Christmas is a time of gift giving. Let’s keep Christmas gifts easy and under control this year. Gift giving is a way of telling someone, “I’m thinking of you”. A thoughtful Christmas gift does not have to break the bank! Or cause us angst or take hours and hours to pick out. We all strive to choose a gift that says to our special someones, “I know you”! Here are 10 easy to do tips for giving great inexpensive gifts this Christmas season!
I recently went shopping at Cost Plus World Market in Shrewsbury New Jersey during their Grand Opening. It was a delight to shop and have fun drinks and snacks while I shopped to the sound of a live band playing Christmas music. Now that’s shopping at it’s best!!!!
Don’t miss out on this great experience if you live anywhere near Shrewsbury New Jersey. The Grand Opening goes through Sunday December 13th!

DON’T OVERSPEND
Make a budget. At our home our family gets one or two “big gifts” and then a few thoughtful more inexpensive ones. Know when to stop! This is hard for me, because I love to spoil my family at Christmas. However, thoughtful gifts don’t have to cost a fortune!
Christmas gifts for friends, other relatives, co-workers etc can be small lovely tokens of esteem and good will!
I was looking for a second, small gift for my sister that would go with the gift I already got for her. She is the cook of the family. She is amazing. I just know she will love this unique and so pretty measuring cup! It was under $20.00. Fit right into my budget!
The peppermint bark behind the 2 cup measure never made it to my gift wrapping station. Bobby and I had a nibble of it last night. So good!
THINK ABOUT THE INTEREST OF THE GIFTEE
The best way to buy a Christmas gift for someone is to think about their interests! If they love to cook, then get them a cookbook or a kitchen gadget that thy might love! If you have a decorator on your gift list how about a pillow or a great tray? Think of things the giftee could use!
I have a couple of young girls on my list. They will love these pretty silver beaded bracelets and a jewelry organizer from World Market. Nothing was more than $14.99!
I found these trendy personalized signs for my girls. They will love them. I can see them on their desks at work or on their dressers at home! So cute! Right?
LOOK FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT
My children are the best gift givers! They seem to always find great gifts that are a little different and unique.
I found this cold brew coffee kit to my daughter-in-law and son at World Market also. Abby has often told me about her mother’s way of cold brewing coffee and she loves it. Who knew? Can you believe I found a Cold Brew Coffee Kit? She will love this gift! A great gift for under $20.00!
I found 2 bourbon sipping glasses to replace the 2 I broke. Bobby loved these glasses. And I got the same ones for less than half of what I paid for them in a speciality store. Same brand!!!
BE THOUGHTFUL BUT DON’T OVERTHINK IT
Just worrying about giving the right Christmas gift to someone can get our under gutchies all bunched in a knot! Head to a place like World Market where there are tons of unique gifts to choose from. When you find something you think they will like get it! You are probably right!
My son-in-law Jonathan is by far the hardest to buy for on my Christmas list. He has such distinct tastes. I usually get a list from him for his big items and then fill in with gifts I think he will love. This year I’m stocking his bar with these Premium Natural Mixers, a push muddler and a great drink container that says cheers. They do a lot of entertaining so these should be perfect! Nothing was over $20.00!
This beautiful scarf is for a guest coming to our home for a Christmas weekend. I love love love it so I think she will too!
PEOPLE LOVE CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS!
People love love love a stocking of small yet nice gifts! If you cannot find one thing that suites a person on your list try getting them a few little things! I love finding fun little things that will thrill the person I am giving the stocking to!
I’m tucking these adorable ladybug fingernail dots into a stocking for a little girl on my list! These Fingernail Friends were under $5.00!
ADD A LITTLE SWEETNESS TO YOUR GIFT!
Everyone likes a little something sweet! Why not tie a bit of prettily wrapped chocolate on a gift. Or tuck it into a stocking or box as an extra special treat! YUM!
I got a big bag of these pretty wrapped European chocolates at World Market for under $10.00 There must have been 15-20 pieces. I already ate a couple. So good while wrapping gifts!

In our house our dogs know it’s Christmas day and can’t wait to open their own Christmas gifts. One Christmas I had many of the gifts I was wrapping behind the sofa. Scamp went through them and found all this gifts and put them in a pile. To this day we have no idea how he figured that out! But he knew!!!! So don’t forget your pets.
THINK ABOUT YOURSELF TOO
Treat yourself to at least one small gift on a major shopping trip! Delight in something special and inexpensive. Like the perfect tin of peppermint bark or something for your bath.
Like these beautiful boxed flowers. Float the petals in your bath water for a fragrant and soothing bath. Aren’t they amazing and boxed so lovely too!
USE GREAT GIFT WRAP AND FUN TAGS
I found two isles of gift wrap and tags and bags and filler and tissue paper and embellishment of all kind that were 40% off at World Market! Oh I love great gift wrap… especially if it’s on sale!

Yvonne, I love, love, love World Market! Sadly I only get to one when I visit my Daughter in Silver Spring, MD. However, I get lots of wonderful and clever presents that she buys me there. We are spending Christmas there so I have been saving up the coupons that are in a few of the shelter magazines. I’m wishing you and yours a Merry and Bright Christmas!
I would love to receive those flowers for the bath, I’ve never seen anything like them. I do so enjoy a good soak 🙂
I love browsing at World Market—one of my favorite stores. Your blog is fabulous and I can’t wait to read each day. I left you a message a couple,of days ago when you featured your kitchen. I was wondering where you purchased your plate hooks for hanging your aprons? Have you had a tutorial about making plate hooks?
Yvonne~
I am a big fan of World Market !! I was disappointed when they closed their Fort Wayne 🙁 . The closest one is a little over 2 hours away in Indianapolis area, so when I visit my daughter it is a must shop stop. I do order off their website, but I rather go to the store !!!
Thank you for the tips , I beat myself up over gift giving 🙂
Paula
I hope World Market gives you a commission for all the free advertising you just gave them! Lovely gifts.
The nearest World Market is about an hour from me but we go there all the time. Usually two or three visits during November/December. Unique gifts and so much to choose from at fantastic prices. If you have not been to one, GO. Or order online.
I love World Market but the closest one is an hour and a half away. So the journey is part of the gift. Thanks for sharing your wonderful ideas.
