Summer is the time to eat outside! And here at StoneGable, we have been blessed with such perfect summer weather. So, we are enjoying every drop of this unusual summer and eating outside is an evening ritual for us! Although I still love to set an outdoor table with pretty “real” dinnerware, most evening we like to pull out the great plasticware I’ve collected and use it! Come on outside and join us on the patio for a red and white tablescape… farmhouse style!
Today is IT’S ALL SET! Join me and my fabulous blogging friends for lots of tablescaping inspiration! Find the link to the other amazing tables at the bottom of this post!
This year, our property is surrounded on 3 sides by corn. The whole back yard is hugged by tall wall of corn! It makes our yard feel cozy and secluded. So different than our usual farmland vistas!
We finally found an outdoor dining table that suited our patio. The wind here can really whip across the farm fields. Winds have been so strong we’ve had a couple chairs and tables blow away.
I’ve been looking for two years for an outdoor dining set I loved and that would be tough enough to stand up to our outdoor weather! Finally, I found one I loved from Hayneedle. This weathered looking “wood” is really Polywood. Made from recycled materials. It won’t fade or chip or splinter. I can keep this set out in the elements all year long! Just what I was looking for.
Now, I would love the round table too… to put at a curved part of my patio. Just perfect for me and Bobby!
Click HERE to see the details. The table and chairs were an investment. I don’t plan on replacing them!
Can you believe the table is set with plasticware? Plates, bowls, drinking glasses, wine glasses, and flatware?
I’m using my go-to water hyacinth placemats. I’ve had these for years and they have held up so so well! If they get wet no problem!!!! I love their nubby texture, don’t you?
Each place is set with a square, white melamine (plasticware) plate…
and these darling red bowls with white stars. They are melamine too! I like to use small bowls for salads and desserts!
The red and white flatware rest on a red bandana napkin. Bandanas are amazing napkins! They are inexpensive, casual and F-U-N! And they lend themselves to a farmhouse look!
I keep a red caddy full of red and white handled flatware and any of my red, white or blue cloth napkins and bandanas. So easy to bring the caddy to the table and set it from there.
I like to keep the colors in the tablescapes I create rather “tight”. Limiting the colors of this tablescape keeps it simple, fresh and summery!
Can you find the white barn in the background of the image below? We can see farms on all sides of StoneGable. They are such a pretty site!
Yes, these drinking and wine glasses are all acrylic (plastic)! No shattered glass at this dinner! I must admit I am a bit of a glass snob! I love real glass, but these acrylic glasses are so fabulous that they get my A-okay!
Two lanterns and four milk bottles of garden flowers grace the center of the table.
The lanterns look amazing lit in the evening and lend a sparkle to our al fresco dining ambiance!
The center of the table is dotted with small white milk bottles filled with red and white flowers from the garden.
I’ll light the candles in the lanterns and crank up the music at dusk! And we will eat dinner among the fireflies!
