Adding touches of farmhouse decor makes almost any home a little more cozy! There is something familiar and homespun and worn-in-a-comfortable way about farmhouse style! Just a few well placed pieces of farmhouse decor can bring that warmth and coziness to our homes! Here’s 6 ways to do just that!
1. TOOL CADDY
Old tool caddies are just begging to be filled with seasonal goodies. They exude lots of farmhouse style and make a big statement. When you find an old tool caddy… buy it!!! They are the best way I know to show off farmhouse style!!! My tool caddy is not old, but looks like it is. I filled it with a rambly-brambly assortment of organic fall things! It sits on my farmhouse table under a burlap runner-another great farmhouse element!
2. Old Silverware
Old silver is a great way to add a little shiny, bling to farmhouse decor. Vintage and antique shops are full of inexpensive old silver and silverplate. My favorite way to display them is in white ironstone pitchers. Over time they will acquire a soft tarnished patina…so pretty!
3. WHITE IRONSTONE
White dishes are not only beautiful, but are a wonderful way to display farmhouse charm! Especially if they are ironstone!!! I can’t get enough of them. Just add a few of them to a basket and throw in some pretty flowers and voila, farmhouse! My favorite way to display them is in this round basket with a farmhouse tea towel!
4. HANDMADE BASKETS
Earthy, organic and homemade! Baskets are not only utilitarian but fabulous to display. And add a little bittersweet and they add layers of farmhouse style to decor! Don’t you love the branch handle on this gathering basket? This basket sits under a table in my foyer welcoming all visitors and family.
Shutters are a way to get all the chippy texture that is so important in farmhouse style. Hang them , prop them and suspend them!!! They look like they came right off the farm! Clean them up but don’t take off too many layers of their grunginess I love the look of upscale decor layered with chippy shutters. Very chic… farmhouse chic!
Stools are simple, no nonsense farmhouse seating! Tall or short, stools are great ways to decorate. My favorite ways to use my farmhouse stools are to decorate them with a vignette. Here, a woven rattan seat holds some kitchen things and a big red geranium!
You don’t have to have a farmhouse to decorate with charming farmhouse accents! Adding cozy farmhouse elements brings warmth and texture to so many styles!!! I hope you leave inspired to add a little farmhouse charm to your home!
