Art is one of the most subjective and interesting things we can put in our homes. If you are like me, art can also be daunting! Art can be very expensive and I tend to grow tired of it after awhile! Recently, I have been drawn to architectural elements. I love old chippy pieces! On a trip to Washington DC I picked up 8 chippy, wonderfully dirty pieces of molding from houses that must be over 100 years old! I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them… but I knew they were coming home with me!
Makes me wonder what old house they came from?
Here’s what I did with 6 of the chippy architectural pieces… I turned them into architectural art!
I framed them in three chippy frames!
Each piece is a little different… but they have a whole bunch of character… and maybe a little hundred year old dirt!
And they are all backed with burlap stretched on a canvas…
And they have a very interesting 3D effect too!
The hardest part was hanging all three chippy, handmade frames in a straight row… but I didn’t have to! Bobby did it for me. Once I style the top of the hutch I think each side of the room will look more balanced!
What do you think? Do these old pieces help to bring a little rustic to the luxe of this room?
