Did I really NEED new living room lamps. Truth? NO! But I have been looking for the just-right ones for over a year. I really, really wanted new lamps. Gorgeous lamps, big lamps, neutral lamps with an unpainted, painted finish. Lamps that would be on the most incredible sale (like everything else I purchase). Lamps that would fit into my living room decor so so well that I would sigh every time I walked by them! Guess what, I found THE lamps! And yes, I bought them. Sometimes we just need… or want to do that sooooo bad!
These lamps came from the PotteryBarn Outlet and they were over half off! I still had to bite my bottom lip when I paid for two of them… but oh, I’m so thrilled with how they finish off this room!
Here are the lamps in the living room BEFORE…
These Oriental brass lamps have such a history with me! My daddy brought them back from a military tour in the northern tip of Japan during the Cuban Missle Crisis. After years and years in my mother’s home she gave them to me and I’ve had them for a couple decades. They are solid brass and weight a ton. I did… for just a couple of seconds… think about painting them. But I banished the thought out of my mind, never to return. And decided that putting them in another room in my home would be far better!
Here are the new lamps… the AFTER!
NOW saying that… I’m sure that some of you will like the old lamps better and that’s okay. But please be kind. My mother always told me, “If you can’t say something nice… don’t say anything at all”. My blog is NOT Rate My Space!
Don’t you love the patina? That is one reason I could not resist these lamps!
The old brass lamps have found a new home in my bedroom. A big makeover, coming this late fall or early winter!
I’m so happy I took the plunge. I think the new big heavy neutral lamps go a long way to completing the “look” in my living room!
What one thing do you wish you could change in your living room but really don’t have to?
Let’s play… “ONE OF THESE THING DOESN’T BELONG HERE”… I took this shot and something is very out of place. Can you find it and can you tell me what it is. I’ll reveal it in a comment tomorrow evening! This would have been a “blooper” but I thought it would be fun to play along!
A big wonderful shout-out to my friends at the Long Island Pottery Barn for being just FABULOUS and HARD WORKING and getting my lamp to me. YOU really are the best!
