WINTER WHITE CHRISTMAS TABLESCAPE
If you need an idea for your Christmas table you are in the right place today! Or if you would love a few holiday entertaining tips, it’s your lucky day! I’m combining a Christmas inspired tablescape and a bunch of easy and doable entertaining tips. Christmas is THE time to be a FEZZIWIG! Yes, you remember the Fezziwigs from the book/ play/ musical/ movie A Christmas Carol. They were the kind, fun family that old Scrooge apprenticed for when he was a young man. This family had the best Christmas parties! And Mr. and Mrs. Fexxiwig were the epitomes of mirth and generosity and hospitality. They were jolly and winsome and the life of the party! They had true Christmas spirit and joy in their hearts! So, at this celebratory time of the year… let’s get our Fezziwig’s on!

Today is the second edition of
Last month this talented group of bloggers set a Thanksgiving table and now they are showing off and sharing a Christmas table to inspire you! Please visit all the beautiful tables that are being presented this week! You will find them at the end of this post.
My Christmas table is soft and white and snowy. Keeping the color very tight gives this winter white table a quiet feel. Like walking in the woods during a heavy snowfall! I LOVE snow and one reason for my appreciation is the way it makes the world so quiet!
Christmas is the perfect time to bring out all your white dishes and create a soft and visually quiet table! If you have a wooden table add a white tablecloth to carry through the theme!
My table is concrete and it is a soft gray that reflects the white.
The theme of this year’s StoneGable Christmas is TREES! And I wanted to make them the stars of my Christmas table.
I began dressing this table with the centerpiece. I laid down a wide path of faux snow on the table from one end to the other. It gave me a snowy forest bed to plant my trees… and candles… and ornaments in!
It’s fun to think outside the box when setting a special table. Try adding faux snow to your table. It will look ethereal! And use the whole length of the table to create a spectacular Christmas table centerpiece!
I like to repeat elements when I set a table. Our eyes like and notice things that have commonality! I used bottle brushes of many different sizes and shades of white. Some with sparkles, some with snow and some plain!
And some of the trees were very small!
Some mercury glass…
And even one tree that was a bottle brush tree inside a glass tree!
Think about your Christmas collections and use them en mass on your Christmas table! They will make a big statement!
I also used mercury glass candlesticks and candleholders, candles, a glass cylinder, a glass pedestal, mercury glass and pearly white ornaments, and mercury glass pinecones. They all work to create a soft, wintery centerpiece!
Because the centerpiece was what I want my guest to focus on the rest of the of the table is rather subdued. If you take away one thing from this post here it is… the more ornate the centerpiece, the simpler the rest of the table!
Keep it simple!!!!
But, simple does not mean boring!
I love love love white dishes with ornate edges. This is the perfect table to use them!
Look for plates with great edges and details! And stack plates to build layers of interest!
I like to top each place setting with a little take-home gift! I’m giving my guests some pretty ornaments that I got from a local shop.
This has become a tradition in our family. A thoughtful gift does not have to be expensive. Just a sweet gesture that lets your guest (family included) know that you are thrilled they are at your table.
Isn’t the detail on this tiny ornament beautiful?
I did bring out my Waterford for this Christmas table. The crystal literally sparkles, especially in candlelight!
When it comes to stemware use your best. Don’t let you nice things sit in a cupboard or closet. USE them… often! Enjoy what you have and let other’s enjoy them too!
Look at the silverware. Did you notice? It isn’t polished? I think a little patina on the silver looks amazing. You don’t always have to polish your silverware. It’s okay to set a table with silver that is a little tarnished!
My silver is only silverplate. But it’s so so pretty I’m proud to use it! I got this set of 12 place settings for $40.00 at a big yard sale. Silverplate is very very reasonable. Be on the lookout for a great chest of silverplate! And use it!
I’m thinking about using my silverplate for my everyday flatware!
I have three sets and love to mix and match them on a table
At StoneGable we have a big family brunch every Christmas morning. We usually eat in the breakfast nook. I’ll set a red and white table this year.
We eat the same thing every year. It really is the biggest and most work intensive meal of the day. We read the Christmas story at the table and linger over Christmas Breakfast Casserole, fruit, kielbasa, land of nod bread (upcoming post), nut roll, coffee and mimosas.
Instead of lunch we put out a cheese board and lots of other savory treats… and a big tray of cookies. When people get peckish they help themselves.
After a full day of enjoying family, gift giving and eating we opt for a quiet Christmas supper. Something that can be made ahead and eaten in a casual manner. One of our favorite Christmas meals is Gnocchi Guazzetto De Capriolo. A gorgeous venison stew (it can be made with a chuck roast also). I make the stew a couple days ahead and then add the gnocchi just before we eat it. I add a colorful Christmas salad and crusty bread to sop up the great juices.
Dessert is usually made ahead too. Because it is Jesus’ birthday we usually have a birthday cake with candles!
In year’s past we have invited friends to come for Christmas dessert. Everyone brings a dessert and we have a wonderful time late into Christmas night! This is a great idea if you do not have room to have lots of guest for dinner. Invite your friends for Christmas dessert!
Let’s all capture the generous and joyful spirit of Christmas this year and let’s be the best FEZZIAWIGS we can be!

How very beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
I am transitioning my dining room Christmas decor to the winter white color with woodland theme. I used to use all gold decor. I love the new styles! Thanks for the many ideas you give!
Simply beautiful
Very beautiful! This year I’m trying to be creative with my old decorations, I love them all and love to bring them out every year. The goal is to show them in a different setting.
Thank you keeping my creative side going.
Tiny Tim (A Christmas Carol) is a tradition. We see some version of the play each year. The best role I have seen played was at Venice Theatre in Florida. The aged but very talented Mr. Fezziwig started his dance and down came his pants exposing (fortunately) his boxers as well his wrinkles….. but the dear man didn’t miss a beat— he put himself quickly together… stpped to the front of the stage nd did an aside whispering…. you’ll pay more for this next time… and continued the performance. Sadly, we didn’t know then that there would be no ‘next time’ as our favorite Mr. Fezziwig passed before the next Christmas. My favorite version was always at Venice Little Theatre.
I’ve been using the “good silver” every day for 35 years. My now-adult children were raised using it and caring for it…no dishwasher, especially for all silverplate and all knives. Believe me, it becomes an easy habit, especially when every single meal shows a beautiful table. When our house was burglarized 25 years ago, none of the monogrammed sterling was taken, because it was sitting in the kitchen drawer and the sink drainer. “Use it, or lose it!” was never more apt!
So so true, we use our sterling silver every single day too!
Your tablescape is beautiful. I tend to use red and green in my table because of my Christmas dishes, but the white is beautiful. I like the snow idea also.
Lovely! I am coveting the bottle brush tree in the glass tree!
I loved the tablescape!!!! I’ve been toying with the idea of not serving a big Christmas dinner but having it on Christmas Eve instead. You’ve given me the go ahead! I’m even going to use both your recipes for Christmas Day. I’ve always run myself ragged on Christmas trying to get the meal prepared after all the morning festivities. Love your tradition.
I know! I want to enjoy Christmas not be a slave to the kitchen!
Love the mercury glass!
A beautiful table. Thank you for the inspiration.
Love the silver and mercury glass!
Very pretty love the entire tablescape, its a magical winter white wonderland and love the sparkle factor:)
Your tablescape is gorgeous, my go to color palette!
I love colorful Christmas but Oh! My! the white is stunning. It just makes me want to stop, close my eyes, and appreciate the beauty. The post is loaded with wonderful ideas! Thank you Yvonne!
Love the tablescape! Included two of my favorite Christmas decorations, mercury glass and bottle brush trees! Beautiful! Where did you find the bottle brush tree inside the tree? Love it!
What a wonderful way to brighten up the dining area on these long dark evenings. Your ideas are so inspiring.
beautiful.love all the ideas
Lovely table I also used the same colors and I love it. Question to you. Do you completely dismantle table so there is room for food or is it always buffet at your house?
I usually serve food buffet style for big dinners.
Gorgeous table. I love the mercury glass mixed in.
I love it, I am getting more and more drawn into silver and white, now I just have to convince the rest of the family and trust me that might be tough, none of them are shy and reserved, they all let their opinions be known to me!!!
This table setting is very pretty. I like the light colors
Beautiful – love your style.
I’m curious about photography. I’ve noticed most of the pictures I see on blogs are very white. I realize this is a setting of some sort (I really know NOTHING about taking pictures :)) and it certainly makes for beautiful pictures – however, I’m wondering what things look like in “real life”? As much as I love to look at all the professional pictures, I would love to see what it would look like in my world… Thank you for all the lovely ideas you show through your blog. I’m so very grateful for blogs like yours as they help to inspire me for my own home as well as the decorating I do for my church. Thank you!
Yvonne what a beautiful table! After doing the traditional red, green & gold for Christmas, I finally last year switched to a more neutral theme of various shades of white, off white, burlap, mercury glass, & my gold ornaments which have a nice patina due to age. I couldn’t love it more-it is just so soothing! And I really appreciated your reminder to use your nice dishes/silverware & not just keep them in a cupboard…I’m trying to get better about not just collecting things but actually using them on a daily basis!
STUNNING!!
Gorgeous and very festive, Yvonne. You do set beautiful tables!
You are so very talent. Would love to have a seat at your table.
So beautiful and elegant. I love to check and see your wonderful ideas each day. Thank you for your inspiration.
In love with your elegant table of Winter White. The trees and candlesticks certainly set the beautiful tone for the table. As always, such a beautiful table Yvonne!….Have a wonderful week!
I was sitting here last night with all my candles and did not know what to do!!! Have most of the same decor and now I have my inspiration ,,, thx. Yvonne!,,
I love the color white. When I see red and white it just makes me think of christmas. Thank you. It is so beautiful.
I am also transitioning into white this year. Love all the ideas.
Love that you used ornaments as place settings. Going to used that one.
Beautiful.
Pretty mix of textures. Very festive all winter long not just the holidays
You have made me completely addicted to mercury glass! I love all the different ways you use it. Every time I read one of your posts and see the beautiful images I want to go out and purchase another piece. Thank you for your inspiration!
Your tablescapes are always beautiful as is everything you do!
I love your table! It’s beautiful! I love bottle brush trees and mercury glass. It’s so inviting and pretty. I also love your Waterford Crystal. I have wanted Waterford for 30 years, and guess what? This year I’ve decided to start a collection! I told my husband how long I have wanted it (since before we were married) and I am going to collect a little at a time and build up. My sister wants my other crystal, which is perfectly fine. It’s just that I’ve wanted Waterford for so very long. Life is short, we work hard, and we should celebrate and use it!
I will be throwing faux snow down the center of my DR table–what a great idea.
I feel like I’ve been in a snowscape! Beautiful! Love the ornament on the plate! Thanks, Yvonne!
Simply beautiful. The white and soft gold with a little silver is so peaceful in a season where peaceful is sometimes a stretch.
Such gorgeous ideas.
So very lovely! After years of vivid colors (think Mexican sonatas) I am transitioning with your exquisite ideas toward silver and white–and red!
It’s like a mn winter landscape.
We are having holidays at our home this year. Excited to see all the treasures
that have been packed away. I’m doing white silver and of course white this year.
Adding the perfect touch of reindeer, on the plates and scattering them and their
hoof prints .
The challenge will be our 2 & 3 year old grand Littles, however they understand
Nana’s pretties and their own toys. We will not be having a kids table.
Thought about it, then decided they need to live in a grown up world.
I would love to see your kids tables apes. Have you done some before other then
birthday party theme ones?
Well sending blessings this first day of December.
May you never run out of scotch tape and package ribbon…j
Greetings Nana from another Nana in Minnesota.
You are so right it does look like a Minnesota winter landscrape:)
Winter White … So Classy! I have a question tho. Do you all keep the table place settings out on the table all the time? Or is that just for a photo shoot?
I do a white tablescape every year. Thanks for some new inspirations and ideas!
I have often said we must have been related in a former life, or something, as my table is almost the very same!! It’s like looking at my own dining room! I’ve collected various Christmas trees for ages now and love creating a frosty forest on my table. I also add greenery, various silver (and mirrored) balls and tuck white roses (in water picks) about two days prior to Christmas.
Beautiful table! I love your white dishes!
Very elegant table! I love Mercury glass and I have a nice collection of bottle brush trees, too!since I don’t have a formal dinning room I am looking forward to your table in your kitchen area.. Question for you, did you have someone make your concrete table or did you purchase?
Thanks Yvonne, you have given me such great idea’s for my Christmas table…..
Yvonne your tablescape is ethereal !! I can just picture it at night with just candlelight – just breathtaking Hugs, Dorinda
Yvonne, That table is just right. Love it!
Everything is so gorgeous. Looks like a wintery wonderland.
Stunning!
Beautiful table! A nice alternative to the traditional red and green. I like the use of mercury glass as it gives a lot of sparkle!
Loving the bottle brush trees and mercury glass trees.
I have picked up some bottle brush trees in a
champagne and I have some mercury glass trees
with a gold tint.I am trying to switch to a more
neutral pallet with touches of red.Your home is
always beautiful.
I agree totally…get out the Waterford..use it! We have the same pattern.
Just beautiful! I love everything that you decorate & make! I especially appreciate your true meaning of Christmas-Jesus. I am a Christian & had never learned what Advent was, thank you for sharing!
As always, I love your tablescapes, but what I loved about this post was your use of the word MIRTH to describe the Fezziwigs – what a great word that you never hear used anymore, and aptly describes Dickens’ characters!
Also, my family bakes a ” Baby Jesus” cake each year to celebrate his birth!
So beautiful!
I also agree about your comment to use your crystal. When I was a young adult, I started collecting Princess House to store in my hope chest. The consultants always said, “Use it!” I wish I had used it more often, but I will be incorporating some of the pieces into my seasonal decor in my new Wee Abode. I’m excited about that!
How are you all going to incorporate brunch on a Christmas Sunday? Will ya’ll have an early service?
White and silver is my favorite combination. You set up that table so beautiful and also love the “snow” on the table. Thanks
This Christmas I have done my mantle and tree with silver mercury glass and clear ornaments with a silvergarland.Even have used white amaryllis and paperwhites in that area. Love it in contrast to the natural theme I used last year. The red and green is in the kitchen with all red china and lots of holly, ivy ,pine and red berries. The formal living room is more old Williamsburg with lots of sugared fruit and large candles in glass chimneys. I am still figuring out my outside decorations but usually use real greens and pinecones out there with lots of white lights. Love this time of year and love reading about your beautiful house. Thank you.
I love the beautiful white theme. Everything just sparkles. I need to get a bottle brush tree and try that with a glass tree. Lovely.
Darling simple wreath in the window…do you remember where you found it?
I so love your table scape ” I love so love the white and light grey.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing your table pictures. I love the idea that you focus on spending time with those you love and on Christ in Christmas by having a birthday cake for Jesus.
Gorgeous table with a beautiful combination of mercury glass, white dishes, and bottle brushes! Would love one of each to add to my collection. I agree with your thinking of using what you have, old or new it makes the holidays so very special.
Beautifully elegant! I love seeing how you think outside the box. Very inspirational!
I love to hear that StoneGable inspires you! Music to my ears!
Beautiful! And yes, I love silver with patina. It’s all beautiful in my opinion, polished or patina’d.
Lovely….like the snow flakes with your tablescape.
Beautiful Yvonee! Thank you also for sharing what you do on Christmas with your family. I love to hear how others celebrate Christmas.
I love the white dining theme!! Peaceful and serene! Love the snow idea!!
Beautiful table. I recently bought cement topped coffee and end tables. How do you care for the cement top?
You should contact your manufacturer to know exactly how to care for your concrete. You never know what each manufacturer might say.
Absolutely stunning!!! Yvonne, you must have started saving bottlebrush trees really early this year. Can’t imagine how many it took to do this, but each one is a gem!
This is so beautifully done. I love your idea of the lingering brunch it makes so much sense. I am going to check out your recipes! Happy Holidays!!
So pretty, Yvonne! I love the bottle brush trees!
You know how much I love white…and the snow on the table is an idea that I may steal from you my friend!
xo,
Janet
xo to you Janet!
Love the beautifu ornaments on the plates
The all white table is gorgeous! I’ve started collecting pretty white dishes and can’t wait to get enough to start setting a table. And your idea for meals on Christmas Day is awesome. Hope you don’t mind if I copy you on these. Thank you so much.
Love love love the white dishes! And all the snowy white effects! Very nice
I love these little trees, but the whole of the look is fab! Just gorgeous and brings me back in time to such beauty!
Charming tablescape Yvonne as is your signature-design seen throughout your (beautiful) home. I love your uniqueness. Now relax with a cup of tea, Christmas music playing and enjoy your happy home!
Yvonne, your table is so gorgeous! I just love the way you have done everything! I always enjoy seeing your lovely pictures! You always do such a great job of everything! Bless you!
Beautiful and understated table setting. Just enough sparkle to make it gleam. I am a purist and would have polished the silver plate. Not a criticism, but my way of making a table my own. Smiles and thank you for sharing your joy with us all year long. Your posts are very special to me. I lived in different parts of Pennsylvania for forty years. I still miss it.
I love it, Yvonne! So sparkly and elegant. I am really in love with white on white with a mixture of shapes and textures. I think it would feel so special to be seated at your table.
I decorated my dining room today. My very dear friend gave me a pair of Waterford crystal candlesticks for christmas last year. I incorporated the candlesticks and a beautiful Waterford crystal vase fillrd with glass ornaments. Yvonne, you inspired me to add some mercury glass trees and finales in my tablescape. Thanks
Very inspiring. I particularly like planning the meals ahead so time with family and friends came be enjoyed by all.
I love your winter white table scape. It reminds me of my one and only White Christmas I spent with friends in Detroit. I’m from sunny Melbourne, Australia. Your ideas are calming, gorgeous and beautiful. I’ve done something similar for the last 2 years on a sideboard with my decorations which my young grandsons love as a change from the more “Christmasyy” other servings, tree and decorations which decorate my home every year as I celebrate with family and friends.
Love the table, Yvonne! I have a, perhaps, silly question, but can you tell me the “snow” is called and where I might find it? You may have already answered the question so I may have missed it!
Thanks!
Beautiful. I love all the types of Christmas Trees. So Pretty.
Love the mercury glass collection you have! Just stunning!
The table setting is gorgeous.
Ah….the serenity!
I too love using silver plate for everyday. Silver is antibiotic so it’s purposeful and beautiful. I love that it makes anyone who drops by feel “special”. I too, like you, have collected it at garage sales etc over the years; so there are lots of different patterns and no stress or dread if a piece goes missing by mistake ’cause there’s lots more where it came from. Also, I might be crazy, but hand washing it is a “gear-down” and a cheap form of therapy. 🙂
Your encouragement to use the pretty things is so helpful. Thanks!
Gorgeous tablescape.
Peaceful and lovely like a winter walk in the snow!
Lovely!
Beautiful table!!
I am starting my Christmas decorating today. Beautiful table! Thanks for the ideas!
The bottles brush tree are are so ingenius!!! Love the ideas, thank you.
Lovely. However, I can’t do just white and silver in the stark, harsh winter light – reads cold. But I I did take away the idea of one theme – you’re doing trees, I’m doing angels.
How stunningly beautiful!! So ethereal! You are so talented!
All of the beautiful whites are so peaceful but breathtaking!
Simply gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing this. Wonderful and exciting ideas.
Beautiful collection! You put all the pieces together so well. Would love to sit at the table.
I love the mercury glass and that wonderful bottle brush tree!
Thinking of using some of these ideas in my china cabinet as well.. Love your ideas.
Your tables cape is just beautiful. I love the mercury glass combined with the creamy bottle brush trees. It is such a ethereal peaceful but elegant look. Keep the wonderful ideas coming.
Your tables cape of mercury glass and creamy bottle brush trees is so refreshing. I have used similar items on my mantle adding golden iridescent stars and white lights. Keep up the beautiful suggestions.
Wish I was sitting at your beautiful table. I would feel so special.
I enjoy the fresh clean look of your tabletop design, lovely ideas.
Yvonne, your table is gorgeous!! I love all the mercury and silver flatware. I keep mine unpolished too, mostly because I have no time but I also LOVE it like that. Happy holidays to you and your family.
Big Hugs, Jamie
Absolutely gorgeous table setting. I got hooked on bottle brush trees last year and this gives me another way in which to use them. As always, love your ideas.
So elegant! Yet comfortable.
Your plates are beautiful!
Bless you for sharing!
I love your style. My theme this year is also trees, we have several trees that are similar. I did not copy I promise but I guess I have picked up on your decorations from following your blog. I’ve used a lot of mercury glass and silver
Hi I have been wondering what you are using for snow. I live so far alway from a big city to buy faux snow. Just was wondering if you had and idea. Thanks!
Beautiful!! I also did my table white this year!! I love the glow it gives the room!!
I found your blog via Pinterest, and I can’t stop reading it! Everything is so lovely, and your tutorials are fabulous! I particularly love this Christmas tablescape. I now know how my dining room table will be decorated next Christmas. Most of all, I love that you share your faith. God bless you and your family.
