I must have the most brilliant readers on the planet! YOU ask the best questions!!! Some I know the answers to, some I don’t, but I try to answer them all the best I can. When I see readers asking the same thing over and over I write it down and a couple times a year answer them in a post.
So let’s get started… here are the top 5 questions that have been popping up lately.
1. WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR TARTAN THROW/ WHAT PATTERN IS IT?
Right now this is the number one question I am asked.
The short answer is I got this “car rug” on e-bay. But there is more to this story. This beautiful tartan is called Antique Buchanan. My husband’s family is from Dundee Scotland and this is his clan’s tartan. It’s really perfect for fall, don’t you think?
I also have a deep rooted love of tartan! I spent a couple of years when I was young living right outside of Edinburgh. I wore a tartan uniform to school every day. So anything tartan pulls on my heartstrings! I have a “car rug”, which these throws are often called, from my childhood. The tartan below has been with me for over 50 years. It is a Dress Thompson tartan.
There are many wonderful shops on ebay that carry tartan throws. If you are in the market for a car rug make sure you get an authentic Scottish tartan and that it is wool. They wear like iron and will last a lifetime!
2. The next question make me giggle… HOW DO YOU DO IT ALL?
The real answer is, I DON’T! You should see my house sometimes! Blogging can sure make a huge mess. There is a whole lot of schlepping that goes into making a post look effortless! Take for example my recent post featuring a S’more Bar. It took me days to mull over the concept. Then all the parts of the S’more Bar were collected on my kitchen table and stayed there for 3 days because it was too windy to photograph! Then I had to assemble everything and fine tune it. Then take pictures. And then put everything away. Lot’s of work… but so worth it.
I don’t sweat the small stuff like I used to. I love what I do so if S’more stuff has to sit on my kitchen table for a few days, no biggie!
What you see on my blog IS my real life… but sometimes just a slice of it! I know that many bloggers say, “keep it real”. I say “IT IS”! I just don’t have to show it off to the world!
I run my blog like a full time job… which it is! I have “office hours” and a schedule and keep good records. I think I have the best and most fun job in the world!!!
3. WHAT COLOR ARE YOUR DOWNSTAIRS WALLS?
My downstairs walls are BENJAMIN MOORE SONNET. After painting our walls with a dozen sample colors we settled on a very neutral, very not-yellow, very not- grey, very pretty… white-ish beige.
Here’s how it looks on the paint chip sample… doesn’t it look sorta grey? Well, it isn’t at all!!!!
But here’s how it really looks on my walls…
4. WHERE DID YOU GET THE____________________________.
I am such a bargain girl! I almost never, ever, never buy anything for full price!!! As a matter of fact, it usually must be a really good deal! That does not mean I scrimp on quality or style, it just means I love the hunt. There are lots of places to get really nice things without paying a lot for them. Also there are so many ways to get a look for less! And Bobby and I are really big do-it-yourselfers. We save a ton of money if we can do things ourselves. We may work slowly, but we do get the work done!
5. HOW ARE YOU FEELING?
Many of you know that I have arthritis and had my knee caps replaced last November. NOT a knee replacement… just the caps. But in the end of January I got a staph infection in my left knee and a had emergency surgery and was in the ICU for a few days. I had months of IV antibiotics and lots and lots of other problems brought on by the antibiotics. Let’s just say it was not an easy time!
Yep, that was me!
Can you believe I blogged though this mess? I think blogging was one of the big things that kept me going!
The surgeon said it would take 18 months from the time of surgery until I had full use of my knees… but I think I have finally turned the corner and I am doing much better! I am beginning to feel like my old self… thank goodness! And thanks so much for asking and prayer for me!
I hope I have answered your questions! If you have a question for me feel free to send me an email. I love connecting with my fabulous readers!!!
