ON THE MENU SEPT 2ND
The apple tree here at StoneGable has a story like many things do here. When it was very little an unnamed person living here ran over it with the lawnmower. Ouch! But this stubborn little tree would not succumb to a machine! See how I used apples on the menu this week……

Where do you get your recipes from? Family? Cookbooks? My blog (oh, please!)? My favorite place to hunt recipes is on Pinterest. You can follow my Foodie Fun board HERE. ON THE MENU WEEK OF MARCH 26TH
Hey, friends! Did you miss me? I’ve didn’t post for a few days last week. There was a “perfect storm” in my life. First of all, we did have a legitimate nor’easter! That dumped about 8 inches on us here at StoneGable. And on Wednesday when I opened my computer the screen was a ghastly green! My computer died. By the time our township dug us out and I could get a new computer and set it up it was yesterday!…
ON THE MENU WEEK OF JANUARY 14TH
I think if I were not a teacher or a decorator I would have gone to culinary school. I love food and the technique it takes to coax every bit of flavor out of something that grows in the ground or comes from animals. I love to feed people and have lots of those I love around my table. Food is so much more than just eating, it is a way of life! Here’s what’s on the menu this week……

Last night I went to my high school class reunion. What a blast! I got to reconnect with loads of people I love from my childhood and teenage years. And it was so nice to see how we grew up. As I’m sharing my weekly menu I want to remind you that life is so short… so reach out to someone you miss!…

HAPPY APRIL! I love this month. It’s the time that the Bradford Pears come out to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Almost every year in this area the Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom for Jacqueline’s birthday. So when she was little I told her those trees bloomed for her birthday. So fun! It’s also my son Christopher and darling daughter-in-law’s wedding anniversary and Bobby and mine too! What a great celebratory month. It’s also the beginning of farm to fork eating in my area! YUM! Here’s what’s ON THE MENU this week…
ON THE MENU FEBRUARY 26TH
I always “jump the gun” when it comes to transitioning from one season to another. Especially when it comes to Spring! I love love love gardening… or at least the idea of gardening. So digging in the dirt in the spring is such a joy to me. Coaxing the earth after it’s winter nap and bringing green things to life! My love of seasons continues on in what we eat too. I am such a seasonal, eat-what-is-growing-locally kind of girl. I’m already transitioning my recipes to reflect the end of winter and the beginning of spring!…
ON THE MENU WEEK OF FEB 19TH
I almost feel spring in the air, could that be right? We are having some lovely weather this weekend but I’m sure the cold will be back for a few more weeks. I am such a seasonal cook. I say, “what’s local is best”! And that means cooking from my garden and local farm stands. Right now not much is growing, except in local greenhouses, so I’m so looking forward to the earth waking up and blessing us with great things to eat! For now I’m eating from last year’s bounty safely tucked away in my freezer!…
ON THE MENU DECEMBER 18, 2016… and FESSING UP!
It’s Christmas week! The most beautiful week of all the year! I hope you soak up and drink in every minute! On a personal note, I have something to tell you that I have been hiding for awhile. Have you noticed that I’ve been missing a bit this week? Well, time to fess up. I’ve been walking around on a fractured ankle (in a boot) for a few months. Unfortunately, it was near a very arthritic area of my ankle/foot and got so bad I had surgery on Tuesday. A pin and a plate later and 5 days in the……

I feel like I should start this post with, “HO HO HO”! It’s Christmas land here at StoneGable! The halls are decorated and lots of gifts are wrapped. And this week I’ll be making cookies. All this talk about cookies is making me hungry. So let’s see what’s ON THE MENU!…
