MY FAVORITE BRUNCH TABLE
This week is MY CHRISTMAS FAVORITES week! I love to set a pretty table and this year is no different even though it’s been such a strange year. It is so important to continue to do things that bring us joy! Today’s tartan table is set for Christmas brunch, a StoneGable tradition!
Tartan has made a big comeback this Christmas!
It’s everywhere! And I am thrilled. I hopped on the tartan bandwagon right away!
Our Scottish heritage made tartan’s popular resurgence so welcomed here at StoneGable!
Today’s Christmas table is set for a simple and delicious brunch. Of course, my inspiration came from the tartan napkins boldly displayed at each place but there is also a good deal of woodland charm infused in this table too!
Take a seat and I’ll pour you something hot and delicious!
The tartan napkins are the star of this table!
The chargers are little footed log slices! And there are little faux evergreen wreaths in between the charger and white plates.
Just for fun I added small ball ornaments and a couple sprigs of greens in the glasses.
The centerpiece was so simple to make! I like to break up the dark wood and evergreens with something white.
The tables set and ready for Christmas morning! How are you setting your table this year? Please share!
Your bows are always perfect. My hands get in the way?
MERRY Christmas?
I’m with you Yvonne – thrilled to be seeing so much tartan this year! Your table looks lovely, as always. The chargers are wonderful and the addition of the greens make for a perfect setting.
Who can resist a plaid pattern! Combined with the greenery your table scape is stunning.
Tartan is all over our home. I will use your idea of ornaments and greenery in goblets for my table. Thank you!
I love plaid at Christmas. Enjoy your ideas
Lovely!
Love how pretty your tartan table looks.
Love it, love it. My dear sweet husband makes servers for me from trees that he has taken down on our property. All different sizes but so far none large enough to use as chargers. That will be on my list for this year.
Beautifu table setting – love the tartan plaid.
Thank you Yvonne. So very lovely. Would lijke to know about your silverware with the bees on it. I love them. Where can I purchase them. Holiday blessings to you and yours!
So beautiful! Thank you for sharing
This is the most beautiful tablescape for Christmas that I’ve seen this year! The tartan napkins are the star of the show! Love the sprigs of evergreen and the traditional red and white ornaments. This setting definitely screams Christmas!
Love the tartan touches….nice to have color back! Looks so festive!
Yvonne, I am a huge fan of tartan…and your table is lovely with the greenery and the simple, but stunning centerpiece!
I completely agree – this is a trend I can wholeheartedly embrace. Adding the rustic wooden chargers is a fabulous touch. I think I need to go play dishes.
I adore this table! And I love that tartan is the star! My husband and boys are so proud of their Scottish heritage, and I get to be proud by marriage. I love how you combined the woodland and white touches so that everything balances. May I ask where you found the wood slab chargers? They are perfect in this setting! Beautiful job!
Your table is beautiful. Plaid is always in fashion. I like a pastel plaid in spring. Merry Christmas.
Plaid, so perfect for Christmas! !!
The plaid, along with the greens, makes for a crisp, clean look on the table. What is the silverware pattern?
A beautiful idea!
Love, love, love it all! The festive table is perfect!
I’m using different tartans and red toile everywhere this year for Christmas! My kitchen table is currently set with red tartan chargers, Spode Archive Collection dinner plates, and Spode Christmas Tree salad plates and cups/saucers. I have so much fun this time of year that I tend to play and play again with my dishes.
I am SUCH a fan of tartans and love your tablescape! So pretty. I have a tiny bit of tartan in some ribbons I used on some of my milk glass lacy edges on my hutch and tea cart this year. And LOVE those wood slab chargers! Nice!
I, too, am loving the tartan trend. Beautiful table, those napkins are gorgeous!
Huge fan of tartan – the more patterns, the better! The ironstone center is a nice way to keep it light, as you said.
Love your ideas. Always a great way to start my day.
OK, I love it all, but I sure noticed the flatware with the bees on them. I LOVE THOSE! Who makes them? I want some. It’s just beautiful and makes me excited about Christmas morning!!!
Love the tartan…
I love Tartin!!!!! Although I don’t have White dishes, they are the Lenox Winter Greetings, tartin goes beautifully with the Tartin border!!!! so pretty
I love that red is back along with tartan plaid. I can actually go into my drawers and find a few things for my table. Your table looks beautiful and I also like the use of candy canes.
I found the bee flatware to anyone else that is interested. It’s available from Horchow and on SALE! It’s called Wallace Silversmiths Napoleon Bee pattern. Adorable, and will be precious all year long!
The tartan adds such a pop of color. It’s reds are vibrant and yet soft. The table setting is over the top! Love to sit at this table.
The table setting is so lovely and cheery. I haven’t as yet set a table quite so intricately. Did you buy the wood chargers or make them and also, what is the name of your silverware? So beautiful and inviting all together.
Oh, I just saw the answer to the silverware question. Thanks.
I love tartan plaid! The tablescape is beautiful!
Love the simplicity and yet so elegant.
Love the tartin! This is my favorite tablescape of all you have done. And the bee flatware is adorable!
So festive. I love the wood disks under the plates!

Tartan and Christmas just go together…gorgeous table!
Beautiful, Yvonne! Your table settings are always lovely with lots of eye candy!
I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, sweet friend!
I have always loved tartans, but have never used it in a tablescape. We visited Scotland and there are lots and lots of plaids! I bought 2 kilts, 2 blankets, husband’s tie and 2 scarves. I think I will use greenery and ornaments in my goblets.
I have a tartan tablecloth that I have used for years in my kitchen during the holidays. I love the way it makes the room look so cozy and festive at the same time.
Yvonne, this table is so beautiful. I’m using wool tartan as a cloth on our Christmas table for breakfast, thank you for the inspiration. Wishing you a gorgeous Wednesday! Xo Lidy
Really festive table!
You have given me great ideas!
The white dinnerware makes the table complete. I enjoy reading your blog, I always learn something new. Beautiful!!!
I absolutely love plaid! I have a plaid Christmas tablecloth and can’t wait to use it every year. I also use lots of plaid ribbon in my other decorating. To me it just says Christmas.

I love the plaid with fresh greens, and the wood slabs complete that beautiful tablesetting. Another beautiful post, your photography is the best.
Pat
Beautiful! Tartan is my absolute favorite for Christmas, and well, any time of the year! In fact, I am pining away for the gorgeous tartan dishes at Pottery Barn and Pier One, sigh!
Pretty plaid…Always Perfect!
Simply beautiful and so tasteful….I would like though to see the “whole table” in addition to all the pictures of each element.
Your photos are very artfully done..thank you.
I really like this very festive . Love the plaid
As family holiday needs have changed over the past couple of years, my husband and I have started a new tradition of dinner for two (just us!) in front of the fire. This year I decided on a more natural theme for decorating, so our dinner table reflects that with chunky wooden chargers (I think we have the same ones!), my Italian countryside dinnerware, and my new santa salad plates (purchased at Orchard Supply and Hardware (who knew?). I will use my evergreen and cream plaid napkins and copper silverware and a mix of red and clear cut crystal for the glassware. I have a couple of centerpiece options available – I think I will just wait and see which one grabs me. Thank you for always being an inspiration!
Yvonne,
Wow, I just love your bold style! There are so many lovely elements on this table but it’s the way it all comes together that really makes an impact. The wreaths under the plates are fabulous!! Love the bark servers used as chargers, too.
Have a Merry Christmas!
Lory
What a visual treat! Plaids paisley are my favorite classic designs. Thanks for all your wonderful posts. Merry Christmas!
Yvonne,
Something about tartan plaids just makes your holiday home shine! Thanks so much for your tireless efforts to inspire and wow us!

Love all of your great ideas!
I am a “mad for plaid” girl! I love it anytime of year, but I think the tartan at Christmas is perfect.
Love your table.
I love using the natural greens and berries from my yard for Christmas.
I am looking forward to putting Christmas decorations together. Thanks Yvonne
for all the ideas.
So festive, joyful and inviting! Enjoy.
Gorgeous!! How do you come up with so many ideas? Love the splashes of tartan!! I also adore your flatware. I think we would shop well together hehehe!!
Just the right combination of the tartan plaid with the red bulbs, greenery and white. Beautiful!
Amazing! Just last week a friend called borrow my set of blue tartan linens (Dress Gordon) for a Hanukkah party! I have a stash of red tartan napkins that I always on Boxing Day. And my son is always itching to borrow our chainsaw–think I see wood chargers in my future!
I purchased the Haddington plaid plates at Pier 1 this year and totally LOVE my Christmas tablescape! I had red napkins monogrammed with a white initial, and have used lots of greenery in my old dough bowl with some beaded old Christmas ornaments that were my mothers. I just love this plaid!! I hope it stays in style – anyway, it will be in style at my house!!
Absolutely love, love, love the target tartan look. I added a lovely tartan throw on the sofa. It automatically adds coziness and warmth to the season.
Yvonne: Tartan is classically playful and joyous-as are you!
I love the red plaid also. Your table looks so pretty.
Love the Woodsy look !!
Lovely Christmas Table!! Blessings to you and your family.
It’s such a delight to see you’re a Scottish descendant too. I’m 3/4 Scottish if not a little more and my clan colors are blue, green and black. I love your website the most of any blog that I follow and especially on Sunday. You always have wonderful things on your blog to see and try.
Yvonne, I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your decorating!! Everything you do looks gorgeous!
So much fun! The tartan napkins, the wood chargers, the centrepiece and the little balls in wine glasses all make for a fun & festive table. Perfect for Christmas morning.
Your cutlery has little bees on it. So vey French! Can I ask the make and where you purchased them?
What could be better for your Christmas table setting than the beautiful traditional colors of this tartan plaid? Gorgeous!
I just bought some tartan chargers from Williams-Sonoma. This post gives me some ideas!!
I love, love tartan and I’ve passed it on to my daughter.
Sooo pretty!!!
Lovely table! Who would have thought of an ole bowl filled with evergreens and ornaments as a centerpiece? And I love the ornaments and sprigs in the wine glass! Sooooo clever! That’s really thinking out of the box! So who would have thought of these great ideas? Only you! Thanks again for inspiring us to think of things we normally wouldn’t!
I have always loved plaid and it does look so festive in the red and green.
Being of Scottish heritage also, I’ve always loved using tartan at Christmas. Your table looks so pretty!
I just love the greens and cones! I’ve done some modified versions of your decor at my Wee Abode this year! I just finished doing my mason jar tea lights! So fun and pretty! Thanks, Yvonne, for sharing with us.
I love this silver with the bumble bee !!
Like the plaid napkins. Did you sew them?
Purchased? Share your source, please.
Clever candy cane and ribbon on the fork.
I would enjoy a visit to your table any time!
PS did you share a bouquet with oranges and greens in à tall vase?
Where can I find it on your blog? Much appreciated.
Hi Nan! I got the tartan napkins from HomeGoods. I don’t remember oranges and greens in a tall vase. Sorry!
Beautiful tablescape! Love the tartan and the silverware, too!
Girgeous, as always! I love to tablescape. However, I have to wonder wonder about some of the things that are used on the table. Are they simply removed when it is time to serve? Such as the goblets…do you just empty before serving? If fell as though I am a bit conservative as I’m not sure of the whole process!
Yes, Carolyn. They are emptied into a little bowl and given a quick rinse. But this tablescape will sit on my table for over 2 weeks before I use it. Hope this helps.
This is beautiful. I’m very drawn to tartan plaids too, being raised in a family with Celtic roots and married to one also. Not to mention that my all time favorite books are Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander series! Wider if I can find some plaid napkins before the big dinner next weekend.
Tartan plaids have been the staple in my Christmas decor so long they have been labeled “dated” several times…NEVER. Lol!
Love love love your beautiful table! Everything about it is so inviting! Would love to sit at any of your beautiful tables! Your so inspiring,Merry Christmas to you and your family and enjoy your new grandchild!

Beautiful as always and so unique! I’m stealing your idea with the candycane tied to the fork, how pretty is that?!
I have no Scottish heritage that i know off but am loving the plaid look too this year . I’ve re-purposed a red and black plaid wool skirt as my christmas tree skirt this year, shhh it’s our little secret 🙂
So glad the plaid is back! So Christmas! Thanks for sharing your beautiful table!
Oh my goodness! What is there not to like about this table? I love it all. The white dishes, the tartan, the silverware with the bees on it, the candy cane tied on the forks, the wood chargers, the pine cones on the plates, I don’t think I could pick a favorite if I had to.
Simply beautiful…..
Really love the plaid. Is it a Christmas plaid, personal plaid or just pretty? I wonder how a green plaid would compare?
I have the red tartan sheets, pillows and ribbons. Off to a great start. Love your blog and great ideas. Thank you!
I am lovin’ the comeback of plaid too. Beautiful tablescape Yvonne!
What a lovely tablescape. I would like to find a blue tartan to go with my blue Christmas decor….but thanks for the inspiration again!
Yvonne, your breakfast tablescape looks so festive but I, for one, would not drink from the goblets right after the pine foliage and ornaments have been shaken out.
It’s fabulous, Yvonne. I’ve always been a Tartan plaid fan. I’m actually decorating a bit this year with black, white and gray plaid, with accents of brilliant red.
Oh, with lots of Celtic fiddling and historic instrumental music playing in the background. With me?
Plaid is so classy, so timeless. RICH.
And you,my friend, have rocked it off the charts.
Merry Christmas to you.
O pretty… everything about your table is perfectly Christmas! I love all the little details.
Merry Christmas…
Sherri

iIlove your beautiful table scape in the tartan plaid. I started using the plaid a couple of years ago and I still love it. I found some red plaid wraping paper at Walmart and lined the back of my bookcases next to the fireplace. It looks so homey and comfortable.. i love your blog, thanks so much for sharing.
Sounds fabulous, Karen!
So fun and beautiful. Tartan is so friendly and inviting. As a child I remember my mom wearing a green and red tartan taffeta skirt for entertaining. I love it and have it on my table.
Yvonne, I am so sorry you are dealing with a broken ankle and major surgery. It is never easy to be as limited as you are right now, not to mention the pain, but at Christmas time especially it must be particularly challenging. Your attitude speaks of God’s presence in your life. Thank you for your testimony of faith as well as the examples of beauty and creativity you share. Merry Christmas!
Cheryl

Nelda, So happy to hear that!
I love the colors you used on your Tartan table setting. The wood grain of your table is so pretty.
I adore tartan as well! Your napkins are so pretty. I noticed they have more white than most patterns which I like because they look perfect with your white dishes. The centerpiece is wonderful and simple colorful and ohhhh, the fragrance around your table!!! Sigh….
Twenty-four years ago I brought a group of women together for an early December brunch – a kick-off for the holidays. The only thing they had in common was me. Through the years I’ve tried many recipes and this year I made your Christmas Breakfast Casserole. Yes it was a hit! And I loved making it the night before! Well done and thank you! Your blog has been my go-to for fun holiday decor too – thank you again!
Love those bauble filled glasses! — think I’ll be doing that but maybe also add a wee tartan bow on the stem–
Glad I saved my tartan from my 1980’s decor! Plaid is my favorite color.
Yes, Lee! Plaid is back in a big way!
I absolutely LOVE tartan at Christmas; one of my favorite themes. I’m taken with the use of a simple, thick, pillar candle in the bowl, with just the right greenery and ornaments. Just beautiful; fabulous idea! I’ll tuck that away for next year. Again, love the photography, and you decor is always lovely. 🙂
This table with plaid is my fav. I have white dishes, just need to find napkin

I’m pinning this for sure, and using it, too!
