YES I KNOW!!!! Before I get into this post, I do know that the rug in the dining room is wavy. But, I just could not wait to show you the dining room’s latest new look. More on the wavy look later in the post. I’ve wanted to update the rug in here for about a year. I realized that I’ve accented my home with blacks and the dining room looked a little out of place. No blacks! It did not flow like the rest of the house. Here is what the old rug looked like in the dining room…
And here’s the new one…
Please try to ignore the waves in the carpet. I know they are distracting They were horrible last week. We did everything to reverse them. Reverse rolled the carpet, stretched it, vacuumed out the waves, etc! The whole carpet needs to go outside in the sunshine for an hour or so the warmth of the sun will relax the fibers. And that won’t happen until the ground dries out from all the snow we’ve gotten! Maybe next week.
The carpet came from Ballard Designs. I decided to put an indoor/outdoor carpet in the dining room because this area can get lots of wear…and I love the design! Once the wave situation is ironed out (pun intended) I’ll add a great pad underneath it. The look and the feel of this carpet is so rich and elegant. Who knew that indoor/outdoor rugs were so beautifully made… well, you probably did, didn’t you?
The carpet picks up the taupe of the curtains and the golds in in the tray ceiling and the buffet. And the black was the color I was seeking to add! I used so much gold and yellow in my last house remodel that I got totally away from it when I went neutral. I really missed the gold… so I brought it back!
The sun streams through this room. Beautiful to see…not so great for photography!
Since we put the rug in the dining room, I feel a case of “new slipcovers” coming on! Oh, yea!
What do you think? Do you like the new, more modern look?
