FAQs ABOUT DECORATING

Start with one room at a time. Decide on your decorating style, your whole house color palette, and your budget. Then create a plan for each room and work your decorating plan until each room is complete

You don’t need a lot of very expensive furnishing for a room to look expensive. Keep to a tight color palette and choose more Transitional furnishing and accents that are more traditional and larger than smaller.

  1. Hello Yvonne,
This year we are contemplating a new sofa for the living room. We have had an off white sofa the last two go-rounds but this time I am considering going with a blue/teal sofa and painting the deep teal walls an offwhite. The room is completely open to the kitchen/dining area where my cabinets are Ben Moore’s Simply White, which we love. All my woodwork is slightly darker, cotton sheets by Behr and my windows were ordered to match so changing this is really not an option. Now that I have gotten my husband to agree to white walls, I am afraid I will not like it.
Since the room is on the small side, can you share what type sofas you have in your home in Tanglewood? I am uncertain if I should start with the room color or the sofa. I will appreciate any advice you can share.

    1. I have a sofa from Ethan Allen and I LOVE it! Here’s the big plus about this company, they will send out an Interior Decorator to help you… for free!

  2. I always love everything you do in your home. It does not matter if it small or large, you always, ‘ knock it out the park’. I to plan to buy a sofa, but having a son, now twenty yoa, it must be dark. I will be using more of your design ideas. Thanks, and I hope you and your family had a merry Christmas

    1. Hi Katherine, white is a gorgeous and classic color. Many bloggers are partial to white. I am seeing a move to darker moodier colors. Each to he own.
