THE SNOW IS COMING!!!!! It’s forecasted that we could get 2 feet of the wonderful, white fluffy stuff. I love love love snow! I thought I was prepared for the blizzard but some of my family are coming to StoneGable to “hunker down” (a Lancaster colloquialism) and wait out the storm! I love that we have the fun, go-to house! So I’ll be cooking and enjoying lots of company for a few days. And I couldn’t be happier! I pulled out my blog recipes to decide what warm and cozy recipes to make and thought you might like a some of them too, no matter what the winter weather in your area! Here’s a mini cookbook of my favorite winter recipes!
These recipes are hearty and filling and warm. Perfect for a cold winter day! Let’s start with dessert!
We have a bunch of apples in the frig and they will be delicious in a warm apple crisp! YUM! Of course we will dig out a hole in each crisp and add a dollop of vanilla ice cream.
I’m pulling out the slow cooker and letting this delicious broth cook all day and night. This is the most scrumptious, good-for-you broth! My family are big soup eater!
I’m grabbing a rotisserie chicken or two to make this family friendly dish tomorrow. It’s quick to make and tastes like I’ve been slaving over the stove all day!
Put a little extra zip in your lasagna using italian sausage and swiss chard. If you can’t find swiss chard use spinach! Make a big pan or individual one’s as shown here. Great any time of year!
This scrumptious chicken is a staple at StoneGable and it’s on the menu tonight! My grandmother, Nani, made it and her mother too! Everyone in our snowy home will be so excited!
We eat peach and apple dumplings for breakfast. I call it “legal morning pie”. It’s full of fruity goodness and we serve it in a bowl of milk. It’s another Lancaster County thing! If peaches are not in season use peeled apples. This is so so good and your home will smell heavenly!
This recipe is a must-try no matter the weather. It’s easy to make and complex in flavor. It smells amazing and this recipe says love to me!
These little pies go quick! I make them ahead and they are ready for whenever any family member gets hungry! When we have lots of family here,Bobby usually makes breakfast and I make dinner. Everyone is on their own for lunch… but I’ll have these hand pies ready along with a slow cooker of soup!

I’ll be making this for an easy morning breakfast (Bobby makes the sausage and fruit). This is stick-to-your-ribs-good and it makes a big pan full! Seconds, anyone?
Aren’t these adorable? I know!!! And they taste better than they look. YUM! A perfect way to show someone that you love them on a cold winter’s day!
Most of the east coast has or is getting some kind of bad weather this weekend. And the middle of the country has been hit hard too! I pray that you are safe, with those you love and have lots of great, cozy, winter food!
Lots of warm love coming your way!
