Today I’m teaming up with a few of my blogging buddies to bring you…
SHADES OF SPRING OPEN HOUSE PARTY!
Isn’t that a great line up? LOVE LOVE LOVE these girls and their home decor blogs!
Let’s get inspired and decorate our homes for spring!!!! Please stop by the blogs at the end of this post!
But for now, let’s look at 5 great ways we an decorate for spring in farmhouse style!
1. WHITE SLIPCOVERS
Okay, this might be a bit of an investment, but white or light slipcovers will make a HUGE change to a room! And they will give your room a big farmhouse punch! Spring is the time to lighten up our homes and a great, rugged white slip cover will do the trick!!!
You can slipcover a sofa or chair for so much less than buying a new one!
*SG Update: many of you have asked here and by email for info about my slipcoverer. The sofa above is a Pottery Barn slipcovered sofa. I got the new “performance” fabric and it is wearing like iron!!! Our other slipcovered sofa was done by a local women and she did a fabulous job. I would suggest that if you interested in a slipcover you would find someone local who would come to your home to fit the fabric on your sofa. Hope this helps!
2. CHIPPY WINDOWS AND FUN BANNERS
Need a little time worn look in your current decor. No, I’m not talking about tired decor… let’s get chippy ! Old windows are not only a bargain and easy to find but make beautiful and simple art! For a great spring look add a fun burlap banner to the window and a few blooming branches. These windows are also a great place to tack up spring botanical pictures or farm inspired images!
3. SILVER MIXED WITH WHITE DISHES
Oh, I love shiny or tarnished silver with white dishes. Add a little fluff, a little nest and some tiny eggs and you have a gorgeous spring vignette. Farmhouse does not always mean unsophisticated or uber rustic! It’s all in the balance! A little bling and a whole lot of ironstone! Farmhouse perfection!
4. SPRING FLOWERS IN WHITE PITCHERS
Oh, how beautiful a big bunch of spring flowers looks when they are spilling over a white pitcher! And they don’t have to be real flowers! I’ll never tell and your faux flowers probably won’t either!
Here is an easy way to bring a little spring farmhouse decor into ever room!
Sometimes I think pitchers were really the first vases! At least they were in a farmhouse! And spring flowers in pitchers define that casual, warm farmhouse feel we all love!
Wether you buy or bring in a bunch of blooms from your garden make sure they land in a white pitcher!
5. GREAT OLD CRATES
If you acquire one old crate… you will be hooked! I love their character and texture and charm. They exude farmhouse style!!! Use them as an easy storage solution or to display seasonal element in.
I used this old 7 up crate to hold my herbs in until the danger of frost is passed and they can be planted outside in the kitchen herb garden.
There are so many great farmhouse ideas that you can incorporate into your spring decor! I hope I have inspired you to try one or two or five! Give your home a little farmhouse charm this spring!
