ON THE MENU- A week's worth of scrumptious menus and recipes!

I feel like I should start this post with, “HO HO HO”! It’s Christmas land here at StoneGable! The halls are decorated and lots of gifts are wrapped. And this week I’ll be making cookies. I don’t make as many as I used to, but I make our very favorites. Gingerbread men, Russian Tea Balls, The Best Sugar CookiesChocolate Chip Cookies, and Rugelach Cookies! YUM! All this talk about cookies is making me hungry. So let’s see what’s ON THE MENU!

SUNDAY

Happy December! Now is the time to order those last minute gifts. Make sure you know EXACTLY when they will arrive. It’s frustrating when gifts don’t get to our homes in time for Christmas morning!

And if you are not wrapping gifts as you buy them start wrapping now! I am one of those crazy people who love to wrap gifts (only when I have the time). If you need some ideas for wrapping pretty Christmas gifts you should see 10 VERY BEST CHRISTMAS GIFT WRAPPING IDEAS.

  • Chicken Quesadillas (This is a great how-to recipe)
  • Refried Beans
  • Fixins’- chopped tomato, shredded lettuce, guacamole, sour cream

MONDAY

Here at StoneGable it’s all about S-O-U-P! We love it. I make soup at least once a week. Because this recipe makes a vat, I’ll be freezing it for lunches!

TUESDAY

If you make one thing this week it should be Aunt Sue’s Mac and Cheese. The image below is a single serve, but you can make it in a big pan. The best part is the crumbly top! Oh, YUM!!!

Are you planning your Christmas Day menu yet? Get started now! Buy all non-perishable items so you have them on hand! Sunday the 11th I’ll be sharing a fabulous and very easy Holiday Beef Brisket… it’s made in the slow cooker! We will be having it for Christmas supper.

WEDNESDAY- SLOW COOKER DAY

Don’t let this image fool you… Holiday Beef Brisket is a FABULOUS and easy recipe that is company worthy!

As you are thinking about gift giving, how about giving to your favorite charity? What a nice way to spread Christmas cheer to a worthy cause!

  • Braised Short Ribs… Make these a day ahead. (Another oldie but goodie)
  • Roasted Carrots
  • Mashed Potatoes

THURSDAY

When things get hectic make a dinner-worthy sandwich. Just add a salad and you have a meal! Reuben’s are a favorite of mine! I keep sandwich fixings in the freezer so I can pull them out when I don’t feel like cooking! Easy-peasy!

FRIDAY

If you are having guests for dinner this holiday make sure to ask all of them if they have any food allergies. We have a couple family members that have special food needs. No food reactions at my dinner table!

And now… a public service message! Please, please, please DON’T OVERIMBIBLE at a holiday party!!!! It’s in bad taste and make a person look foolish! Let’s monitor what we drink and drink lots water in between! But you already knew that, didn’t you?

SATURDAY

Can you believe it is the 10th of December? Need a BETTER LATE THAN NEVER Christmas decorating idea? I have a good one and it’s so so easy!

On another note, what EVER has happened to pork? It tasted so so much better when I was a child. Granted it’s much less fatty today, but it lost all its amazing flavor! I still eat pork, just in a casserole or soup.

Other recipes On The Menu this week…

If you have never made gingerbread men, you should give them a try. But not just any gingerbread men! These men are nice and spicy and seriously gingerbread-y!  I make GROWN-UP GINGERBREAD MEN almost every Christmas!

RUSSIAN TEA BALLS are a family tradition. My mother made them at Christmas time and now I do too! These are beautiful little snowballs of melt-in-your-mouth sweetness!

But the good lord will provide & I am not going to let a temporary set back ruin my Christmas spirit! Thank you for your inspiring posts.
