FALL PILLOW LOVE… DECORATING FOR FALL WITH PILLOWS

FALL PILLOWS-Enjoying the beauty of fall in your decor-stonegableblog.com

If you love pillows then you will be wild about this post!!!!

You know it’s fall (I start early) here at StoneGable when I bring out the fall pillows! Oh, how I love pillows. And pillows can add a big pop of season to the decor you already have! Each season I get a new pillow, on sale of course, to add to my collection. This year’s pillow came from Pier I and it features pumpkins in the softer tones of the Autumn season. Today let’s look at some of the fall pillows I’ve collected over the years and I’m sharing some great fall pillows on the market right now for fall.

FALL PILLOWS-neutral pumpkins-stonegableblog.comThere is so much to love about this fall pumpkin pillow. The colors, the embroidery, the size the great linen-like construction, the zipper closure and the insert that came with it. Even the price was right for the beginning of the season… and I got it for 20% off and free shipping! I’m only showing a snippet of it because I’m saving the rest of the dining room for my FALL HOME TOUR in a couple of weeks.

Pillows are such an easy way to bring the fall season into our homes without a whole lot of fuss. And the embroidered white and blue pillow above is amazing!!! See it HERE.

Here are a few of my favorite fall pillows from my collection!

This pillow was from Pottery Barn last year and I see they are selling it again this year. Isn’t it rich looking? Perfect for fall. LOVE the colors and the embroidered pumpkins. In the fall I opt for pillows in richer colors with more embellishment.

Pairing throws with pillows makes them look so inviting…

FALL PILLOWS- orange embroidered pillow-stonegableblog.comOne of my favorite go-to sources for accent pillows is ELLIOT-HEATH DESIGNS, an over-the-top fabulous Etsy shop with hundreds of creative pillows. Yes, Heather’s pillows grace almost every room in my home!

This pillow design was taken from a pumpkin seed packet. What a bright pop of color against my white chair!

Look for an Elliot-Heath Pillow Giveaway in September!

And here’s a leaf pillow with lots of gorgeous rich browns.

Another favorite Etsy shop is HYMNS AND VERSES. Doreen made this wonderful burlap pillow that is a reminder to be grateful… and the burlap works so well for fall!

I’m a gal who loves sayings on pillow. And this beautiful sentiment will work in the guest room from now until Thanksgiving!

Homemade pillows are also at the top of my list for fall. A couple of years ago I made a pillow out of a brightly styled fall placemat. Yes, a PLACEMAT!!!! You can see how I made a pillow from it HERE.

A great fall pillow doesn’t have to have an obvious fall design on it. Look at this very versatile textured pillow from Crate And Barrel. I love to have a couple solid color pillows to work with my patterned ones!

pebble-orange-18-pillowJoss & Main is another go-to online site to find wonderful bargains. This orange and ivory geometric designed pillow would be a fabulous alternative to a more obvious fall design. The color is amazing!

  1. Love this post, Yvonne! I love decorating for Fall with pillows. I bought the Pier 1 pumpkin pillow this year too, with a couple other ones. I shop around everywhere for the home. However, I’m so addictive to Pier 1., that they asked me if I wanted to join their team! Lol! Looking forward to your upcoming posts. Your the best, Yvonne!

  2. Love all the great pillow finds as well as the ones that you already have. Great sleuthing work Yvonne! I know I will treat myself to at least one new one this fall. I agree that pillows can add that punch of color or season without going all out right now. Have a great weekend!

  3. Karen VanLoo says:

Beautiful pillows! I love pillows! My husband will never understand it LOL! I started a collection from Elliott-Heath designs, and last year I bought the same Pumpkin Seed pillow cover, because I loved yours. I am always searching for great pillows at places like HomeGoods. They’re so fun to change around for the seasons, or add a pop of color! Thank you for these fabulous ideas!

      1. Karen VanLoo says:

It sure is, and can be very addicting!

      2. Thanks for sharing “pillow eye candy”, oh my, yummy!
I thoroughly enjoy all your post!

  4. Laurie Eller says:

Ohhhh I love love the pillows. You always do such a lovely job with your beautiful SG house! I want the PB pillow. I’m going now to find it!

  5. I love the pillows. I actually decorate for 3 seasons within Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn: Early, Mid, and Late Season. Each has it’s own beauty and decor. For now, late summer it’s all about harvest: green apples(like your post earlier this week), zinnia’s, sunflowers, and pumpkins (love the white pumpkin pillows!). The leaves are still green, so I mix in some green oak and maple leaves in the decor. I’m not quite ready for the fall leaves yet. But the air is cooling here in New England, so it’s not too far away!

  6. I totally love them all! As a fellow pillow fanatic, I have a question! How do you store them all?do you can bag them, heap them in a cupboard, what?

  7. I Love your blog……love your style and the way you love your home, family and friends! I too feel the same way……and make my home the center of love, traditions and a welcome spot to land for everyone that walks through the door! Whether it’s with food, drink and of course conversation. My home is decorated for every season and all the touches that go along with it…….you are my soul sister! I did notice a disturbing distraction this morning while reading this post. There were several areas that were covered up with ads , they covered your beautiful words with annoying ads that flashed and took over the full screen at times. Very hard to navigate through when trying to read and admire your beautiful pictures. I understand ads are necessary, and I don’t mind the ones to the side, however these new ads popping up in the middle over your hard work make it very upsetting. This is a relaxing time of my day……and wish this ads would disappear from your site. I’m sure you understand the frustration of your dedicated readers 🙂
Blessings as we enter into to Fall……

    1. I know, Suzi! But it’s the nature of the beast. To put out a blog like StoneGable every day it is VERY expensive!!!! Gotta pay the bill or stop StoneGable. So I hope my readers will love the post and StoneGable in spite of the ads!

  8. Linda Ann says:

What a great collection! I just love all your fall pillows! They really do add such interest to a room…my poor bed is out of control! I always felt that pillows had to match the room, but I can see how they really can accent the space without having to match! BTW….I saw a chair similar to the one with the “Give Thanks” pillow on it but wasn’t sure about the writing and how it looked on the fabric, but seeing it here makes me think it could work in my living room! Thanks once again for your inspiration!!

  9. Linda Byrnes says:

I too just love pillows. Had to have that pier 1 white pumpkin pillow so I just went online and ordered it while it was still 20% off. Love your posts! Your home is great! I too wondered how you store your pillow collection as mine is growing!

  10. cindy baugh says:

Love all these pillows! I love to decorate with them too. Here is my dilemma though. What do you do with them when guests come over and you invite them to sit down on a couch with several pillows on it? Oh and I had to scold my husband yesterday. I found him sleeping on the couch using my pillows! Number 1, I think if you need a nap, you go to the bedroom, not sprawl all over the living room LOL. No 2 I tried to explain that oil from your hair and body will eventually show on your decorative pillows if they are used in this way. How do you handle this?

    1. I keep a big basket in each room and put them in the basket when the furniture is in use.

  11. Had to order h Pier One pillow with the little blue pumpkin on it! #blueforever #eveninfall

    1. Laurie Eller says:

Where is this pumpkin pillow with the little blue one. I want it too! It’s so sweet! I’ve looked at both pier one and pottery barn and cannot find it. Help! 🙂 thank you!!!!

  12. How did you get free shipping? I cannot find that option. Only the 20%off

  13. You have one of the most fabulous blogs around. I look forward to each new post, the new information you share, the gorgeous pictures – all A-one. Thanks so much for the work you put into creating a beautiful spot on the internet. I have a “Stone Gable” board on my Pinterest; one day I want to take the time to pin through your entire Stone Gable pins.

  14. Yvonne, if I wasn’t addicted to pillows before, I am NOW after going to the Elliot-Heath site!! I’m only on pg. 13 out of the 44 and there are so many gorgeous pillows! Thank you for sharing your very cool places to shop!! I also enjoy your Sunday pieces…our God is so awesome! Its wonderful to read thoughts from others who have been through something that you might not have gone through, but it makes you appreciate that aspect. If you have been through it, then it gives you strength to find how others are relying on the One True God. Many blessings, my dear. Have a great Fall!!

  15. Hi Yvonne,
I remember reading once on your blog that you try to buy the pillow covers so that you can just change out the insert and it is easier to store just the covers. I now do that (thank you!) but the pillow inserts that I find don’t seem to fill out the corners of the pillow covers. Does that make sense? Do you have any tips for that?

    1. I have the perfect solution. I always buy the insert one size bigger than the pillow cover. Makes a pretty plump pillow! Hope this helps Shyanna!

  16. Love the way you accessorize, Yvonne! Your home is always beautiful:)

  17. Jeri Ann Thompson says:

Love this post and I love pillows, I’m really bummed, though. I was late reading your post today and apparently everyone went to Pier 1 and ordered the pillow. They are completely out of stock! Keeping my fingers crossed they will re-stock.

  18. It’s always heartwarming when I see a fellow blogger that loves pillows as much as I do!!! Love them all, but the first one with the blue pumpkin is my favorite.

    hugs
    Sissie

  19. GwenCondit says:

I did not read the comments as I need to eat a late lunch but one thing I immediately noticed??? Your new pillow matches your new blog header !!!! So Pier1 is reading YOUR blog for color trends?!! I think so?

  20. Darn, Pier 1 is out of stock on the white pumpkin pillow. Also, I enjoy your creative designs.

  21. Great pillows. Love them all!

  22. I love how easy it is to change out your decor with pillows. I don’t do it (yet) for fall, but I do it for Christmas. I’ve got several Christmas pillows that make my house a little bit merrier!

  23. Well I love them all what a great collection.

  24. Elizabeth says:

Societyy6. is a great place for not only pillows but other wonderful things for your homes. They ship to Canada which is a bonus & have great customer service. I have bought many pillows from them for my home & as gifts. Price point is amazing.

  25. Darn! Gone all day, so just now reading your blog and the white and blue pumpkin pillow is already sold out! So hard to fine them with white pumpkins (my fav) and this would have been perfect for our home. Hopefully they will restock. As always, Yvonne, you have the best blog!

  26. Had to go to Pier One today to get the sequin pillow, which led me to HAVING to get another pumpkin sequin pillow they had – love all of these!!!! Thank you. I so look forward to seeing your email each day.

  27. Yvonne,
You have a wonderful assortment of Autumnal Pillows, dear friend!!!
I adore the one you’ve made from a placemat!!!
Thank you for sharing your sources, as well!!!
I prefer to choose one, usually smaller accent pillow
to tuck in with the others!!!
Looking forward to the Fall Homes Tours!!!
Wishing you a wonderful week ahead!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  28. Link please for pillow with blue pumpkin? I can’t find it on Pier One. 🙁

  29. Hi Yvonne,

I LOVE all of your fall pillows. Especially the first one you show. The one from Pier 1 with the blue pumpkin. I would like to buy one.

I do not see it on Pier 1.com and I have been to two stores looking for it. Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  30. Went to two Pier One stores yesterday….alas your gem of a pillow is sold out online and in stores. Insert sad face. 🙁

  31. Jo Ann Bohannon says:

The pumpkin pillow that has the little blue one on it…..do you have the sku by chance? Cannot find it at Pier I and they were going to search high and low for me if I can find the sku….thanks. I love love love your blog. JO Ann

  32. Janet magina says:

I love the new Pier One pillow, but when I went to my local store they didn’t have it and couldn’t find it in their database, nor online only database. Do you happen to be able to find a product #? Now that I can’t find it I only want it more?

  33. How do you deworm acorns? Thanks.

  34. Cindy Hancock says:

I love all your pillows, especially the one with the blue pumpkin! I cannot find it on pier1’s website. Can you tell me where to look?

  35. Gorgeous pillows! Love them all and love that French Script fabric covered chair too.

  36. Nancy pharr says:

    Love the pillows.

  37. Nancy Pharr says:

Checked out the 1st pillow from Pier 1. it looks so blue in the picture. Was soooo disappointed to see it in real and that it’s actually a dull grey. 🙁

  38. I love the fall pillows! The seed packet one is my favorite!

  39. I love all your fall pillows!!! Where did you get the plaid pillow?

    1. Hi Morgan,
I got the black and white checked pillow from Ballard Designs. It is very well made! Hope this helps.

  40. Thank you for replying! I love Ballard Designs…they have great stuff. You have beautiful taste and I love your blog!

  41. I’m always looking at placements and napkins as a source for my pillows. It’s an inexpensive way to get some great, outside the box seasonal and conversational pillows.
You’ve still got me mesmerized by your pillow storage ideas! Thanks for all you do 🙂

  42. I just ordered the pillow with no problems from Pier 1 and got free shipping, so have no idea about the above comments.
I clicked on your link HERE under the description and all was normal. I am going to order a couple others from Etsy. Thank you
for the post and for sharing.

  43. Oh Oh …You found out my ADDICTION to PILLOWS Yvonne!
I don’t buy many, but I love to make pillows for all the seasons. By making my own pillows it gives me the freedom to create what looks best in my home. I adore your light canvas leaf Pillow, as I make most from Painter’s Drop Cloths…and you sure can get many pillows!
In fact I just made my Granddaughter’s Duvet cover out of the Drop Cloth and perfect for her repurposed gable bed with only having to buy a super light duvet blanket, as the canvas is heavy enough for warmth.
I love to felt so I will be making maple leaves in the autumn colours on the canvas.
Love your blog and thank you so much for telling me how to get your emails out of my junk folder…I fell at home now every morning sipping my java…. reading my favourite Blogger, its because your so generous and thoughtful Yvonne!

  44. JudyCinNC says:

  45. Sue Radcliff says:

While in Wisconsin last fall, I bought a beautiful fall pillow, love decorating for fall, simple but pleasing to one’s eye.

  46. You are the queen of pillows?
They are all so fun. I think I like the bird one from Wayfair. He is so cute. Have a blessed day. Hello from Minnesota.
