A STARRY CHRISTMAS TOUR
When the nights get shorter and shorter and the stars get brighter in the frosty night sky I know Christmas is getting close! And that means decorating! Lots of bowls of greens and pinecones and little trees and stars. I’m filling my home with stars… big and small! And tiny white lights play a big part in this years decorating too. They give StoneGable a magical feel. Why am I telling you this when you can see it for yourself?
Today is HOME STYLE SATURDAY!
This week I’m digging into my archives and pulling out last year’s Christmas home tour! Hope it inspires you in your Christmas decorating this year!
Today I’ll be showing your my downstairs. Stop back next week to see a detailed Christmas kitchen tour, a Christmas outdoor tour, a Christmas bedroom tour and a very special Christmas Tablescape!
Let’s start in the…
FAMILY ROOM
The family room is is relaxed and lived in! This Christmas I’m decorating most of the house in with a more traditional vibe than in years past. I have missed that classic look! It’s sorta nostalgic with lots of reds, greens, gold and a bit of dramatic black! Instead of dumping the sleigh of decorations in my home I’m fitting them into the decor I already have! My family room is a good example of my Christmas philosophy this year!
BREAKFAST ROOM
The breakfast room aka the eating area is gently decorated in greens and whites and black… my very favorite color combo. I kept the table clean and less cluttered because the open shelves across from it is all decked out and bespeckled with stars! Stop back tomorrow to see how to make the table centerpiece in about 10 minutes!
THE KITCHEN
I always say that my kitchen is the workhorse of my home and for that reason I keep my decorations minimal. I love love love lemon cyprus trees. I’m using them all over the house this year. They make a grand statement on the island!
THE DINING ROOM
This grand sleigh steal the show in the dining room! He is filled with greens and ornaments and stars… lots of stars! A milky white nativity finds its home in my dining room this year.
This is the “tree” room this year! This room has a happy, classic mood! It’s where we will spend Christmas day reading the Christmas story, opening presents and being with family! I can’t wait!
I hope you have enjoyed the tour and have been inspired! And I hope your home is filled with gifts you cannot buy this Christmas… love, peace and joy!

Just Gorgeous! Makes me want to decorate for Christmas – now! Thank you for your lovely creative work!
Your beautiful home has just put me in the Christmas spirit! Can you tell me where you got your lemon cypress trees? Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home!
Hi Maryann, I found the Cyprus trees at our local Lowe’s. I’ve seen them there for the last several years!
Your home decorated for Christmas is simply beautiful. I am even more excited to decorate after seeing your magic!
Thanks, Cindy!
As usual beautiful and inspiring. I can’t wait to start decorating
Absolutely beautiful, Yvonne! I’ll start decorating a week from today, and I can hardly wait! Last year I fell in love with your large reindeer sleigh on the dining room table. I was very fortunate to find one online after diligently searching for days and days. Would you believe I found it from a photography prop store? They had a tiny baby wrapped in a blanket inside the sleigh, it was precious! I am just glad I found it because I knew you purchased it at a local shop near you. This year I plan to put it right smack in the middle of my dining room table and decorate it very similar to the way you did. I also love the color combination you do, black, white, and green. I love to use lots of greenery around the house, even though it’s faux I add “fluff” and picks and pine cones to make it look better. Thank you for all of the inspiration you give us! Every. Single. Day.
Karen, you are so so welcome!!!! And thank YOUfor being such a faithful part of our StoneGable community!
Yvonne, thank you for the beautiful tour…stunning details! Happy weekend, Pam @ Everyday Living

lots of greens to add Christmas.Love all the stars,I’m
a star girl too, have them all over my house.
I love that you carried out your star theme with so many natural elements. Looking forward to seeing this year’s home tour.
Very pretty! However, I just can’t decorate until after Thanksgiving and usually not until 12/1. This year we will ask our son-in-law and grandson to carry in our 9′ tree on Thanksgiving as it is getting too heavy for us to lift so looks like I will get an early start! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
As always, your home is perfect. I love every bit of it.
Good Evening Yvonne, Your home is beautiful, with so much to admire in each of the rooms you have shared. You have a wonderful eye for detail.
I love to decorate my home with green and red during Christmas time, also with lots of twinkly lights as it makes each room seem magical.
Thank you for the Christmas tour, I thoroughly enjoyed myself.
Best Wishes
Daphne

So beautiful and classic, Yvonne.
Everything is beautiful! I love the color combo with the stars! Please tell us what the white flaky stuff you used around the nativity and other places.
HI April I got that snow at a local shop and they don’t carry it anymore. Thank goodness I scooped it all up and saved it. So sorry I can’t tell you more!
I love your style, Yvonne, and your LR looks beautiful in the traditional colors of Christmas, as well as the kitchen’s & family room’s more understated natural browns & greens with pops of black and white, red. Well done!
I love your Christmas wreath that is over your mantle. So beautiful. I also love your french doors.
Beautiful.
Marilyn
Yvonne, this is just beautiful! I love the way you’ve used traditional touches to work seamlessly throughout your home!! So inspiring!
I like the little green trees in the kitchen. They really set off the black and white color scheme you are using.
Love it…….
I am so inspired by the pillows! I have sweaters I no longer wear, but can’t bear to part with. I am thinking of making a green knit sweater with faux fur trim. Christmassy, but able to keep out the whole winter season too. Thanks!
I love the star theme as well, but I think I’m going to do white and silver stars for a little sparkle.
Ooooh, pretty!
So pretty…love classic Christmas! Oh what I would do to visit your lovely home.
Looking forward to many more wonderful posts as we wrap up 2016!
Can’t imagine what you have in store for all of us in 2017:)

Just beautiful, Yvonne! Love the greenery against the black and white of your kitchen, and the car pillow with the black and white one is perfection. Everything looks so warm and inviting. Wishing you and yours wonderful holidays.
I’m really curious; how do you have what I’m guessing is platters attached to your shutters on the mantel? That’s such a cute idea to spell out Merry Christmas on them.
I love that white tree – elegant, classic and gorgeous! Also got an idea perking in my head now using my glass cream bottles. Thanks for the great ideas, Yvonne!
Inspiring!
Did you make the star garlands? If so, how about a brief tutorial? I think they are lovely and so delicate.
Here’s the tutorial: https://www.stonegableblog.com/star-garland-diy/
Yvonne, your house looks so beautiful and festive! I especially like the strings of silver stars everywhere. Where did you find them? Or did you make them? I use only silver and white on my Christmas tree. To me it is so calming versus the business of all the reds, greens, and golds. This year, however, I will probably have a more traditional tree for my twin grandsons who are living with me. We’ll do the colorful ornaments that they like on their tree.
Thanks for sharing your home. It’s so fun to see how you do holidays!
I love the black and white fabric idea. I’ve been inspired to do similar by adding the black check with my red. It’s going to look wonderful. I love Christmas. Thanks for the inspiration.
Oh what fun it is to ride over to your blog to get a sleigh full of ideas! I love all the pinecones.
