I have a REVEAL today!!! A bathroom reveal! This is one of 5 bathrooms here at StoneGable. NOBODY needs 5 bathrooms! And all of them need to be updated after twenty years of living large here! We stared with this little downstairs powder room because our friends and family use it most often. We (and when I say “we” I mean Bobby) stripped it down to the flooring. Every thing in it was replaced… except the hardwoods. I’m so excited to show you what we did…
photo disclaimer: (Sorry about the quality of the images. The powder room is small and has no natural light)
I don’t have a real “before” shot, but you will get the idea from the image below. Yes, that is red and gold wall paper. I was in my Tuscan phase when I papered it. And if you look carefully you can see the butter yellow crown molding.
Here you can see Bobby steaming off the wallpaper. What a horrible job! Bless his sweet heart!
And here is the after…
We took this bathroom back to it’s Farmhouse roots. I wanted a very light, no fuss powder room with farmhouse touches!
The wide farmhouse sink came from our local Pottery Barn Outlet. We got it ages ago and it sat in our garage for months and months before it was installed in the bathroom! My philosophy is… if it’s right and so is the price GET IT!
My brother made this fun mirror from an old Lancaster Co. window.
Did you notice the planked wall behind it?
The planked wall was on my wish list. Bobby figured out a really easy and very clever way to get the look. I’ll share “HOW TO CREATE A PLANKED WALL THE EASY WAY next week. If you would love to have planked walls but don’t want to do a lot of measuring and spacing… you will love this diy!
The industrial, oil rubbed bronze light came from Lowes! And has the same finish as the fixtures.
Can you see the new crown molding Bobby built for the powder room! Thanks, honey!
Here are a few other things in the bathroom…
A chippy stool
An olive bucket that works as a trash can
A farmhouse styled shelf. I am going to take the shelf down and repaint it. I don’t like the fake chippy marks on it.
Four pictures of farm life right outside my door! (Note to self… get those little sticky dots for the back of the pictures that keep them straight.) The frames came from AC Moore and I had the mats cut for the frames.
Each image depicts a season right here at StoneGable. Top left, spring: cows in the upper field… top right, winter: snow geese in the front of our house, bottom left, fall: corn and our neighbor farm and bottom right, summer: surrounded by summer corn!
You can also get a really good idea of the wall color in the bathroom. It’s like the rest of our downstairs. Benjamin Moore Sonnet. LOVE LOVE LOVE this color!!!! It works perfectly with the Benjamin Moore Atrium White baseboard, plank wall, crown molding and door!
It took us (and when I say “us” I mean Bobby) 2 months of weekends to finish the powder room. I hope this has given you some ideas and inspiration!!!!
Our next project is planking the wall that our bar in the breakfast room sits against and building shelves. I am soooo excited for this project!!!! Then it will be a summer of yard work! AND maybe, just maybe I can talk Bobby into starting our main hall bath. We are going to strip yellow striped wallpaper (again!!!!!) and use board and batten on those walls. Sooooo excited, again!!!! I love to makeover a room!!!!
Do you have a list of things you need to get done around the house? What’s number 1 on your list?
