Welcome To Stonegable

About Yvonne

Hi, I’m Yvonne. Founder and creator of StoneGable.

I’m so glad you’re here because StoneGable is more than a blog! It is a diverse community of women (and a few men) who love their homes and strive to make them comfortable, welcoming, and beautiful in their own ways.

Here are a few things about me: I am the wife of my wonderful husband Bobby, a mother to two amazing grown children, and a Gigi to six delightful grandchildren. And I am a blogger!

I live in beautiful bucolic Lancaster County Pa among rolling farmland, Amish communities, and colonial history pre-dating the Revolutionary War.

I have a passion for decorating! And our homes (all four of them) have been my school and laboratory! I don’t have a degree in Interior Design. Still, I’ve earned my decorating cred by reading almost any decorating book or magazine I can access and then practicing the design principles I learn from them in our home.

About Blogging

Blogging was a happy accident! When our daughter got married and was swept off to live in Washington DC, she would call me asking how I painted a piece of furniture, decorated a bookcase, or made her favorite recipes. I decided to start a blog, just for her! I would pour all my love into this blog with my best decorating advice and tips and with some recipes sprinkled in too.

Never in my wildest dreams did I think anyone else would find me! But they did! I discovered a whole huge, fabulous community of like-minded women who loved their homes and wanted to be better home decorators! It was like finding the Mothership! I thought, “These are my people”!

That was thirteen and a half years ago. So all the love I poured into my blog for my daughter I now pour into a blog for my wonderful readers!

Since then I have posted thousands of blog posts! Made countless new friends I’ve never met, learned a lifetime of new things, decorated every room in my home over a dozen times, and have been in magazines like American Farmhouse, Country Journal, and Lancaster Co. Magazine. As well as online features in The Pioneer Woman, Martha Stewart, Country Living, Victoria Magazine, Better Homes And Gardens, and more.

Blogging is my passion and I am dedicated to helping other women create homes they love in their own unique style. My decorating superpower is the ability to take interior design concepts and break them down into easy-to-understand, doable processes that anyone can use in their home over and over again.

Decorating School is a category on the blog where you will find tried and true decorating concepts that will help you. And the Decorating category is where you will find all kinds of decorating ideas and inspiration.

My Downsizing Story

We lived at our beloved StoneGable for 25 years and once our children grew up and left home Bobby and I decided that a smaller home would suit our new lifestyle! Here’s Our Downsizing Story.

So we moved to the Tanglewood House about 15 minutes away from StoneGable. We love our new home and have been working for the last three years to makeover each room in a style that suits our open-concept home.

You can find my Downsizing Series on StoneGable’s homepage. I created this series for anyone who is thinking of downsizing, has already downsized, or is in the process! So many StoneGable readers have generously told us their downsizing stories and offered helpful ideas and tips in these posts.

What To Expect When You Visit

My front door is open! I want you to feel welcomed and relaxed when you come to StoneGable. Think of visiting us like visiting an old friend!

I’m always happy to see you and hope you will stay awhile! Our home and my blog have a relaxed, welcoming style and I hope your time at StoneGable to be a bright spot in your day!
