bHOME SUMMER OPEN HOUSE TOUR
*Make sure you enter the $200.00 bHome and Painted Fox Giveaway at the end of this post!
Summer at StoneGable means being outside in the garden, and company and long summer evening on the porch and patio and cooking light and grilling and lightening up home decor!!!! I love to decorate for the summer. And I’m so excited to share with you what I’ve done this summer! Come on in… out of the heat and I’ll show you StoneGable, the SUMMER EDITION!
This is a l-o-n-g post filled with lots of images. Grab a cup of something and settle in!!!
I’m extra excited about this Summer Home Tour because it is sponsored by bHome. 31 fabulous bHome bloggers are sharing their homes and decor and lots of decorating wisdom too all this week! Today’s homes are at the bottom of my post as well as Monday and Tuesday’s!
And make sure to stop back here and get the links for the homes for the rest of the week!
Let’s start in… THE FOYER
I’m keeping things really simple in the foyer!
Now let’s move to the DINING ROOM…
Even thought the nearest beach is about 2 hours away I added some pretty shell decor to my neutral dining room! Who says we can’t decorate with shells if we don’t live at the beach!!!
I call my summer style in the dining room BEACH CHIC.
To see an easy-peasy 10 MINUTE SUMMER DECOR decor using shells click HERE.
Let’s head across the foyer to the LIVING ROOM…
Our Annabelle hydrangeas are blooming around our front porch. These beauties can wilt easily. There are some easy ways to keep cut hydrangeas from drooping. Click HERE to see a post on these tips!
We’ve seen the “front” of StoneGable. Now let’s head to the back. The FAMILY ROOM…
The family room is usually very neutral too! But I have collected so much red, white and blue decor for decades that I decided to use it this year. It all started with these POTTERY BARN INSPIRED PATRIOTIC STARS I made.
Here is a picture standing in the kitchen looking through to the right side of the family room.
Now let’s take a peek at the BREAKFAST ROOM between the kitchen and family room…
This is a hard room to photograph because of the windows and door!!!! This is a first-time view of it from this angle.
Now let’s move to my favorite room… THE KITCHEN
I still have more of my SUMMER TOUR to share… but that’s for another day! I think you’ve looked at plenty of pictures! Thanks so much for stopping by StoneGable and seeing how we do summer here!!! But, don’t go away just yet… there is still so much to see!!!! Before you head over to the other links today…

You have a stunning home. I love the use of black in the neutral schemes, it’s a colour I’m a little afraid of using but I can see now that it adds lovely points of interest x
Love the patriotic decorating! Amazing!!!
I think I’d be in hydrangea heaven living at your house Yvonne. How amazing are those blue ones at your front entrance!
Thank you for taking us on a tour of your beautiful summer home. It’s a real treat for sure.

Very pretty. Looks inviting!
I can see so much love in your home. Your home is just beautiful. Happy Summer!
Breathtaking! I am in awe.
loving the coastal vibe and the classic red, white and blue going on throughout your beautiful home. Did I miss the new chairs in the family room? they look amazing .
I had the leather chairs slipcovered. More about that next week! Thanks for noticing!
Fantastic tour! I love how you have created a neutral backdrop and infused pops of color that can be changed with your mood or the seasons… so smart! I look forward to my turn up on amazing bHome tour tomorrow!
Such a lovely and tasteful home. It makes me feel great to look at your beautiful pics!! Nice to see my favorite flower scattered through many of your rooms. Nothing like great neutrals and fresh flowers to signify the first sign of summer
The patriotic accents are such a wonderful color addition. From Flag Day to Fourth of July those are the accents I love to use inside and outside. I put small flags in the wreath I have by my front door which also sports a blue and white stripped ribbon.
You are spot on!!!
Entered…my user name is debianne. Thanks for the opportunity to enter!
Hi Debi! Welcome to our bHome hive!!! Please look me up and join in my chat!!!!
Beautiful tour, Yvonne and I love all your patriotic additions. That just says summer, for sure! Super cute mantel, too.
Absolutely gorgeous, Yvonne! You are so talented! Thank you for sharing…and inspiring!
Thanks Sue!!!
Love your red, white and blue. I am going to get started on mine right now.
beautiful tour! where did you find the pretty dish/glass rack on your buffet i the kitchen eating area? i have just the space for it! bhome user name is jc1959.
HI Jerri,
I found the rack in Luckett’s Va at the Luckett’s General Store. It weights a ton!!!
Wow! Your home is just beautiful! You are so talented, I love it! Thank you so much for sharing it with us!!
Your home is stunning and so inviting Yvonne, I love everything about it! The pops of color and coastal accents are perfect summer additions to your decor. Can you tell us more about the piece over your buffet in front of the mirror, it’s so unique, and provides such great additional storage and display area.
Lauren, I love your blog too! It feels so much like my home and I’m always so so inspired when I visit you! The dish rack on the bar came from Luckett’s General Store in Leesburg Va about 4 years ago. It’s a heavy piece. I’m trying it on the bar because I want to plank that wall behind the bar and build some great looking shelves to house my ironstone. I am using the rack there to see if I will like the shelves before Bobby builds them.
Could you talk about the backsplash above your stovetop? It’s so beautiful, but how do you keep it from getting splattered? Do you take it down when cooking?
Hi Jeanette. The backsplash is actually a big chalkboard. It is covering up the backsplash I don’t like. It does get splattered and that’s okay, because I change the menu. Just a quick wipe and it’s clean again!
Yvonne – I always look forward to your posts. You’ve made Stone Gable into a beautiful home. I’m always inspired by you.
Your home is the most beautiful in blog land. It is a blog I look forward to. I was was wandering what would be the closest beach? Reason I ask, is that I am sitting on Bethany Beach at this very moment. I was thinking that is close to you. Please keep inspiring me!
Hi Linda, You are about 3 hours from StoneGable. We actually have family that live in Bethany Beach! Enjoy this glorious weather!
Your home is absolutely gorgeous. Always so much inspiration.
What a compliment coming from you Marty!!!! THanks. I admire you so much!
Once again you outdid yourself Yvonne!!! I love every square inch of your home – I’m going to sneak into your suitcase at Haven and go home with you for a visit!! 😉 We have such similar decorating tastes and loves- lanterns, candles, crystal, shells….your home is so Summer Sensational!! So fun to join you on this amazing bHome open house tour my friend! Pinning! xo H
I can’t wait to see you and give you a big hug at Haven!!!!!
Beautiful as always! And loving the new views that help see how everything flows together…but the best part of your blog is you. You always have great energy and a positive attitude that I enjoy visiting. (I have stopped following some blogs because I found a negativity or fake-ness that underscored everything positive. No time in life for that! ) thanks for sharing!
So beautiful Yvonne and the first thought that popped into my head was “classy”. Thank you for sharing and inviting us in…happy to have been on the tour with you and the bHome ladies!
Right back at you, Janet!
Gorgeous! Thanks for the tour.
Beautiful Summer decorating ideas Yvonne. Your home is soooo beautiful and as others have said classy. It’s inspires me to think outside the box and look at different things to decorate with. Thanks for just being you.

YEA!!! So happy your are having fun with the bHome app! We all love it too!!!!
Can you share what you have the cups hanging from? Is it a curtain rod?
Thanks,

Hi Nancy, The cups are hanging from a kitchen rod from Ikea. They are very very inexpensive and so clever!!! Hope this helps!

Edith & Evelyn Vintage
Yvonne, your house looks lovely! I love the patriotic nuances, the pretty flowers, and the three plates on the wall!
Yvonne,
Stunning Summer Decor, dear friend!!!
Your dining room is the most exquisite in The Land of Blog!!!
I adore its formality, yet it is so~o~o inviting!!! The wooden cupboard door on the table is very creative!!!
The main thing I notice, besides all the gorgeous accessories and detail, is how one room seamlessly flows into the others!!!
I am quite smitten with the addition of the Red, White and Blue within your Family Room!!!
Love, LOVE, L O V E the red geraniums against the black shutters!!!
Thank you for sharing your lovely home in the bhome Summer Open House!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Hi Yvonne,
I thoroughly enjoy reading your blog and seeing the beautiful, creative things you do in your home. I was looking at the chandelier you have hanging over your dining room table. Did you add a shade over an existing chandelier? I have a chandelier that belonged to my parents and was thinking about hanging it over my dining room table but don’t know if it will coordinate with the rest of my furnishings. I like the fixture in your dining room and was wondering if you bought it with the shade?
Thank you,
Kathryn
Hi Kathryn, the chandy did come with the shade. I bet you could find a tutorial on google for adding a shade to a chandy. Sounds like a great project!
Yvonne,
Thanks for allowing us to leer at your home! Beautiful!

The only thing missing is me sitting out on that gorgeous back patio waiting to have a nice long chat with you Yvonne! 😉 I’ve always said that my house wants to be your house when it grows up and seeing your summer home tour confirmed that once again. I absolutely love every single detail and especially that amazing patriotic mantel! So fun being apart of this open house tour with you my friend. Much love!

So happy you have joined our HIVE!!!
Yvonne!! Love your home always, but the summery feel it is evoking now is really something! Also is that a new rug in the dining room. I LOVE it! DO share the source…
xx
Yes, Kelly! The rug is fairly new. It came from Ballard and is one of their indoor/outdoor rugs. LOVE that for the dining room. Thanks for all the bHome love you show us!
Fantastic tour Yvonne, your home is truly a masterpiece. Your eye for detail shows in every room.
You have such a lovely home Yvonne I’m always captivated at how you decorate with black! LOVE IT!! Thank you for sharing all your pictures:D
Your home is always so elegant, just like you…xo
I always love all your personal touches on everything in your home! I could walk around in it and drool the whole time. Wondering where you got the metal rack on the sideboard in the breakfast nook that holds dishes and wine glasses. What a cool idea!
Oh…..user name is janice6700…….
Welcome to the bHome family! Make sure you “favorite” StoneGable by clicking on the star in the bottom right corner of my image on the “popular” window. Come and chat with me!
The dish rack came from Luckett’s General Store in Leesburg Va a couple of years ago.
Beautiful home Yvonne! I’m in love with your breakfast nook…how perfect!!
Your home is stunning! I’m so drawn to the colour combination of neutrals that you used, black and white with the warm brown floors. Seriously, I’m in love!
This was such a treat, Yvonne! Your decorating skills never cease to amaze me—your home is stunning!
Jane x
Beautiful home tour! And boy…you have a lot of stuff. Not sure I could keep it all so clean, tidy and displayed so gorgeous. You have talent. Thanks for all the inspirations! Smiles, Kathleen
Yvonne, Your home is always so beautiful and inspiring! I love how you decorate for every season and summer is no exception! Your home is every bit as warm and welcoming as you are, my friend! So happy to be touring with you! 🙂
Thanks Julie! I’m heading over to your gorgeous home right now!!!
Whites and creams seems to be the trend in home decor. I love the idea but I am still drawn to rich color palettes.
I say, live with what you love!!!! Rich colors look beautiful too!
Wow – you have such a beautiful home. Thank you for the tour and the chance to win.
Love the pillows, the stars, the whole red, white, and blue theme on the white backdrop!
Love those blue and white bowls too! Wow!
Loved the home tour and your design style! I have to ask about your both your natural woven area rug and your antiqued chest with the swirl design in your living room…Did you refinish that piece yourself or purchase it? It is striking. Love the look of the area rug but have concerns about maintenance of it and also comfort. I have grandchildren that love to play on our floor and concerned it might be rough for them and uncomfortable for bare feet. What are your thoughts on this and where did you find it? Thanks so much for your help!
Hi Judy, Let’s address these questions. The chest is from Hooker and it’s called the Curlacue chest. I see it occasionally on Wayfair and Joss & Main. Keep your eye out for it, because there prices are great. However, they do not call it the Curlacue chest.
As far as the natural fiber rug… it came from overstock.com and it is quite soft. However, my little dog unravelled the one end so I’m replacing it. Rugs like this are so so inexpensive. So even if I’d have to replace it every year or so that would be fine.
Wonderful tips on this BLOG!! I tried soaking the blooms and dissecting the stem…. It WORKS!! Awesome:-))
Thank you for the tour of your home. I absolutely love the dining room chandelier and the mercury looking lamp with the beige shade! It was a delightful tour! Peace and many Blessings!!
Thanks for sharing your beautiful home, Yvonne! I look forward to your posts everyday and all your great ideas. I would kill to have a home this size with more room to decorate!
My username on BHome is 3695.

I joined, user name docia . Love your home!
I could linger her all day, Yvonne! I love how you mixed so many elements together … effortlessly and beautifully! Such an inviting and lovely summer home! Happy Summer, friend!
You have such a beautiful home. Loving all the thoughtful and beautiful details. Just perfect!! So happy to be a part of this tour with you.
xo Michael
I enjoyed seeing your home. I like your color combinations. What brand of sofa do you have and what fabric and color? I have been searching for a comfortable sofa in that color. My user name is witoka
Both of the sofas, in the living room and family room are from Pottery Barn. The fabric is “flax’ on the living room sofa and “performance ivory” in the family room. I waited until the sofas were on sale to buy them. Hopes this helps!
You have the most beautiful home and you have decorated it to perfection….so stunning! I love vistiing you each week to see what you have done next!
When I get my cottage in heaven, will you come over and decorate it for me? LOVE. LOVE. LOVE.
SO SWEET!
Somehow I missed your summer tour when you first posted it, but was thrilled to get the tour today. Every room is absolutely perfect! I especially enjoy your photos showing the entire room first, then narrowing in on key elements, and close up shots of your artistically crafted vingettets. Often bloggers only featute the close ups, which are stunning, but I like to see the whole room too. I like to imagine being a guest at that home, and seeing the rooms as you would if you first stepped thriugh the doorway! Have a joyful 4th of July!
Yvonne, you have the most gorgeous home!!!!!!! Your attention to every little detail is outstanding. The living and dining rooms literally take my breath away! Thanks for all your wonderful inspiration.
I love your home and have used many of your ideas, you are such a talented decorator. I enjoy your blog too…
Where did you purchase your glass jars on kitchen counter and what size are they and curious what you store in them, I love the idea.
Thanks, Bernadette! The glass jars came from overstock.com. Hope this helps!
Yvonne,
Lovely! Lovely! Lovely!
Question for you. Did you use the same cream color in living room, family room, kitchen and dining room? Please share the name. Probably BM paint, right?
Thanks
Diane
I love your home and especially the beautiful dining room chairs. Where did you get them?
Love your home!! I am pamelarose
Have a blessed day
The love of The Lord is the heart of your home, and it shows. Thanks for letting us enjoy the beauty that surrounds you.
I tried so hard to figure our how to leave a comment on the B-home app which I have on my iPhone but failed to figure out how. Sometime could you do a post on how to use the app? That would be so helpful. Hope you can enter me for the $200 Lettered Fox drawing this way. enjoyed looking at her site.
Loved your flag pillows in the family room. Your home is so inviting.
Meant the drawing from the Painted Fox!
If you don’t mind, I’d love details on your coffee table. It’s way harder than I expected to find something I like! Gorgeous space, thanks for sharing xx
Hi Carli,
The coffee table in the living room came from Ethan Allen. It has such a nice finish. Sorry, I don’t see it on their site any longer.
I’m going to give them a call to see if they might still have it, fingers crossed! Thanks Yvonne! I’ll let you know if I end up tracking it down 🙂
I tracked it down! It’s the Swenson and it’s actually on clearance right now because they’re discontinuing it! Thanks so much it’s absolutely perfect for my space. I’ll send a pic when it arrives if you’d like 🙂
I have been looking for a chandelier like the one in your lovely dining room. Could you kindly share who makes it. Thank you!
Hi Tracy, Thanks so much for your interest in my chandy! You can find all the info here in this post: https://www.stonegableblog.com/a-new-chandy-for-stonegable/. I hope it answers all your questions!
Beautiful home!! Where did you get the mirror Foyer? I love it!!
Hi Rachel, The mirror came from Ballard Designs
Hi, I love the color of the coffee table with the tapered legs and rosetts/fluted trim work. Is that paint or stain and what color is it. It’s beautiful.
Thanks Todd Warren
Hi Todd! It’s sandblasted wood with a luminous glaze. Hope this helps.
Just loved looking at this again thank you. Most of all though, I hope you feel better soon. There is nothing worse than a summer cold, somehow they always feel worse than in winter when I suppose we expect them more! Get well, Susan x
Hi Yvonne,
I love your summer home tour!! Especially the seashells and red, white, and blue! I have tons of nautical decor because that’s my style and I’m 20 minutes from the beach! I love following on BHOME too! Thanks for the giveaway! My username is User 9801
I absolutely love your home, especially your kitchen. I would like to have one of the storage racks like you have at the end of your island. Would you mind telling me where you purchased it? I hope you’re feeling better soon.
OMG! I so love your home. Just beautiful. I love the black, industrial, French farmhouse all rolled into one. Where did you find the gorgeous picture of the row houses in the black and taupe tones. Would be perfect in my entry way. I also love the corrugated metal candle holders. I bought some corrugated paper to try and paint to resemble but if you have a source would be even better. Again, just love your home. I also go back and drool over all your posts!
Thanks so much Joanne for your lovely comment. The image you like seems to be very popular. It was done by a Washington DC painter named Daniel Kessler. Here is a post with more info about him and his paintings.https://www.stonegableblog.com/7-foolproof-ways-to-choose-art-for-your-home/
Wow! Gorgeous, love it! I would say my favorite is the kitchen as well. I also love all the patriotic touches for the summer and the starfish kisses in the dining-room! ?? ?
Wow! Everything is so pretty and perfect. What a great tour! Hummmmm. I need to make a few changes in my own space-I appreciate the inspiration.
Yvonne, your home takes my breath away! Just beautiful!
Your home is so beautiful and is such an inspiration. I have been trying to find canister jars that seal – so yours seal shut? Where did you get them?
Mine don’t seal Linda. But they are fine.
Did you get rid of your concrete top dining table?
Oh no! I love that table. This post was last year’s summer home tour. I’ve been quite under the weather with a horrid cold, so I wanted to share some of last year’s best.
As usual it’s all so beautiful. Crisp, clean and warm and inviting all at the same time.
Beautiful home! Feel better!
I like your style but how do you keep everything dusted? I hate moving around all the chotzkies (sp?) as I dust so I have limited them and gone more minimalistic. Any dusting/cleaning tips to share?
I love my feather duster! Use that on flat surfaces that have lots of things on them. Then once a month take everything off your surfaces and give all of is a great cleaning
I love your home and your style. I’m wondering if you can share with me how you photograp you photograph your home. Is it done professionally or do you do it yourself. If your the photographer, can you share some tips?
Hi Lynn, I do all my own photography. I am not a professional by a long shot! It’s been mostly trial and error for me. If you want to get into photography for your blog I’d say invest in a good camera and great lenses. And take an online photo course like Shoot Fly Shoot. I mostly don’t know what I am doing with a camera, but years of “playing” with it has given me an eye for what works. Sorry, I can’t help you more. My dear friend Anita from Cedar Hill Farmhouse is an expert at photography and I think she has an online course you can take.
Hi Yvonne, your blog is the 1st I ever followed and I look forward to every post. Love your style and your beautiful home. Love love love your dining table. I think the wood table balances all the light colours in the room and adds warmth so much better than your other table.
You know, when you first started talking about renovating, I couldn’t imagine how you could possibly make it any more beautiful than it already was, but you did! I love it!!!!
In kitchen near stove, is this a curtain rod used to hang cups?
Hi Dina, The rod came from Ikea and has lots of great attachments to hang on it.
Your home is beautiful! Where did you get the white plates above the row house picture?
Hi Tina, I found them at a local Craft Market. Sorry, I don’t have more of a source!
Hello Yvonne! I love how your home looks here!!! I’m coming over to say I am excited that Cindy of County Road 407 picked your coffee table for this month’s (August 2019) Pinterest Challenge. I actually didn’t see your photograph until after I’d shot my table so I’ll tie mine together with what I didn’t use and by color. Still lots of fun!
Have a great week and thank you for the inspiration!
Hugs,
Barb 🙂
Hello,
Your home is beautiful! I’m assuming the liner on the coffee table tray and the books in the foyer are adhesive liner? Can you please share where you got it from?
Thanks,
Rachel
Hi Rachel, I made them. I mod podged the burlap to the bottom of the tray and here is a tutorial for making burlap covered books:https://www.stonegableblog.com/burlap-covered-book-diy/
Such a lovely home- your patriotic decor is my favorite! That area rug in your dining room is gorgeous! I have a large rug in my dining room as well, but with 3 kids it is always dirty… so I feel like it makes the rest of the room look not put together. I have even tried professional rug cleaners and DIY solutions. How do you keep your rug looking so clean and nice?
