ON THE MENU MARCH 11TH

ON THE MENU WEEK OF MARCH 11TH- I've done all the planning for you this week!

I thought we were going to have an early spring, here at StoneGable. The weather has been so warm, the daffodils are blooming and so is the forsythia! But we had a couple inches of snow today and there is more snow and freezing rain in the forecast this upcoming week! And the temperature has dropped by more than 20 degrees.  So, I’m not quite ready for spring cooking! The garlic rants and leek tarts will have to wait for another couple weeks! Here’s what’s on the menu this week!

Let’s cook dinner!!!!

SUNDAY

I’ve had a busy, busy day weekend with family. So when everyone goes home I’ll be ordering a pizza!

  • Pizza
  • Salad

MONDAY

I love easy and stick-to-your-ribs recipes. And what sounds better for a Monday night than CROCK POT BEEF STROGANOFF! If you like recipes you will love The Wholesome Dish where this scrumptious sounding recipe is from. YUM!

TUESDAY

Snow is in our forecast tonight!!! Our poor spring blooms are so confused this year!

We are such big soup eaters! I literally could eat it for a meal every day of the year!  If you try one thing on this week’s menu the Roasted Cauliflower Cheddar soup should be it! And make THE Dip too!

WEDNESDAY

Have you ever lost your mojo in an area of your life? Seems like being in a wheelchair for so long has messed with my photography ability. So I can’t wait to take a one-on-one photography class today to get everything straightened out!  It’s important to tend to that all important “mojo”!

THURSDAY

I love the idea of individual serving food. No wonder I love hand pies. And these savories are made even easier (and better) by using puff pastry. When you buy puff pastry don’t scrimp. Find it made with real butter and not oil. It’s worth the extra money! The taste is so so much better.

FRIDAY

I have a culinary confession. I do not like to eat fish dishes that have cheese in them. Cream Cheese is okay.  But for some reason, salmon and Feta cheese sound delicious together! Just this once, I’m breaking no fish with cheese rule.

SATURDAY

I love Saturday mornings. Saturday is often a work day for me, but I treat myself to a lazy morning on Saturday if I don’t have plans. And when I’m feeling lazy I love to watch the cooking channel! I hope you get a lazy Saturday morning once in awhile. It’s good for the soul!

I am wild about the flavor of flat iron steak! If you have not tried it, you should. It’s so easy to make.

OTHER RECIPES ON THE MENU THIS WEEK…

Kicked Up Chex Mix

Creamy And Delicious Hummus

  1. I tried the Roasted Cauliflower soup and unfortunately did not like it. I’m sorry if that is one of your personal recipes and I truly don’t like to post negative comments, but felt that the roasting made it bitter and even though there was quite a bit of sharp cheddar cheese in it, the flavor was quite bland. I know everyone’s taste is different so maybe it was just me, but I did want to express my opinion. Thanks for giving us menu ideas. …..

    1. Sorry you did not like it. Maybe it’s the cauliflower. Roasting it makes it sweet not bitter unless to roast it too long.

  2. The flat iron steak and feta spinach salmon are printed and going on the menu this week. We try to eat fish at least once a week. Thank you for sharing your delicious recipes. I’m always looking to expand my recipes.

I feel so scatterbrained right now!! I think I should start really small. And try the carrots. Then the rice. Since an injury recipes are hard for me yet I still love to read them! I think every single day sounded delicious!! We are having warm weather but we are supposed to be having rain now!! yes blizzard today where my sister and family live. Brr. Soup is what my sister loves too. The cauliflower soup would be a hit here.

  25. I loved the cauliflower soup. Was a bit hit here. Just made the hummus for the first time this past weekend. Loved that too. I don’t think there has been one recipe of yours that I’ve tried that we didn’t like. They are inspiring.

  26. Thanks for sharing your recipes. A few short years ago, I found that I love roasted red pepper hummus! Not crazy about others, but the roasted red pepper is my go to. I frequently have it as my lunch with veggies @ work– a container, can last me about 1-2 weeks. And it’s healthier than ranch dressing or other dips! I have a couple of markets that each carry it regularly as a store brand — probably for less than I can make it myself. So, I haven’t attempted to make my own.

I’m going to give your kicked up chex mix a try. Although my son says it is out of season now! We currently omit the pretzels and add in Cheez-its. I love sesame sticks, (a hard to resist snack for me) so I will give it try next time I make it. Funny how our tastes change over time.

I gave up red meat for lent — and have been eating & preparing lots of fish and a little chicken thus far. So I don’t burn myself out, I’ve been adding other seafood in as well.
