ON THE MENU WEEK OF JULY 2ND

ON THE MENU- WEEK OF JULY 2ND- I have a week's worth of scrumptious recipes planned for you!

July, here at StoneGable, is lazy and hazy and hot! Who wants to spend hours in the kitchen when easy, light meals are really what we want. We eat seasonally around here. From the garden and farm stands to our table. I could live on corn and tomatoes from July through early fall! But the rest of my family might have something to say about that! So here’s what’s on the menu this week.

SUNDAY

Asian flavors are one of my favorites! YUM! Today I’m making an easy noodle salad and some scrumptious beef on skewers… all with those wonderful Asian flavors!

MONDAY

The soup recipe is an oldie but goodie. I got these fabulous recipes on a trip to Bar Harbor. Jordan Pond was one of our favorite hikes on that vacation and we ended it with a fabulous al fresco lunch of Lobster Bisque and scrumptious popovers!

Give these popovers a try. They are the original Jordan Pond recipe!  They are a huge crowd pleaser!

TUESDAY- HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Today is a time to celebrating our country and get together with those we love! It’s all about a big picnic here at StoneGable. I’m making some of our summer favorites!

WEDNESDAY

I’ll be introducing all of you to a new “foodie” podcast hosted by me and my chef sister Lisa. It’s called Scrumptious and we talk about amazing food, technique, and great recipes! This is a podcast for the home cook. We tell stories, laugh and learn together!  We have been taping and having a blast!!!!  Be looking for its debut the beginning of August!

THURSDAY

I have the perfect, easy and yummy meal to feed a crowd. French Bread Pizza is a great and filling meal and can be made ahead and baked when ready! We are having a few friends over for a rousing game of Dominos so a quick meal, great drinks, and Mexican Flan go perfectly with Mexican Train Dominos!

FRIDAY

I love trout and grilling it makes it even better! I don’t cook it whole, I have a problem with my food looking back at me. So I have it cleaned and dressed and ready to be seasoned, stuffed and put on the grill! If you have not had grilled trout you should give it a try.

SATURDAY

We love to grill and are such carnivores! Beef is my personal favorite! Flank steak is one delicious and easy to make summer main dish! If you don’t grill flank steak you really should. It’s that good!

TREAT OF THE WEEK…

PUFF PASTRY CHOCOLATINES

These scrumptious little pillow filled chocolates are just perfect or a little dessert after a meal! So company worthy!
