Christmas is the perfect time to make hot chocolate. But not just any hot chocolate… peppermint hot chocolate! It’s a great way to put all those candy canes to good use! I think of hot chocolate as a liquid dessert. It’s a special treat so you want to to be worth it. It should be scrumptious and leave you very satisfied! The Christmas season is the best time to serve this velvety drink along with a couple cookies! This hot chocolate is especially easy to make because your slow cooker does all the work! Let’s make Christmas Peppermint Hot Chocolate!

CHRISTMAS PEPPERMINT HOT CHOCOLATE
2016-11-27 04:04:17

A velvety chocolate peppermint drink.
Ingredients
- 1 TBS cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup hot water
- 5 oz. bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped
- 1 quart whole milk (4 cups)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 7 candy canes finely crushed. I crush mine in the food processor
Instructions
- Mix the cocoa with the hot water to make a thin paste.
- Add all the ingredients to the slow cooker. Cook on low for 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes. If the chocolate does not melt after the first hour turn the slow cooker on high for the last hour stirring every 30 minutes.
- Serve with marshmallows drizzled with chocolate syrup.
