LAYERING BEDDING LIKE A DESIGNER… EASY TIPS AND TRICKS

Beds take up lots of room in a bedroom. They not only take up lots of actual space, but visual space as well. That’s why a beautifully made bed can make the whole room look amazing! Designers know this and use bed linens to their maximum potential! A fabulously made bed can make the whole room appear updated and chic and beautiful, even if the rest of it is very ordinary!  And layering bedding really amps the up the wow factor even more! Here are some tips and tricks for layering bedding like a designer! We can all do this!

START WITH A BOTTOM FITTED SHEET

LAYERING BEDDING LIKE A DESIGNER- Easy to do tips for making a fabulously stylish bed-stonegableblog.com

Start with the bottom layer…the fitted sheet. I like white because it looks fresh and crisp, is easy to clean and gives our eyes a rest from patterns and color. As you can see I don’t iron my bottom sheet. It goes pretty much straight from the dryer on to the bed. I like to use a little homemade linen spray, in a lavender citrus scent, to spray on the bottom sheet. I let it dry and then continue making the bed.

ADD A TOP SHEET

LAYERING BEDDING LIKE A DESIGNER- Easy to do tips for making a fabulously stylish bed-stonegableblog.com

Put the flat sheet on the bed with the wrong side facing up.  If possible pull it all the way up to the top of the mattress.

Make sure you have enough room at the top to fold the sheet over other blankets or a thin quilt or comforter. The fold of the sheet will be facing right side up and look pretty!  And make sure you tuck the sheet in under the mattress at the bottom of the bed and make crisp hospital corners! If you like other blankets on your bed now’s the time to add them in thin layers. Tuck them in with the sheets.

Even though I don’t like to iron bed linens I will plug in the iron next to the bed (put a fluffy towel under it) and iron the top part of the flat sheet. It looks so much better when it’s folded over!

ADD A QUILT OR BEDSPREAD

LAYERING BEDDING LIKE A DESIGNER- Easy to do tips for making a fabulously stylish bed-stonegableblog.com

Add a bedspread or quilt to your bed. Make sure the bottom of the quilt falls below the mattress and the top of the quilt is folded over at the top.

Then fold the sheet over the top of the quilt and tuck in at the sides of the bed.

Again, I love white. I think it plays so nicely with all bedding I choose! It’s easy to clean too!  I forgo extra blankets because they are cumbersome and heavy. I prefer to layer my bedding with a down comforter in place of blankets.

MATCH STANDARD PILLOWS TO YOUR SHEETS

This is sorta a no brainer! Use the pillows that comes with your sheets.

MATCH EURO SHAMS OR DECORATIVE PILLOW SHAMS TO YOUR COMFORTER OR DUVET COVER

LAYERING BEDDING LIKE A DESIGNER- Easy to do tips for making a fabulously stylish bed-stonegableblog.com

Use 2 Euro shams for a double or queen bed and 3 for a California King or King bed. Or use 2 standard pillow shams on a double bed. There are many ways to arrange bed pillows and decorative shams. I prefer to stand my bed pillows up against the bed and stand the pillow shams or euros in front of them.

I love love love pillows so I use shams that match my quilt and my duvet.

FOLD A COMFORTER OR DUVET DOWN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BED

If you are using a feather duvet with a cover, take it off the bed and give is a few good punches with both hands. It’s important to “fluff your feather” to keep your duvet lofty and warm.

Make sure the end of the duvet cover or comforter falls below the mattress at the end of the bed.

Fold it in thirds like an accordion so all you have to do is pull up the top of the comforter or duvet and you can snuggle in!

USE ACCENT PILLOWS

Now here’s where you can really play with color and texture and create a one-of-a-kind designer bedding look. Don’t miss this step! Embellish your bed with great throw pillows! Play with combinations and configurations! Change them up often!

If you like pillows as much as I do… invest in a big basket to put near your bed to throw your extra pillow into when you are using your bed.

The little “welcome” pillow came from my friend Ann’s shop! I love love love her things! Head over to On Sutton Place and loof for her shop link at the top of her page.

ADD A NUBBY THROW

Throw a nubby blanket  haphazardly at the end of the bed and let part of it spill onto the floor. Such drama! I think throws are such teases! They say, “Don’t you want to wrap yourself up in me and crawl into bed”? They add a welcoming layer!

ADD A BED TRAY OR A COUPLE OF BOOK ON TOP OF THE BED.

I have a bed tray that sits on top of our guest room bed. I embellish it when we are not expecting guest. It looks so pretty when I walk by the room!

When we have guests I stock it with current magazines and books I think my guests will like. My guests love a tray to have morning coffee on or use it for their computers, etc when they are in the bedroom.

  1. Love the bedding? where did you find the quilt and duvet cover?

    1. The duvet cover came from our local Pottery Barn outlet. Once in a while I still see ones like it there.

    2. Where did you get the nubby cream throw? Please send link so I can possibly buy it.

      1. Hi Julie, I found the throw on Amazon years ago. Sorry, I don’t see it anymore.

  2. Lanita Anderson says:

    Hi Yvonne,
Loved your post today….thanks for the step-by-step instructions! They not only made the bed look pretty, but also made it sound so easy! I love the colors you’ve chosen for your guest bedroom, too…
    Blessings to you!
    Lanita

  3. Thank you for this post! The other day hubby and I where watching a movie. This lady went to bed and my hubby said that bed looks so comfortable! I’m getting ready to change up my bedding. I do quilts! I have a red one for the holiday months. I need to find a comforter to go at the foot of the bed! I have matching shams but I think I need one more layer! I use a feather bed under my fitted sheet. It is like sleeping on a pillow.
My Mom was for ever buying new bedding! That was her thing! When she passed away in her closet was a beautiful white comforter (never used)! I use it in spring and summer!
I’m going on vacation when I return time to refresh my bedding!
Have a wonderful day! Thank you!

  4. I just love all of your bedding and the pillows are gorgeous…great tips, Yvonne!! Happy Thursday ~

  5. Karen VanLoo says:

Thank you for these tips! It truly makes a difference when you make the bed up the way you explained, and I learned a very helpful tip, folding the top the sheet back with the quilt and tucking it in! It’s going to make my bed look better THANK YOU THANK YOU! I love layering and adding accent pillows, and a throw at the end, how fabulous!

  6. So pretty and welcoming! Loved the welcome pillow:)
Is that picture new on the wall that features pics from your blog heading? I love it!

I still have not put window treatments on my living room and patio door off the dining room. I noticed you have woven roman shades. Are you happy with them? I was thinking of going with the darker color but my hubby thinks the lighter woven. I have dark hardwood floors, warm fruitwood case goods, and my trim around the windows is a bit deeper than honey oak. Any thoughts? I do plan on adding side panels once I figure out what I’m going to do with my upholstery.

  7. I love this bedroom. Is the map a DIY? I tried to look for a tutorial on your blog but had no luck. I love that map!

  8. Beautiful look Yvonne!
    Love the nubbly blantket.
Can you ever have too many pillows on the bed? I have 9.

  9. This is my favorite room in your house. The bed looks wonderful and I love the color.scheme too. But it’s the details that steal my heart! The map art you made and the nest pictures plus the transferware plates. The room makes me happy to look at too 🙂

  10. Sandee Spencer says:

Love, love, love this instruction. Where did you get the nubbly blanket!

  11. What a dreamy bed!! Packing my bags and on my way . 🙂

  12. Love the easy tutorial on layering the bed. The bed looks so welcoming, and I love the idea of adding a bed tray to a guest bed for that extra touch of hospitality! Very pretty, I would be happy to be a guest in your home!

  13. Ellie LaJuett says:

I love the tips and the simple elegance of your room. I like it too that it would be easy to change out colors!

  14. Wendy Howell says:

Very nice!!! I look forward to your posts each day!

  15. Would love to have the recipe for your linen spray–sounds heavenly!

  16. I love to read your posts, but lately I’ve noticed there are so many ads inserted that it becomes hard to read and follow along.

    1. Hi Carol, Just paying the bills. StoneGable costs a lot of money to run. These ads offset the bills. I hope you can overlook them and enjoy the blog.

  17. Joanne B. says:

Thanks Yvonne! I KNOW you wrote this post especially for me! A couple of weeks ago when you did your sofa pillow post I commented and requested ideas on bed pillow dressing. I asked, and you delivered! That’s what I call a responsive blog! I loved seeing your tips today and realize now that there is no right/wrong way- it’s just what ever pleases me. I actually picked up a great tip from Kim at Savvy Southern Style just the other day- tuck your bed pillows inside the comforter at the foot of the bed- it adds that extra puffy, fluffy look I love, hides my bed pillows, but keeps them handy for nighttime. Perfect solution for me! Thanks for ALL your wonderful home-keeping posts daily. I love reading them- I find it keeps me motivated and as a full time “housewife/homemaker”, it encourages me to celebrate my efforts to create a beautiful (in our eyes)and comfortable home daily!

    1. Yes, I did Joanne! I believe I told you that I would do this post! Thanks for the great idea!

  18. Donna Esmiol says:

Yvonne, My husband and I prefer a lightweight matalesse to a duvet or comforter as we get hot at night. I am wanting to buy a new set but am torn between white or a color as I want some oomph without a lot of layers. Also can you use a duvet without a insert as an extra layer in the colder months? Thanks!

  19. A great post! Thanks for sharing such great ideas! I have just purchased a sleep number bed, and it does give me some problems when trying to “dress” it, but I am learning. This helps so much! I love your decor sense and color schemes. Keep up the good work Yvonne!

    1. Janice (or anyone) do you like your Sleep Number Bed? Hubby and I are thinking of getting one and I would love to hear from anyone that has one. I know you can read the reviews at the Sleep Number Bed site but I don’t always trust them.

  20. I love posts like this! And I love, love, love this bedroom. Everytime I see pics of it I think it looks so welcoming and cozy.

I feel stupid asking this question as it is probably something everyone knows but me but where do you put your pillows that you sleep on when you make the bed?

    1. That’s a great question, Shyanna! I keep a big basket in my bedrooms that I stash pillows in when the bed is in use. I do not like pillow clutter all over the floors!
      Hope this helps.

  21. Elaine Culbert says:

Hi Yvonne: Now and then, I receive compliments on my general decor but to my eyes, my bed has always looked wrong and unfinished. Thanks to your detailed post, I FINALLY see what the problem is!! The answer is the white quilted cover you show; the next layer after the top sheet.

Up to now, I use a blanket over the top sheet with a folded duvet at the bottom for cold nights BUT my bed looks unkempt because any bumps (from say, the mattress pad or someone just sitting on the bed) always show through the top sheet/blanket layer.

I now realize the thicker quilted layer (instead of a blanket) hides those inevitable bumps and lumps! So again, a big thank you for opening my eyes! I hope I can find a white quilt like yours (not easy in Ontario, Canada) but will just keep looking. Your bedroom looks so welcoming yet sophisticated and “finished”. I hope I can achieve the same!

  22. Alice Calsada says:

Just lovely, every detail is perfectly appointed.

  23. I am curious about the rug in the room, where to purchase, and is the bed full size?

  24. I love a well made bed. Your tips are are great and I appreciate the details. Your guests must feel very welcome and pampered!

  25. Beautiful and so welcoming. Lucky guests!

  26. Simply gorgeous! Where did you get the white quilt and white shams from? LOVE white!

    Beautiful blog!
    Susan

    1. I find them at HomeGoods. They seem to have great white quilts almost anytime I go there.

      1. wow would never have thought to look there – oh so happy tomorrow is Saturday – I feel a Homegoods shopping trip coming on! Happy weekend!
        Susan

  27. What size is your bedding in relation to the bed? I have the same size sheets, etc. as the bed and my top sheet, etc. barely meet the bottom of my mattress; they’re not long enough to tuck in. Also, do you have your box springs covered? i love your bed and the room along with the ideas you have for making it cozy and welcoming for your guests. Anyone would be so fortunate to be a guest in your home.

    1. I know what what you mean, Rebecca! My bed is a queen and so are is all the bedding because I want the quilt etc to fall just below the mattress. My master bed is a queen too and we buy queen sheets and king quilts and duvets.

      1. Thanks so much for responding. I appreciate everything you do for the blog; I know it’s a lot of work but it’s so rewarding for us readers.

  28. Sherry Myers says:

The throw… a tease? I think it’s Ms. Yvonne, the dream room maker, that’s the tease! This whole room screams, “Come in and bask in the beauty and comfort of this sumptuous decor!” Maybe ‘screams’ is not the right verb. I think, “Calgon, take me away,” moment just met its match! Now, let me fetch my bathrobe and slippers, I’m moving in this room!?
Thanks, Yvonne! I don’t think Martha could have done a better job!?
    Sherry

  29. Thanks for the tips, great post. I thought I was the only one who does hospital Connery on their bed still.
Love the tip on just using quilts and duvet , instead of doubling up on the blankets. Just passing this along
I was in pottery barn and asked how they make the duvets look so fluffy, they said that they put two down comforts in one duvet.?

    1. The one on the bed in this post has two duvets in it too! LOVE that tip. The downside is that it’s heavy!

  30. This was such a fun post! I wish my box springs did not show when the covers are pulled back. Mine does not fit down into the bed frame like yours. Dust ruffles are not my favorite and take away from the “clean” look. Thank you for doing this every month with me. You are wonderful. <3

    1. Hi Ann: could you not buy an extra fitted sheet and put that over your boxspring? It will then be covered when everything is turned back. Just a thought!

  31. I love this post, Yvonne! You inspired me to go buy a new, lightweight quilt for our bed for fall. We are redoing our bedroom next spring, and I just needed a little “something” to get me through until then, and help me continue to love our bedroom a little longer! For $36 I found a PB-look quilt and shams and now our room looks fresh and pretty again. You are genius 🙂 Mwah!! xo, Andrea

  32. I love this post! I’m getting ready to change the bed in my guest room to a queen bed, but I’m having a hard time finding s design I like. I love the bed in your post, could you tell me how to find one like that? You have beautiful ideas! Thank you, Phyllis

    1. I’m not sure they are making my bed anymore. It was from a Martha Stewart collection years ago. Did you see the Paula Deen collection? I love her low country style!

  33. Oh my, what a lovely room. I love the colors. The bed is so inviting…I just want to come for a visit and crawl in for a nap!!! Yvonne, I love your blog. It’s the first thing I look for when I open my e-mail inbox in the morning. Thanks for your wonderful tips and stunning photographs!

  34. Hi Yvonne, I really like you blog so much that since I discovered it I started to buy things, like the pedestal cake (3 in white colour) o basket for the pillows and now I decided to change my bed too…thank you !!

  35. Erica Thomas says:

    Yvonne,
I just love your posts. It was so helpful in getting the guest room ready for my mother-in-law and sister coming to help with my kids during my husbands bypass surgery this week. It looks inviting and I think mom will like a comfortable place to rest in dealing with her son. I think the fresh flowers are just the finishing touch on the bed tray.
    Thank you.

  36. I have learned so much from your posts, Yvonne, and I look forward to reading your blog each and every day. I have followed your ideas for the guest room to a “T”, and my Christmas guests were very appreciative of my “cozy” guest room. My only problem has been finding a bed tray like yours. The only ones I’m able to find are strictly trays – no side pockets for magazines and books. Where did you find yours?

    1. Hi Vicky: I had a white wicker one years ago (exactly like Yvonne’s) and it came from Pier 1 (Canada). I’d keep my eye open if you have a store nearby. Also, check out Home Goods (Home Sense in Canada).

  37. Thank you for a great tutorial! Love it! I keep eyeing the “nest” pictures on the wall. I am guessing that was a DIY or did you purchase it? Can you give me any info on it? I have the perfect spot for something like this.

  38. Sandy Raymond says:

Do you happen to remember the name of the Pottery Barn gold printed Duvet? I’ve tried searching for it with no luck.

    1. No Sorry! Give them a call and tell them to look on my site. That might help.

  39. Nicole Leman says:

Hi Yvonne, I really love your blog and look forward to reading it everyday! Thanks for sharing all of your great ideas!

I found this tutorial so helpful…thanks for the easy step by step instructions. You make it look like anyone can do this! I never thought of using a quilt over the top sheet so now I will be looking for one for sure. Can’t wait to use your tips and see the final results!

    Thank you!

From a devoted follower from Ontario, Canada.

    1. Hi Nicole, I particularly love my Canadian readers! My brother-in-law is from Winnipeg. And he’s the best!

  40. Tracey Harris says:

    Beautiful!
I am still searching for a bed tray that appeals to me and is within my budget!
My guest room gets seasonally changed, and though my granddaughter is its primary occupant presently, she is thrilled every time I redo ” her room.”

  41. Tracey Harris says:

I forgot to ask– I have a deep mattress and find it difficult to find sheets that fit! If they fit when I get them, it seems one washing makes them not fit! No matter if $30 or $80!
    Help!!

  42. Great article and very useful tips to layer bedsheet in a proper way. I always find it difficult to keep my bedsheets properly. Thanks for sharing these useful tips.

  43. Excellent tips definitely worth implementing. The properly made bedding can provide a whole new look to your room. The tips you mentioned in the article will surely going to help me out to layer bedding like a designer. Keep writing more articles like this!

  44. Patti Kander says:

Great tips on making the bed looking fantastic!! That was one thing we had to do when we were younger at home, our mother had us make our beds every morning. To this day I still do that makes the bedroom look refreshed for the next night. But I don’t pull the cover and sheets down like you do, but it really makes the room also look great!!

  45. The bed surely takes up most of the space and also as the main attraction, the centre of attention of any bedroom, unless you have a super large bedroom! So yes it is important to have it as beautiful as possible. But then I have to manage to fit all the beautiful stuff within my budget, which is suck. Finding the right colour while constantly worrying about the price is not a pretty feeling while out shopping! Beautiful choice of colour you got there, the bed seem super cozy! Thank you for sharing!

  46. Great article and very useful tips to layer bedsheet in a proper way. I always find it difficult to keep my bedsheets properly. Thanks for sharing these useful tips.

  47. Love your blog! Where did you get your duvet inserts?

    1. We have a Pottery Barn outlet near us and I usually get them from there. They are a very good quality for the money.

  48. Thanks so much for this tutorial! We just went from a queen to a king, so I’m completely starting over. Your bed is beautiful!

  49. Claire Rogers says:

Thanks so much Yvonne! I actually did it in correct order and manner. You did help to boost my confidence. Now, bedding decor is a joy and I am happy! Will be investing in more bed linen sets and comforters. Now I will be able to show off my bedroom! Looking forward to doing my own comforters, too!

  50. My bedding is all white also. And I LOVE to make up my bed! Now that we have moved I finally found my shams (in the guest room closet). My Husband reminded me the other night as we went to bed of Jeff Foxworthy. His “live” concert he says your either married or gay if you have that many pillows on your bed ! LOL

  51. Cheryll H. says:

Thank you for showing how to make a proper and comfortable bed, not to mention a beautiful one. So often as a guest, I find that folks don’t know the proper way to make a bed. What you are showing is so valuable, so many aren’t aware of how to be a homemaker and to extend hospitality.

  52. Fresh, crisp white bedding cannot be beat. However, enhanced by your (perfect) touch of color has kept the room from appearing stark or sterile in appearance. Beautiful! I have a request…I simply cannot find good sheets anymore. Some don’t fit properly, fabric is harsh, wrinkle badly, and some have had a chemical odor! I cannot afford $200.00 sheets when I like two sets. I thought I had found some that would work, though the top sheet wrinkled badly and had to be pressed, in doing so noticed the sheets are made of 100% recycled plastic….Tomorrow’s rags yuck! Love your tips Yvonne.

  53. Whoops, forgot to mention the “plastic sheets” Lol…were expensive and organic!

  54. Let everyone beds that are layered but it Texas it’s so warm and air conditioning is so high that they aren’t practical

  55. Just beautiful and looks do comfy and inviting!!!

  56. Heather O. says:

I absolutely love love your duvet cover and shams…looks like a pottery barn fabric but I don’t see it for sale anywhere…where did you get it if you don’t mind me asking?

    1. Hi Heather, I’ll be doing a post on resources next week. I’ll have all the links then.

  57. I love the way you showed how to make a welcoming bedroom, perfect for a quest room. I like all the added touches.

  58. Thank you so much for this post! The layer by layer is perfect for understanding how to have a lovely bed.

  59. Love the look, I too am crazy about a warm, cozy, inviting bed.. I am doing our room over , changing from a beautiful mohogany poster bed with the huge pineapple of which I have forgotten the name for the moment lol, to a antique looking bronze metal bed frame, went from dark blue walls w white trim ( cold) to a wonderful soft aqua ceiling and swiss cream walls again with the white trim, I have ordered, light gray linen duvet cover and gorgeous pillow cover with a deep ruffle from same company, along with that I am ordering the dust ruffle and sheets ( too expensive to do all at once lol) I had ordered the cream curtain panels in linen that tie at the top but now wonderring if they too should be the gray, didn’t want to get too much gray and want to bring out touches of the turquoise , I also ordered a wonderful aqua duvet cover from Pier One , it is so beautiful, just not sue which I will use and return. Then I ordered aqua Shams in Linen that tie w big bows, just for a punch … Can’t wait to see how the room comes together and which ones I keep lol.

  60. RamayanSupply says:

Awesome post! Thanks for great instruction. The bed looks awesome and color combinations are excellent.

  61. You always inspire me to try my hand at different things with your ideas! THANKS…

  62. Yvonne, I can’t express to you how much your smart, fresh, and unique design sense gets me motivated!! I’m fairly new to finding you online since I’m not on my computer for personal use very much…old school magazine lover. Your blog is my favorite, and I never even feel the need to venture out anywhere else for inspiration. Yesterday afternoon I decorated my front porch (1923 bungalow cottage) with inspirations from your blog. I have a lantern addition and paired that with your pumpkin pillow and gingham check pillow. Decorating is my LOVE. Thank you for providing a fabulous place to go for TOTAL ENJOYMENT. And, bought The Cottage Journal magazine this morning (my favorite)and there you were featured in the magazine. Congratulations!

  63. This was the BEST post. I’ve looked up how to make beds before, but this is by far the best one I’ve read. Thanks!! <3

  64. Joan Reilly says:

I loved this tutorial and I love your guest room look!
I always feel so sorry for my guests when they try to put the bed back together in the morning.
I too love pillows and a beautifully made bed!
I always tell them not to worry. Their company is more important!
I love the basket idea too! My pillows always wind up on the floor!

  65. Yes, I like….simple, but elegant .

  66. Yvonne once again I’m amazed by you! I love your bedding. So nice to get a refresher on such a necessary comfort. So inviting!

  67. Steve Clark says:

    Yvonne,

You are obviously an expert at this. Maybe you can help me. My wife and I want wider blanket coverage. I have looked around the Internet to no avail. We use two cotton blankets in the winter time and I wondered about offsetting them ten inches or so. But this seems to create other issues with straightening and pulling while sleeping as well as having only a single layer to the outside. Brrrr . What would be great is if we could find a REALLY wide blanket for our Cal King bed. Not found yet. I am sure this is an age old problem for couples. Any other ideas?

    1. Not sure about that Steve. Maybe take two blankets to a great seamstress and she can sew them together. I bet a great sewer could do it. Hope this helps.

  68. Sondra Wineinger says:

Yvonne, I love this comforter. Where can I purchase it from?

    1. The comforter is from The Pottery Barn Outlet. I got it a few years ago and I’ve not seen it on their site for awhile. So sorry I can’t tell you more!

  69. Teresa Martens says:

I just discovered your beautiful blog today whilst searching on how to make a bed more “fluffy”. Imagine my delight when I found your tutorial! I’ll be back to discover more! Thank you for sharing.

    1. Hi Teresa, Welcome to the StoneGable family!!! We are so happy you found us too!

  70. Dale Whittaker says:

I love your bed description and visual impact. I am working on our master bed and would love to know what the name of the golden duvet cover is please. I live in New Zealand. But I would love to know what brand of linen is displayed here.

  71. Dale Whittaker says:

Oh, I see you answered someone else asking the same question. I had already found that I like Pottery Barn designs. They are gorgeous.

  72. Laura Baer says:

Love this! Are all the shams standard shams on this bed and then the two accent pillows? I found an adorable duvet cover and quilt at Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale but did not like the Euro shams so I bought two standard that match the duvet and two that match the quilt and added a cute rectangular accent pillow. I, planning on standing all of those up against the bed pillows again st the headboard.

    1. Not always. It depends on the size of your bed. King size beds need more pillows. And there are as many pillow configurations as beds themselves!

  73. Every day I look forward to reading, looking at the ideas, tips you so willingly offer (share). Thank you for your generosity. You are deeply appreciated by me.
    God bless you
    T

  74. I’m not seeing your Stories of StoneGable and “Bits of Vintage” on the link provided. Can you provide some add’l info? How do I get the 20% off? Thank you; I’d love to see your selections!

  75. Thank you! I’ve been so intimidated by all the bedding but now I know exactly how and what to do. Thanks again

  76. Gorgeous!!! I just switched up my bedding for fall (splurged on a down duvet from Canadiandownandfeather.com) and now I realize what I’m missing – a bed tray!! lol thank you!!

  77. Shirley Wilson says:

I love the “nubby” throw blanket. Where can I purchase one.

    1. Hi Shirley, I found this nubby throw years ago at the Pottery Barn. Look there.

  78. Katherine says:

Hi, I love this look. Where did you get your floral duvet cover and shams? They are beautiful!

    1. HI Katherine, the pillows and duvet came from the Pottery Barn years and years ago! Sorry I don’t have a source anymore.

  79. So beautiful! I really loved this post and will definately be using these tips for our bedroom!

  80. Are the white coverlet or quilt and shams from Pottery Barn. If so, what are the names. I still love what you do.

    1. Hi Deb! Most of my white coverlets are from Pottery Barn. They really hold up to wear and tear and are easy to wash and dry. And one if from Soft Surroundings.

  81. Hi!
    Who manufactures that gorgeous
    bed? Thank you!

    1. It is from the Martha Stewart furniture collection. HOpe this helps.

  82. Thank you so much for this. I’ve been struggling on how to ‘re-fresh’ my master bedroom. This helps immensely!

  83. I love this. Such great info with step by step pictures that really show what you’re explaining. Such a beautiful and inviting bed. Thank you!

  84. I love this bedding. Where did you purchase the printed shams and duvet cover?

  85. Beautiful! May I ask where you bought the duvet cover and pillow cases?
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Kelsey, the duvet and shams came from Pottery Barn. They are no longer in stock. Sorry

  86. Advice please!. I have a gorgeous comforter set (bed in a bag type) which I bought for my new bedroom. But, I get so cold when sleeping I am thinking of a big down comforter, but how to layer?
Or, should I buy a down blanket (much flatter) and use with a regular blanket.
I look forward to your advice, thanks.

    1. Both ideas sound like wonderful options Lissa! I’m putting a duvet on our bed this week for the rest of fall and winter, but I find it heavy!

  87. Thanks for the design info. A master and two guestrooms in a home that I have for sale.😊
