Spring in my area is such a beautiful season… and such a short lived one too! So, I’m make the most of this blooming, bursting, chirping, egg-cracking, nesting, green, warm, breezy time of the year. Let’s open up the windows and let that gorgeous and welcomed fresh air in. It’s time to tuck a few pretty signs of the season in our homes and celebrate! I like to keep spring decor simple and sweet! Today I’m sharing part of my downstairs cleaned, spiffed up and ready for spring… C’mon in, I’ve been waiting for you!

SPRING HOME TOUR 2016 HOSTED BY COUNTRY LIVING MAGAZINE

Please get cozy I have lots of pictures today… lots and lots of pictures!

Today is FARMHOUSE FRIDAY! The farmhouse girls are so thrilled to be participating in a HOME TOUR hosted by COUNTRY LIVING MAGAZINE! What a thrill to be working with Country Living!

Please stop by all the pretty Spring Tours at the end of this post.

SPRING HOME TOUR 2016 HOSTED BY COUNTRY LIVING MAGAZINE

Let’s start at the front of StoneGable! Welcome to the living room.

My living room is more classic than farmhouse in it’s design and style. StoneGable is a modern America farmhouse. I like to think of my style as refined country living! But it is country living non the less. And our farmhouse inspired home certainly influences the way I decorate!

Light pours into the window and french door. I often find the living room hard to photograph. This is the lightest and brightest room in my home.

You will find me in the living room reading or entertaining.

The living room will be going through some small changes between now and early summer. Make sure to stop back to see what we will be working on!

Here’s a view that you probably have not seen before. It gives you a little perspective of how StoneGable is laid out. I’m standing in front of and to the left of the Curlacue chest in the living room.

Let’s walk through the foyer to the dining room.

SPRING HOME TOUR 2016 HOSTED BY COUNTRY LIVING MAGAZINE

Our dining room was the first room we tackled in our on going total house makeover. We literally gut every room from floor to ceiling as we update them. We are now working on our main hall bathroom. Bobby actually did all the plumbing. But I digress…

Since we finished the dining room makeover about 4 years ago the dining room is still evolving! Are we ever really done decorating? This room has a formal rustic luxe feel that I’m so comfortable with. Over half the the elements in this room are diy projects.

This spring, the concrete table is embellished with hammered silver and glass hurricanes that are filled with softly colored eggs and twiggy branches filled with white cherry blossoms.

Flanking the hurricanes are mercury glass candlesticks. I am a huge fan of mercury glass!

Let’s head to the family room. The back half of StoneGable is a lot less formal and more relaxed than the front. But the same colors in the living room and dining room are carried through to the kitchen, breakfast room and family room.

Here’s where my love of farmhouse style can shine. I love slipcovers, galvanized metal, chippy paint, lots of white dishes and fun farmhouse accents!

The family room is the darkest room in my home. At some point we going to knock out the two windows in the family room and have double french doors installed or a great windows with transoms all around. Until then it’s cozy!

For the image below, I stood by one of the white slipcovered chairs. As you can see the back of my home, like the front, is very open.

Let’s head the the little area sandwiched between the family room and the kitchen. The “breakfast room” is really a small, open area. It may be small but it holds a lot of people for meals! The round table has two leaves.

  43. Your home is so beautiful and cozy , it looks so comfy. Beautiful, congrats on crow th ling magazine.

  44. You have a beautiful home. Happy Easter..

  45. Do you think the paint color Sonnet would be ok with dark walnut stained wood trim ? Also just a suggestion would be to install solatubes in your dark family room to bring in natural light unless there is a second story above it. Loved seeing your home from all the angles. Beautiful.

    1. Hi Nanci, thanks for the great suggestion! I think Sonnet would work well with dark stained walnut. Head to your Benjamin Moore store and get a sample sheet of Sonnet and see how it looks in your home.

  46. Cindy Blevins says:

What a beautiful and not over-the-top flow (it is so serene!) from room to room. You are gifted by God and I appreciate that you share it with us. Blogs are not easy to do and I can only imagine the hours of work you put into this career. I love the way you infuse your faith into your decorating too.

I too love the repurposing and diy philosophy. We can all get nutty and our “things” start to dominate but you continue to exhibit that taking time to declutter and rearrange can truly make our home a refuge. Thanks Yvonne!

    1. Cindy Blevins says:

PS I know it is a passion and a calling but also appreciate the time it takes, thus the word “career”! 🙂

  47. Karen VanLoo says:

LOVE the tour, Yvonne! Your home is so lovely.

  48. Shelley Anderson says:

Gorgeous Yvonne! I love your style and look forward to each day with you. Happy Easter to you and your family !

  49. Tina Dodson says:

Than you for having me in your lovely home! I had to sit,and sip my coffee, and I felt like I was in heaven,,Oh Yvonne, you continue to inspire me each day,,Some days I have to take notes,,and yes,,go back to the dining room,or even take a walk to the kitchen,,I love everything, but I notice a new happening everytime! I love the 3 tier on your kitchen table, now that is darling!! I want that,,I love the coffee sign in your kitchen, I’d love to have that, too,,I know how sharing you are,,HA! I noticed this time how you arrange your pillows, like stuffing them inside each other, now that is so inviting, now can you see why I have to sit!!

I also appreciate all your hard work,it takes a lot of time to arrange things and make a home beautiful, and Yvonne you have done an amazing job!!

    Love,
    Tina

  50. Becky Johns says:

I have so enjoyed watching you put together your lovely home over the last two or three years I have followed your blog. Your taste is unique and inspiring to us. Please know we appreciate the work you have gone to to create a clean and welcoming home, not for a coffee table book but for a real family to live in and enjoy. As I look around my kitchen and family room I see touches that you have inspired.

I appreciate the simplicity and comfort you have woven into your decorating style. I like seeing favorite objects used over and over in a new arrangement. That is real life.

This year I am pulling out my mercury glass which I have only used at Halloween and Christmas….this year it will be Spring, and I can’t wait to make the blue eggs to go with the nests you taught us to make. This is your genius, a fresh look with favorite things and a dash of something new!

  51. Thank you so much for the beautiful tour! I can only imagine the amount of work involved from taking the photographs to getting everything assembled on the computer!! You have so many admirers so may not remember me saying how very similar our tastes are. Well, I got a chuckle seeing that gorgeous (looks to be blue) chipped bowl holding blossoms on your living room coffee table because I just filled almost the same bowl (except a cream/beige color) with fresh ivy and put it on my kitchen table. That one new item really caught my attention because there’s nothing else on that table! I love that more “bare” look for a change and just had to comment on that, not because I have almost the same bowl but the fact that you removed everything else and as a result, the container and blossoms really shine! (Hope you know what I mean!). You usually have some interesting vignette there but this is a nice fresh change. I loved every single thing in your main level tour. Wishing you and your family good health and a lovely Easter weekend, Yvonne!

PS: I can’t wait for the Upstairs Tour!! 🙂

  52. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home. You truly are such an inspiration, Yvonne.

  53. krishnadecores says:

I just wanted to thank you for this valuable information. It gave me the confidence I needed to know that starting a blog was actually feasible and the information to actually go through with it

  54. Yvonne it’s all so very beautiful! I love everything! I’d love to come over and just wander through soaking in all the beauty!

  55. Oh Yvonne….Not sure how I missed this tour!…Your home is truly magnificent and charming!….Such a treat to see most of the house in one single post!..Happy Spring Yvonne!

  56. Love your style. Can you please share what material your countertops are and the color. They are gorgeous.
Thank you so much for all your inspiration.
    As ever,
    Summer Country Charm and Decor

  57. AWESOME! Your home is absolutely fabulous, you’ve got the eye for sure. Love your house – well done, Yvonne, it’s inspirational and perfect! Thank you for the wonderful tour! : – )

  58. Thank you for sharing your home tour. Your home is so warm and inviting. Love the pops of black and old treasures!

  59. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with everyone. I love the light fixture in your kitchen over your island. Does it give off enough light and may I ask where you found it?
    Thanks. Have a great day.

    1. Hi Debbie, Thanks for your sweet comment. I found the light fixture above the island at Lowe’s. Hope this helps.

  60. As a new visitor to your home,I’d like to know where/why your house is called Stonegable?

  61. Christi Maze says:

Your home is just gorgeous! Thank you for sharing your inspiration with us. I also really love your Sunday posts, they are so relevant, thought provoking and uplifting when I cant be in my home church.

  62. Yvonne, your home is complete and beautiful. I love the mirror in the living room in place of the wings, just made your living room more beautiful. The back of your home, the kitchen and gathering room is just breath taking, you have an eye for decorating and I love that everything is so in place and clean. Thank you so very very much for putting the time into sharing your home and making my day a little brighter. God Bless

  63. Your Home is such a feast for the eyes. This is the first time I’ve noticed the zebra rug. Is there a story with that? How or where did you acquire it? I would love to own one and am tempted by some of the DIYs.

  64. Karen Vargo says:

Your home is breathtaking…I love everything in it !

  65. Awesome Yvonne! I love how all of the colors are monochromatic throughout! It really looks classy and it is my favorite decorating look! You have the best taste!

  66. BOBBI DUNCAN says:

YVONNE, YOU DID A WONDERFUL JOB OF UNIFYING ALL THE ROOMS–SO SERENE AND LOVELY. SUCH FUN TO SEE ALL THE ROOMS TOGETHER, TOO. WISHING YOU A LOVELY SPRING, AND SO GLAD THE HIGH WINDS WE HAD LAST NIGHT DIDN’T BLOW AWAY ALL OUR LOVELY BLOOMS.

  67. Fran Braun says:

The wind is howling this morning and your reminder that Spring is on the way cheers my Sunday!

    Thank you!

  68. What is the paint color on your walls?

  69. Norma Osborne says:

Most of my decor came from travels to “strange places with strange sounding names” , but in the end it seems to blend. You have inspired me to add a few new touched-mostly pillows and throws. Your recipes are awesome too-especially your chicken thigh recipes.
I visit your site daily. Thanks for your site.

  70. Norma Osborne says:

I think you are very talented, and I have used several of your ideas and recipes, but for me I think you need a pop of color.
    To each his own!

  71. Beth Schultz says:

I love your kitchen table. I am remodeling my kitchen this spring and would like to purchase a table similiar. Can you please tell em where you purchased it?

    1. Hi Beth, We had this table custom made and the craftsman is no longer in business. Sorry!

peut etre que c’est une erreur 🙂 soyez benis

  73. HI yvonne Love your home .Love the black and white it”s so bright and airy .just love coming by Thank”s for sharing .

  74. Beeee.u.teeee.full!!!!! I love.love.love all of the pictures. I’m especially intrigued by one in the living room. I’d love to see a shot of the wall across from the one with the large mirror on it. There are three wooden frames with something in the middle of them. I’d like to see a close up of what they are. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration.

    1. Will do! I’ll try to remember the next time I’m taking pictures in my living room!

  75. I love your home tour! Everything is always neat and clean, classy and beautiful! I share your love for pillows, but cannot always find them with zippers to remove them from their form. I have a question: when people sit on your sofa, do the pillows get taken off?

    1. Hi Linda, When I know I’m having company I take off a couple pillows and throw them in a big basket I keep in each room just for that use. Some people like to sit with a pillow behind their back or under their arm. Or they might throw a pillow on the floor. It’s okay!

  76. I hope you’re going to show how the apron hanger with plates is constructed. It’s adorable!

  77. Paso Sandy says:

Beautiful attention to detail, and exquisite taste! I have a question, you and I love throw pillows, however, they always seem to get in the way with company. Any suggestions on how to artfully ditch the pillows without throwing them on the floor?

    1. Hi Paso, I keep a big basket in each room for pillows to be thrown in! Hope this helps.

  78. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful home, Yvonne. I love your style…classic, homey and stylish! I recently updated my pillow covers with the same Black/White check (Ballards). I only do pillow covers as I don’t have room to store lots of pillows. You are so talented!

  79. Ellie LaJuett says:

    Absolutely stunning!

  80. Your house is so pretty, I just love it. I had to chuckle at Jo Anne’s post because I was going to ask the same question. Because of your inspiration I have let creativity back in my life. , For Spring on my table top I have two french script napkins the center, before the holiday’s I was able to purchase a silver ice bowl from Home Goods , I purchased some magnolia flowers , from Magnolia Farm on sale, yeah!!! I have the magnolia flowers in the bowl , Then on either side are two little blue and white creamers with small cotton stems in them You are such a Blessing to me. ThankYou
    Be Blessed

  81. Yvonne I just love your home I think it is so peaceful and so classic and so elegant. You have done an amazing job. I don’t know what you could do different for the summer butt it looks perfect just as it is. Just love love love it

  82. I just found your sight while perusing Pinterest. Eye Candy! LOVE your style! You have inspired me to rethink some decorating pieces stuck away in the attic.

Question: the picture of the row houses on the wall above the 3-drawer chest. Where did you find it?

      1. Thank you so much for the link!!

  83. juliana agoritsas says:

Just beautiful Yvonne….can you tell me where you got the Sign in your dining area I am the child of a King????

  84. What a beautiful home. I always am envious of homes with so much white, especially couches and chairs done in white. I would love them nut fear they would never look good after a short time. I also love your hooks for your aprons. I have so many staffordhsire plates that I could use. Can you tell me where you found those hooks that also hold the plates?

    1. Hi Terry, the hook plate came as one. Directions will be in my upcoming book!

      1. Thanks. I’m sure you will be letting us all know when your book comes our.

  85. Beautiful inspiration!! Thanks for sharing your talent. I love decorating as well. I would to know the name of the print of the row houses if you have it so, I could try to fin it or something similar.

  86. Debbie Holsworth says:

I so love your decorating style. I have copied many of your ideas in my own home. May God continue to bless you.could your big secret be a new grandbaby? I pray so. Debbie

    1. Hi Debbie, It’s no secret that we are expecting our second grandchild… a baby girl… in June! I am so excited. I’m sure I’ll be sharing a tutu post and how to make hairbows!

  87. Perfection all the way. Loved the apron hanger and aprons!

  88. Love the pics…there is inspiration in each photo. I love the use of the white flowers.
