Let’s have a farmhouse breakfast!

FARMHOUSE BREAKFAST TABLESCAPE- A blue and white farmhouse inspired tablescape!

Breakfast will be served up on a mix and match collection of blue and white dishes. Choosing dishes that have different patterns and styles that work together is a signature look of mine! I love to set a table with dishes and bowls that are interesting and unique!

We will be eating in our little breakfast nook just off the kitchen. I think my favorite tables are my simplest like this one!

I ironed an old (decades old) square cotton tablecloth for this breakfast table.  I’ve meant to get rid of it for years, but just can’t seem to part with it. Something in the color and design makes my heart sing!

I think it is perfect for a farmhouse breakfast!

Each place is set with blue and white dishes.

It’s easy to pull out the blue and white dishes from the dish closet. All my dishes are arranged by color. I collect white dishes more than any other… followed by blue and white!

The white handled utensil are a summer favorite! I usually keep them in galvanized metal containers on a tiered tray in the center of my kitchen table where they are easy to grab!

For this table, they are tucked into navy and white handkerchiefs.  They work well with the farmhouse theme and are so easy to use.

For lots of coffee I chose an ample, round cup with a navy hemstitch design around the rim. Fun and whimsical! However, I did not use their saucers. Instead they sit on traditional blue and white Staffordshire Ironware with an all-American motif.

Isn’t the bottom of this cup and saucer adorable? It’s really fun to see someone across the table sip coffee!

A table would not be properly set if the bubble glasses didn’t appear! I use these more than any other goblets. They are sturdy and heavy and they go with everything!

To finish off each place setting I added a little white milk bottle of garden flowers. I love love love orange with blue and white! These little bursts of color are called Lantana.

The centerpiece is as simple and quaint as the rest of the table. A blue and white checked coffee pot substitutes as a vase. It is also filled with garden flowers. A duo of blue and white plates sit under it.

I arranged a mix of yarrow, lantana, geranium, zinnias and lemon balm. Early most mornings you will find me walking the garden in my jammies, snips in hand and carrying a gathering basket.  I cut flowers and pick fruit and veggies and herbs for the day. It really is a wonderful way to wake up and greet the morning!FARMHOUSE BREAKFAST TABLESCAPE- A blue and white farmhouse inspired tablescape!

Zinnias are such a favorite of mine. They are happy flowers! The more vibrant the blooms the better I like them!

My paternal grandmother’s favorite flowers were snapdragons and my maternal grandmother’s favorite flowers were marigolds. I plant lots of both of them every year to remember those great ladies.

A little lidded sugar bowl holds homemade strawberry jam. I make it almost every year. So so easy! Even for a beginner. If you would like to make jam this summer you can see how I make it HERE.

It sits on another Staffordshire Ironstone dish.

These are our everyday salt and pepper shakers. My daugher Jacqueline and her hubby Jonathan got them for us when they first got married. They look like they belong in a farmhouse kitchen… like mine!

Strawberries are in season right now so a berry bowl of them grace the table. YUM! There’s nothing quite like just picked strawberries.

  1. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your tablescapes, ideas and recipes! You are the queen of tablescapes and such an inspiration to so many of us. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day and there is nothing better than a weekend breakfast with all the family, preferably outdoors, lots of fresh coffee, fresh fruit and yoghurt for me. Of course the children love croissants and good old American pancakes, something I have loved introducing French children to when they are here for sleepovers with maple syrup! Your table is so pretty, I’d be worried I would never leave!

  3. Absolutely perfect! I love everything on your table. Blue and white are my favorite color combination and you have used such pretty patterns ,from the table cloth to the dishes. The pop of colors in the flowers really completes your gorgeous table scape.

  4. I love this tablescape Yvonne! The blue and white is so fresh and pretty…that Staffordshire bowl with the cherries is to die for (I love cherries…they’re so happy-looking)…and your grandmothers’ favorite flowers are such a colorful and sweet addition. What a great way to start a day!

I love the blue and white! So cheery and summery…your flowers are beautiful. Whenever I visit Lancaster County I’m alway amazed at the beauty and abundance of the flowers! I might have to go through my great aunt’s old delft and see what pretty blue dishes I can unearth!
    Thanks for the inspiration!

  6. Lovely, fresh, summery. I would love to know the make/manufacturer of the buffalo check China. Thanks for an inspiring tables ape!

    1. Hi Suzy! The back of the dishes say “At Home”. The site I purchased them from no longer carry them.

  7. Deborah B says:

    Good morning,
Just love your farmhouse table setting!!!
Please let me know where you purchased the water goblets & white milk bottles.
    Thank you.

    1. Hi Deborah, I found the bubble goblets years ago at Reading China and Glass. The little milk bottles came from a local shop called Amy’s Fresh Vintage in Strasburg, Pa. Hope this helps!

    1. Coming from the iconic queen of gorgeous blue and white… what a compliment!

  8. Carol Davis says:

  25. Marilyn Soto says:

Love this- 2years ago we moved from FL to Northern GA and I switched to all white dishes ( but just couldn’t part with my old nautical red white and blue ones ) . After seeing your table I’m so glad I kept them ! I now have some great ideas on how to ncorporate them into my summer telescape. Where in the world did you find the white with blue hem stitched cups ???? I have to have some. And the idea of using bandanas for napkins is delightful. I found some red, white and blue ones at Wal-Mart for less than $1 each last year and wasn’t sure what I would do with them -but now I know. Your post make me happy and inspired……thank you.

    1. Hi Marilyn, Aren’t the hemstitch cups adorable? Unfortunately, I cannot find a vendor who sells them any longer. They are called “at home”.

  26. they are all lovely. I am especially fond of the cobalt blue colors and the farmhouse breakfast is such a sweet way to start the day. and I love the trim on the plates too. Hugs P.S. would love for you to share at my link party today

  27. This just says summer to me! The blue and white are so farm charming. I love your pretty tables. But I have a question. I don’t know if you can help me, but would appreciate any ideas. The middle of our table is filled with 6 bottles of hot sauce. Always! What would make that look, not necessarily pretty, although that would be nice, at least interesting?

  28. very beautiful brakfast tablescape. love the combination, perfect

  29. C. Libbey says:

Hi there, I truly enjoy your posts! I think you prepare the most exquisite tablescapes. However, if I may humbly make a suggestion I think many of your blog followers like myself would greatly appreciate it.
I follow many blogs and the main reason is to get ideas and tips. My favorite blogs are those that help us turn our ordinary things into fabulous little pieces.
But it is difficult to follow when we do not receive the detailed info.
I noticed, specially with your tablescapes, that you do not list the manufacturer of the pieces nor the store you got them from if known. I for one LOVE when a blogger lists every detail so that I can run with the masses to get the items. After all, that’s the main reason I follow blogs.
I understand sometimes you may not remember where you got them or it was a gift, but not listing any details about the items makes the article seem almost pretentious. As if all you want to do is show but not tell.
Please don’t take it the wrong way! As I said before, I truly enjoy reading your posts. I simply think posting details would really turn a simple post into what I think you intend them to be, Inspirational! Otherwise, they would be just an image, a pretty image!
    Thanks for your time.

    1. Thanks so much for this positive input. I am learning how to do a “shop the post” where I list the things I have with links or items very similar. There is a learning curve so I hope I can get to this soon!

  30. I absolutely love your blog! It is a highlight to my day and very inspiring! My fav is
Tablescapes and decorating so you can see why I love your ideas. I am a foodie & love reading cookbooks ❤️ I do not like negative comments and don’t understand why ppl must leave them?? Just move on and find a site that suits you better? Thanks for sharing your gifts, your home/garden and your faith. I enjoy it all!
    Blessings ???

  31. Tonya P Jackson says:

    Love your ideas!!❤ so inspiring!

  32. I love blue and white dishes and have a few different sets of them. Your setting is very beautiful and gives all of us great inspiration for our own tables.
    Thank you so much!

  33. Mary Chris says:

I love the blues. Great job.

  34. Marilyn Gillis says:

Love how you’ve worked a blue and white tablescape into your kitchen decor that normally doesn’t use blue…….feeling inspired

  35. Everything comes together perfectly! Where do you find your colored handle flatware? I’m always looking but no luck! Thanks

  36. Beautiful as always! Thanks for the inspiring tablescape (I love to play with my dishes, although I don’t have nearly as many as you do. My collection is growing slowly, however.)

Something I wanted to note: your tablecloth is exactly the same as the cloth napkins I used on my dinner table last Sunday. I got them at a thrift store. I don’t have the matching tablecloth as you do, but the napkins looked great, nonetheless, with the tablecloth I did use. If only my napkins could talk, maybe they’d tell me they were once paired with your tablecloth a couple of decades ago! : )

  37. Your farmhouse table is so beautiful! I love how you put some relatively simple pieces together with more elegant pieces and made such a stunning table. Your use of the blue and white bandana handkerchiefs for napkins is so fun. I too, like to give a nod to my grandmothers in my home decor and gardening. It gives one such a warm, grounded feeling. Thanks for sharing.

  38. Mary Ann Stowe says:

This is the prettiest tables ape I’ve seen in a while! Who is the maker of the lidded sugar bowl (with the bluebird)? Thanks!

  39. Hi Yvonne, I’m inspired by you creativity! Where can Infind your pretty bubble glasses? Are they glass or another material? Thanks!

  40. Jayme Schron says:

Could you please share information on the bubble glasses that you use with your blue and white china thank you enjoy your post so much !

    1. Hi Jayme, I found those locally but I think there are similar ones on Wayfair. Hope this helps.

  41. Looks so beautiful Yvonne! The menu is perfect for a leisure weekend!

  42. Donita Keller says:

PLEASE share where you found those adorable white coffee mugs with the red gingham bottom! Thank you!

    1. Hi Donita, I’ve had these for years. The company that carried them is no longer in business. So sorry!
