VERTICAL CHEESE BOARD

VERTICAL CHEESE BOARD-a beautiful and delicous way to present this appetizer-stonegableblog.comOne of my go-to things to serve when we have company is a cheese board! Loaded with great cheeses, meats, veggies, fruit, olives and nuts. Guest love it and there is something for everyone! And the best part is… I don’t have to cook anything! A quick trip to the deli and produce sections of my grocer’s and I’ve got what I need. Today we’re doing things a little differently and instead of spreading our cheese board across the table, we are going vertical!!!

The secret to creating a vertical cheese board is to find two or three great pedestal cake plates. I got these beauties from DECOR STEALS!  To make sure the cake plates don’t slip around when your company serves themselves use adhesive putty to secure them together. Adhesive putty is removable and won’t hurt most non porous surfaces.

To fill the cheese board I chose:

  • one hard cheese: sharp cheddar
  • one soft cheese: Borsin
  • one “stinky” cheese: French Bleu
  • two favorites: havarti and manchego

The meats

  • hard salami
  • pepperoni
  • sporessata

And the fruits:

  • cherries
  • grapes
  • clementines
  • pomegranates

I also chose an olive mix and put it in two small bowls on the vertical cheese board and served a bowl of nuts on the side.

The cheese board was garnished with fresh rosemary and thyme. A large candle surrounded by cranberries decorate the top!

This cheese board does not take up much room and is a great conversation starter!!! Hope I have inspired you to make this easy and fun appetizer/snack when you have company!!!

I love the idea of saving table space by going up and not out. With family gatherings we always have lots of items to put out, and table space becomes premium “real estate”.
