ON THE MENU WEEK OF FEB 12

ON THE MENU-week of Feb 12- A week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

This Tuesday is Valentine’s Day. Just remember to be super sweet to your sweetheart! As you will read I’m not a fan of going out to dinner on Valentine’s day, and really I’m not so much into the hearts and roses thing. I much prefer jewelry or furniture… no just kidding (or am I?). I love events. Don’t tell Bobby but we are going to a The Philadelphia Art Museum and then to dinner in Philly. We love museums! Fun and memory making! What are you doing with your honey or friends? And Happy birthday brother Alan! xo

FEBRUARY 2017

Let’s have a yummy week!

SUNDAY

We finally got our first big-ish snow! It’s cold and windy and the snow is swirling around the farm fields! It makes me so happy! I love snow and it makes me want to cook warm and cozy meals!

Adding pumpkin to a recipe give it a warm and oh so scrumptious flavor! I keep a couple cans of pureed pumpkin in my pantry for meals like this… and pumpkin protein shakes!

ON THE MENU FEB 12- Here's a week's worth of scrumptious recipes!

MONDAY

Make sure you listen to episode 7 of Decorating Tips And Tricks HERE. We are talking about how blogging has influenced our decor style! Some behind the scene stories too!

I try to eat fish once or twice a week. And I love finding easy to make recipes. One of my very very favorite fish recipes is fish piccata. YUM! Lots of lemon and capers and mouth watering flavors! I found such a great blog called Recipe Tin, filled with wonderful eats! Doesn’t this 15 minute meal look amazing?

TUESDAY- HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all my sweetheart readers!  I hope you feel very loved today!

I’m not a fan of Valentine’s Day dinner at a restaurant. The restaurants are so busy and the menu is usually a special prix fixe one. We have an intimate dinner at home and go out the following week!

Lobster tails are so so easy to make and cost a whole lot less than in a restaurant. Sweet C’s has a fabulous video for perfect Lobster Tails. See it HERE. The secret to a great succulent lobster tail is good lobster and to not overcook it!

WEDNESDAY

Today I’m planning all the spring decor I’ll be adding to my home. I’m thinking lots of twigs and branches. Lots of greens and fresh organics. And I’m even thinking about adding a mustard yellow color to the mix of neutrals. What a fun day to plan and dream!!!

Make sure to catch episode 8 of our new podcast Decorating Tips and Tricks HERE. We are talking about decorating mantels. What a fun conversation!

I’m making a double batch of Loaded Baked Potato Soup and freezing some for lunch!

THURSDAY

Do you eat leftovers? I have to disguise them. Bobby grew up eating leftovers day after day and is not a big fan. We eat leftovers for lunches and that’s okay, but now so much for dinner.

I made a whole chicken last week and froze the leftovers. So today I’m making a delicious single-serve chicken pot pie with a puff pastry top with some of the leftover chicken. So much easier than making pie dough and so much tastier, I think!

FRIDAY

I love Fridays, not because it’s the end of my work week… it’s not!  But that means Bobby’s home and company often comes and I love when my home is filled to the rafters! Jacqueline and Jonathan and my sweet baby Anderson are here this weekend. YIPPEE!!!! I’ll be making lots of snacks because Jonathan likes to graze when he comes home! Did you just say you would like to see a picture of Anderson? Oh of course I’ll share a sweet picture of him! He’s three and a half months old. How time flies!

Make sure to listen to episode 9 of Decorating Tips And Tricks. We are talking about FIXING PROBLEM AREAS IN OUR HOMES. You can listen HERE.

I’m making one of my family’s favorite! I’ll have all my kids home. What bliss!

SATURDAY

We love Grandma Lo Bianco’s Meatballs. My friend gave me the best (and easiest) homemade meatball recipe. It was her grandmother’s and Grandma Lo Bianco swore her to secrecy. You see how that worked! Fran says she knows her grandmother is sitting outside the pearly gates just waiting for her! YIKES!

Really, these meatballs are so scrumptious! See the recipe tomorrow. We have Fran and Grandmom Lo Bianco to thank! If you are listening Grandma Lo Bianco don’t be too hard on Fran… your meatballs have made countless meals so delicious!

For me, Valentine’s Day is also a celebration of 36 years with the love of my life. A couple of steaks, some baked sweet potatoes, a nice salad, and a bottle of wine…who could ask for anything more. Unless of course, it’s a slice of homemade Rosemary Cake fresh from the oven! Enjoy your day out…we’ll be keeping warm at home.

  5. Mmmm it all sounds delicious. Thanks for sharing!

  13. I love that you post your menus – such great ideas! I clicked the link to Grandma Lo Bianco’s Famous Meatballs but it took me to the podcast links. I tried using your “Search” and put in “Grandma Lo Bianco’s Famous Meatballs” but the recipe didn’t come up. I was hoping to get a recipe for some really wonderful meatballs and hope you can correct the link or post the recipe under “Recipes” so it can be accessed from your “Search” option.

  16. All your recipes sound mouthwatering! I’m confused though – you said you don’t really like to go out on Valentines Day and have lobster tails as your meal that night but you said you’ll be going to Philly for dinner. Is lobster what you would do if you weren’t going out? I’d like to try to make them one of these days – I love lobster…

  32. Portia Read says:

Wow Yvonne, your menu sounds delicious! Do you really have time to do all that? How is your ankle doing?

  33. Great ideas on your menu. I also don’t like going out for Valentine’s Day dinner — I have made it a tradition to include our children, and make either a whole special menu, or just a special dessert — if I am pressed for time during Valentine’s week. I spent the weekend with my girls, Daughter #1 came to visit during my visit to Daughter #2 (very stressed & who had too much in her college schedule to get away). I made a large pot of potato soup (Daughter #2 is vegetarian) and they each were able to have 1/2 gallon for their homes; and two applesauce cakes — which I divvied up for them for the week. Along with this, I had their <3 goody bags. Will need to make another applesauce cake for the guys at home this week, as I only left them a quarter of a cake. It was a good visit, and Daughter #1's former housemate came to visit as well — and they had lots to catch up on! We had a great Valentine's weekend visit.

  34. Mary Pool says:

I use your recipe for chicken soup. It is excellent and a big hit in my house!

  35. Carmen Martin says:

What a lovely menu! I’m working on my menus for the week right now & definitely adding some of these recipes! There doesn’t seem to be a link to the chicken pot pie recipe, is that something you can add? I’d love to try it!!

  36. Wishing you and your followers and Happy Valentines Day. Enjoy your family and your new grandson. Aren’t babies wonderful. Truly a gift from God.
