look a bit dramatic! So I softened it and continued the fern theme with faux ferns on the mantel!
Faux blooms and plants can be so lifelike! You can find a post about CREATIVE WAYS TO DECORATE WITH FAUX FLOWERS HERE.
I got a big burst of creativity in late winter and decorated this mantel 6 ways for spring! You can see it HERE.
I am a firm believer that, when seasonal decorating (except Christmas), one should give a nod to the season and not dump the whole seasonal truckload into one’s home!
No judging if you do! I’ll just enjoy all the seasonal decor in your home!!!
I just couldn’t resist adding handsome rabbits to the mantel!
One of my favorite all-time accessories is my gray urn. I picked it up at HomeGoods ages and ages ago. It was love at first sight! You know… when you see something that is so gorgeous you would almost fight someone for it!!!!! Not really, but you get the point!
I immediately put the gray urn in my shopping cart. IT WAS UNDER $30.00!!!!! A decorating miracle, friends! I did the happy dance all the way home. I still feel that way about it all these years later. It has become an iconic StoneGable accessory!
The tulips in it are faux. You could probably tell so close up. But how about now?
And even this close? If I had not pointed out the tulips were faux, you probably would not have noticed!
Do you love pillows? Oh, I sure do!!!! One of the easiest things to do to change the look of a room is to change up its pillows.
When it comes to pillows I like to use lighter colors, more texture and fun accents for spring and summer.
I’m wild about indoor/outdoor pillows! They have such great details. I love to use them all over our home!
Love the texture and the POM-POMS!!!!! Lots of pillow love here!!!!
From the great room let’s move to our dining area…
Do you notice something different in the eating area?
Yes, spring is certainly blooming here. But did you notice the CONCRETE table?
The hardest thing to let go when we downsized was our concrete dining room table! I cried for two weeks! Seriously!!!!!
But I found another concrete table just right for this area! I’m thinking about painting the legs because I think the legs are a bit heavy. So I’ll paint them or have a local artisan turn new legs!
Either way, I’m so happy I found another concrete topped table.
You can get a tiny peek at the sunroom to the right in the picture below. The kitchen is to the left.
The tiered round tray is the focal point in the dining area! And it’s full of pretty spring elements!
I just can’t wait to dig in the dirt and try my hand at container gardening this spring! But it’s still a bit too early here. So for now, I have herbs planted in cute little pots! The sun pours into the window here so they should be fine until I repot them on the patio! Now I just need to remember to water them!
I adore orange tulips! So they are the pop of color in our neutral home this spring! And they are the real deal!
We are pretty much staying at home these days but I did slip out to a local farm market for bread, eggs, and tulips!
I’m not sharing the kitchen because it won’t be done until this summer. We will see how all the Coronavirus mess turns out. Safety before beauty! We did have our third meeting with the designer to pick out molding and glass and countertop and hardware and more. I’m just so excited to get started!!!! I love the look of Calcutta marble. We are looking at white marble that has warmer tones of caramel and ivory with just a taddy bit of gray.
Unfortunately, there is no kitchen to tour, but you can peek at the most recent makeover here. Our sunroom…
The sunroom has windows on three sides with just the prettiest views of our golf course and a horse farm and Lancaster countryside! However, the room itself is small and boxy with the forth wall almost completely opening to the dining area. It also has a cathedral ceiling.
I fell in love with this room and its views!
This room is done except for the planking on the cathedral ceiling. Again, we might have to wait a little while to get the workers in here to do it.
I know the world is a bit crazy right now, to say the least. I hope this spring tour has given you some doable spring decorating ideas and has brightened your day!
Stay safe and calm and please visit another beautiful southern girl, my sweet friend Kristy at Kristy Little My Southern Home! You will love her and her classic southern traditional style! Tell her I said Hi!
HAPPY SPRING and lots of love to all of you!
