COUNTING YOUR BLESSINGS

counting-your-blessings-stonegableblog-com

I have been waiting for months to introduce you to the new man in my life. His name is Anderson Truesdale. I’m not disclosing his last name for privacy sake. This little boy has a very big name to grow into!  Anderson was my father’s middle name and his mother’s maiden name. Truesdale is a family name of Jonathan’s. He was born October 22 and since then he has rocked my world! Anderson is my first grandchild. I have prayed for this little guy for decades. Anderson’s entry into this world was quite normal but he was a little early. They call newborns like Anderson late-term preemies. He has all his fingers and toes and a head of black hair but his little lungs are a bit immature. The picture above was taken when he was just a couple hours old.

Not long after this dear little boy was born the delivery nurse discovered that he was not breathing properly. Then came streams of doctors and hospital staff into the delivery room to check on “our little baby”. After a short time he was whisked away to the NIC-U where he lived for the first nine days of his sweet little life.

Not the plan my daughter and son-in-law had in mind at all. Jonathan spent the first day of Anderson’s life going from the NIC-U to the maternity ward attending to both mother and baby.

Anderson was plugged into machines and put in an incubator with warming lights. He was giving oxygen and a feeding tube and lots of attention.

Those nine days were filled with tests and conjectures and long days and nights. Jacqueline was discharged from the hospital but chose to stay with Anderson living in a small, stripped down room in an adjacent hallway that was being renovated to be near her baby. Sorta creepy and desolate.

This was not in the plan! Not in our plan at all! But God… I’ve come to love those two words! But God is sovereign and was in complete control! He had the plan!

As a mother, I was not only concerned about my first grandbaby but my precious daughter too. During a quiet moment we  talked about how SHE was doing she said, “I have decided to count my blessings and to focus on how God is working in this situation”! My mother’s heart leapt for joy at her wisdom and spiritual maturity!

REJOICE ALWAYS, PRAY WITHOUT CEASING, GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES; FOR THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS FOR YOU. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Jacquline went about the new normal of her day with peace and grace and lots of thanksgiving! She was able to care for her son in the NIC-U and love on him with a “peace that passes understanding”.

During the time Anderson was in the NIC-U we all counted our blessing!

Here are just a few, a very few blessing we could count:

  • The hospital Jacqueline and Jonathan chose had a NIC-U
  • The hospital staff was fabulous!
  • Anderson was getting the best care
  • The hospital had a great restaurant
  • Anderson’s care in the NIC-U was phenomenal!
  • Anderson was the healthiest baby in the NIC-U
  • We were able to pray for all the babies in the NIC-U when we prayed for Anderson
  • This was a bonding experience for the new parents
  • I was able to be with J and J and got to hold my little grandson and help
  • We live within driving distance of our grandbaby
  • Anderson has hair like his mommy
  • He has a long torso like his daddy
  • And a thousand other blessing upon blessings

Here he is only 7 days old in the NIC-U. Finally no oxygen or feeding tubes!

It’s not easy to count our blessing, especially when things don’t go the way we plan. But blessings are all around us. God’s love for us is always there and never failing.

The closer we walk with the Father and the more we know Him through His word the more our eyes are open to His blessings!

Anderson and his mommy and daddy are at home now. Lots of wires still hooked up to him, but he’s doing fine!

As for me, I will never be the same! I am undone and totally overcome. This little boy is such a tangible blessing. He has stolen my heart!

This is one GiGi (my grandmother name) that just keeps counting her blessings! And Anderson, you are on the top of my list!

Now I am praying the verse that was said about Jesus. I am praying this for Anderson just as I prayed for his mommy and uncle when they were children… AND HE GREW IN WISDOM AND STATURE AND FAVOR BEFORE GOD AND MEN. Paraphrased from Luke 2:52.

This week’s memorization verse:

BLESS THE LORD, O MY SOUL, AND FORGET NOT ALL OF HIS BENEFITS (kind deeds). Psalm 103:2

We went through this in June with my little granddaughter, Dottie Kate. A particular nurse, Amy, helped us through everything. She is God’s angel on earth. Now, Nana has joined a crochet group that makes little bonnets for wee folks in the nicu as one was gifted to Dottie during her time there. Faith is such a blessing at times like this. God bless you for sharing this; that is one cute little boy!

Congratulations, Yvonne! Grandchildren are a blessing!

  14. Praise be to God for all of our blessings. I have walked the same path that Jacqueline walked: 44 years ago. My precious firstborn was a late term premie with hyaline membrane. He grew into a wonderful 6′,2″ healthy man. Those first scary weeks sent me to my knees; begging my Father to please let my baby live. All through his life during the tough times I would remind him of those days when every thing seemed to be against us…..but GOD heard and answered our prayers.
Thank you for sharing and for allowing the Holy Spirit to prompt this memory and show me how He has held us through the years. This has been a hard week for me and I so much needed this reminder.
Praying for full health for Anderson!

  66. Avis Cooper says:

Being a grandparent is a gift in itself from the hand of God. Our son’s 2 children were both premature…his first, a boy, was born near the end of the 2nd trimester at 1.5 lbs. We rushed 700 miles to get to see him and me first thought when I saw how small he was, “He’s smaller than some toys kids play with”. We were allowed to reach into the incubator and touch him but not pick him up. My husband laid hands on him and prayed. When he did that he noticed that his heart monitor did a huge jump, so he prayed again, and it did the same thing. We knew he was our miracle baby! During his stay at the Children’s Hospital he was sent up for surgery 4 times and each time they returned him saying there was nothing wrong. After discharge he was to return for surgery for a hernia. My son was told that all boys had to have that surgery without exception. Well, they returned at the appointed time and there was no need for that surgery. Our son was told that he was the first boy at that hospital who didn’t have that surgery. Praise God!! Well, Austin graduated from high school last year and is a healthy strapping young man…he’s over 6′ tall and one would never guess that he began life at 1.5 lbs. Sorry that this got so long but I felt I had to share how special it is to be able to pray for another generation. In praying you, too, will be blessed beyond measure.

  67. God bless little Anderson! When I open your post and saw his picture I squealed for joy. I’m so happy for you and your family.
    Congrats to J&J.

  68. Congratulations to all! Being a Grammy ( my grandmother name ) is truly the best give from God! Enjoy him!!

  71. Welcome to GiGi world. Not what we thought, our celebration would be about. iIts is he getting better today. I found myself in the same world almost 46 years ago in Dallas, Tx. One hospital in town with a NUI, with a 10 bed unit.

  72. What a beautiful baby boy with a wonderful name! I follow many stories of sick babies and am always thrilled and encouraged by the workings of God. So very grateful for answered prayer for your Anderson! My first grandbaby is 18 months old, and I’m telling you, each new word and antic brings so much joy! She has now learned to blow kisses over Facetime, and I smile so much, I’m sure my face might crack! Enjoy each day with this little fellow, for you know how fast they grow! xxoo

  73. Thank you, Lord, for this little angel. Welcome to the world, Anderson! You are fresh from God. May you always be a man after His heart.

May God continue to bless him and may his life bless you all! Such a beautiful blessing!!!

  75. So thrilled for you, Yvonne, and the entire family. Mega-congratulations! I’m glad our little boy is doing better now and will pray that he’ll continue to grow and thrive. You’re going to love be a grandma–as you’re already discovering. We have three granddaughters and one grandson–all under the age of 9. There are so many rewarding and loving days ahead for you! Just as was in the case of our own children (and I speak for both of us), you won’t believe how quickly they’ll grow!

  76. Congratulations GiGi. Welcome to the world Anderson!

  77. Yvonne, I know the blessing and love you have as I had the cutest first grandson, who still has my total heart and he is in college now! When he calls me, my heart still beats a little faster. 85. OH Yvonne, what an beautiful baby! I am so thankful he is going to be ok.

  89. Cathleen Brickhouse says:

Such a wonder our grand babies are! Congratulations on your sweet boy! I love the picture of him with one eye looking up at you! So cute! As each one of my sweetlings were born I was so filled with the joy, wonder and Thanksgiving of it all. I bought journals for each one of them (before each of their births) so that each person that was waiting with anticipation for the birth could write a welcome letter to him or her. We even played a game where each person gave their guesstimate of the time they would be born, the weight and length of the child. After they went home, through the years I have written down their accomplishments, their tears, funny things they said or did, verses that God laid on my heart to share with them, or thoughts or notes from sermons, books, Bible footnotes, etc. When it’s full or when the Lord takes me to be with Him, their books will be given to them. As 6 of 8 of my sweet ones live in other states, I can share part of our lives and the wisdom of God to them….with constant ‘I love you’ thoughts written to them. I know you will thoroughly enjoy this precious boy! ❤️

  90. Oh, what a precious gift from God. He is beautiful.

  91. Barbara Williams says:

Yvonne, you continue to inspire as God takes you and your family another step closer. Congratulations on your beautiful grandson!

  92. What a cutie :-). Congratulations !!!!!!! Get ready to have your heart melt MANY times…..so much so it will bring on unexpected tears! It happens so often for me when I watch my grandbabies at play….their facial expressions….when they learn new words…..when they run up to me and hug me (without being asked)! When you can actually have a conversation with a 3 year old :-). I thought I would never have grandchildren, then all of a sudden both my daughter and my son surprised us!!!! We now have a 1 year old, a 2 year old, and a 3 year old! Whew! We’ve been busy these last 3 years, but wouldn’t have it any other way. We are truly blessed. (I am ALSO called GiGi). :-). Enjoy!!! So very happy for you!!

  93. Congratulations and continued blessings to you, Yvonne and family! Your grandbaby is a cutie!

  94. Anne Marie says:

Beautiful baby – you and your family are truly blessed.

  95. Congratulations!!! Just this last week the lord put you and your daughter on my heart so I sent prayers to you. Glad to hear baby and his parents are doing well. So glad to know you all live close, it’s not fun not living close to your grandbabies. That was so great that you were able to be there and pray them through their first bump of parenthood. The joy you and Bobby must be experiencing along with Mom and Dad. What presious gift you all received and be blessed with this Thanksgiving and Christmas . Hugs
    Be Blessed.

    1. Pamela, Thank you so so much for being such a good friend to me! Even though we have never met I feel we are real friends. Your faithfulness to StoneGable means so much to me! xo

I, too, Welcome you to Club Grandma! God,s Love and Blessings to you and your family.

  98. Absolutely Precious and a Miracle from God. Congratulations to you all.

  99. Welcome to the “grandparent” club. Being a grandparent is wonderful! When our grandchildren were younger we had set up a large playroom for them plus had designated boy’s and girl’s guest bedrooms for their overnight visits. Just think of all of the decorating ideas to come with this newest family member. I know you will cherish your special gift from God as this infant brings great joy to your family.

  101. I remember my first grandchild’s birth as well. I walked with my daughter as our little boy had some serious health issues and even had surgery before nine months old. No one can ever understand that instant love affair you have with this tiny little person until they’ve experienced it. We care deeply and we pray hard. Our’s is now 7 and enjoying a robust life along with his 3 little brothers. We now have 8 grandchildren with one more on the way. Love stretches and grows as each one comes into our lives. Welcome to the fold of Grandmotherhood!

We, too, had our first grandson taken to Nic-U, and he spent a while in the hospital. He is now a handsome, healthy young man. He is a blessing to our family and he is about to graduate from college. Where did the time go? He calls us from college and when we hangs up he says, “I love you so, so much.” Melts our hearts. Prayers for you and yours.

  113. Well Anderson is quite the little charmer!!! Congrats to the new mommy and daddy and of course to Gigi! I could never understand just how special grandchildren are until I had one of my own. Magical in all lovely ways. Blessings to your beautiful family!

  114. Oh hAppy happy day! We had a little 3lb premie who stayed in for 18 days 45 years ago! I know how your daughter felt both blessed and afraid at the same time. I share the same birth date as Anderson. I am now 82 years old and I only weighed 5 lbs at birth as I arrived a little early also. Have had good health all thru the years and thank God for that. My only grandchild is now almost 18 years old and graduating this school year. What a joy he has been all the 18 years!

    1. Well, happy birthday to you, Nita! The 22nd is a wonderful day to be born!

  119. JoAnn Dare says:

You are in for the ride of your life! Our first grandson, Anderson(my maiden name) spent some time in the NICU also. He’s 14 now healthy and HARDY… all 5’8″ and 150 lbs of him! 120. Kittyluvr says:

Congrats Yvonne on this beautiful blessing from God! Praise for the delivery nurse who noticed he was having trouble breathing…her swift action made a difference in the life of Anderson. I thankful for all your blessing and that Anderson’s mom and dad relied on their faith during this trial. This will surely bless them as they raise this child.

  121. Congratulations! I’m a MeMe of 5 (3 grandsons & 2 granddaughters). I couldn’t understand loving anyone more than my own children (1 son & 2 daughters) until I had my 1st grandchild. Enjoy and God Bless your family!

  122. What a beautiful gift from God, Yvonne, Little boys are so precious! Blessings to all of your family! Congratulations!

  123. Claudia Benekam says:

    Precious!! Yvonne.
You are right about your life never being the same. It will be more wonderful than you could even imagine. I am sure you all demonstrated your testimony for the Lord during Anderson’s stay in the hospital.
We had a similar experience with our 4th grandchild. Our sweet Cate was in the Nic – U for 14 long days. Our family also experienced the blessings your family did. At that time, my daughter had 3 other young children all unde the age of 9. We all pulled together and God worked it out. My daughter stayed with her for many days until exhaustion set in. Then we were able to establish a schedule where one of us was with her around the clock. It became a special time and memory for us all. God has it all in control.
You will be a wonderful grandmother. I am sure you will be sharing many more memories with us. Grandchildren are the best!!!
    Claudia

  124. Linda Charlton says:

So glad all this had a positive outcome. One thing for sure, birth never goes as planned for any of us.

  127. “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His tender mercies never come to an end—they are new every morning, new every morning. . . great is your faithfulness oh Lord, great is your faithfulness.” Thanking God with you as someone who was formerly a worker in the NICU and now a missionary!

  128. Congratulations on your precious grandson! I have been blessed with four wonderful grandchildren, 3 boys and one girl! Our daughter had our first grandson when we were only 43 so we feel doubly blessed that hopefully we will be around to maybe meet our great grandchildren some day! She always knew she wanted lots of kids so we feel lucky! I describe grandkids as being the cherry on top! Your new one is so precious! I would love to snuggle with one that little again!

Congratulations to you and your entire family on the blessing of this beautiful child.

  131. Deborah D says:

Yvonne, your life will never be the same. Our first was born 17years ago this month. Being a Grammie has made my life richer. Now we have five from 17 to 5. The 5 year old had problems also. I learned then that its not uncommon with little boys. Often times they’re lazier about that.
Many blessings to you all and years of enjoyment spoiling that sweet little bundsle. Keeping you all in our prayers.

  132. GwenCondit says:

I was thinking of you posting posts daily. Putting things on Instagram and telling us great decor ideas and now my heart goes out to you. You kept up on all your work while your heartstrings were being stretched. Dear a Lord, Thank you for this child given to this family. Keep Anderson growing. Strong. And soon his lungs healthy and whole. Give all involved peaceful sleep. Especially Anderson. Thank you for our StoneGable blog leader who is an inspiration in testimony during trials and triumphs.
    In Jesus Name

  133. Sue Stevens says:

Awesome! Praise our God for such a blessing. My maiden name is also Anderson! If you think grandchildren are special, wait hold on for the joy when that wonderful blessing provides you with a great grandchild!! I have two of those and one on the way!! Oh the joy!! When our little Adelisa, now age 1, was born she had am-bionic band syndrome. She was missing some fingers and was told that she would not walk. But God!! She is being seen at the Shriners Hospital in Greenville, SC and with braces is now standing and walks when you hold her hand!! So many blessings and things to be thankful for.

    1. Don’t you love BUT GOD? His plans are so above and beyond what we can even think! I praise Him for your sweet Adelisa!

  134. Congratulations to you all. Blessings to your 1st grandchild, & when I’ve been asked when we first became grandparents how it feels, my response was ‘it’s instant love’. May you enjoy each moment, GiGi!

Congratulations on the birth of your precious grandson. Two of our grandsons were born early. They are 18 and 15 now and they are wonderful boys. There is nothing that compares to being a grandmother. They have your heart from the moment of conception. Enjoy him and treasure each moment. God bless.

  142. You know what? That is one cute baby boy! I know you will take deep breaths and enjoy every moment as he grows. It goes by so fast. My first grandchild will soon be playing in her 3rd State Volleyball Championship and we continue to savor every moment.
You have sssooo much too look forward to 🙂 Thank you for sharing and we all rejoice with you!

  143. Meg Hobbes says:

What a beautiful story! I am so thankful Anderson has done so well. God bless you all.
There is a question I ask “new” grandmas. The reason I ask it is because when I held my first grandchild for the first time, I was very aware of what I was feeling right at that moment, and it made me wonder if all grandmas felt like I did when they held their first grandchild for the first time.
So, Anita, how did you feel the first time you held Anderson? What was going through your head and through your heart? I would love to know your response.
    Again, God bless you all.
And P.S. Our 18th grandchild is expected in March of 2017. Praise the Lord!!!!

    1. Holding my grandson for the first time was overwhelming. He was less than one hour old and I was thinking this child is my child’s child. And he is also part of me! Of course we did lots of praying too!

  144. Oh, he is beautiful! You are experiencing one of the greatest JOYS ever, being a grandmother! Congratulations!

  145. MARY-ANN (FROM CANADA!) says:

Yvonne, so happy for you! What a precious little bundle of love God has given you to love and pray for. Such a sweet little guy! Just love his “big” name! We will pray that God will continue to heal Anderson. God Bless you all!

  146. Oh, Yvonne. What a little sweetie. It is amazing what they do to your heart, even if you have been forewarned! I have experienced the tenuous preemie situation, both as a mom and as a grandma. Without the Lord on our side, the rollercoaster of emotions and thoughts could really do us in. I will be praying that little Anderson will grow into his name’s meaning: a manly, brave warrior. God bless!

  147. Congratulations and God Bless!!

  148. Welcome to the wonderful world of being a grandma, Yvonne! The blessings u r already experiencing r beyond words. Like u, our first grandchild arrived early & he was in the NICU eleven days. What a faith-building time for all our family. He is almost eight years old now & his sweet Mama has had two more babies who were also born @ 36 weeks. We r all SO very thankful for the incredible doctors & NICU staff! May your precious little one touch all of your lives in amazing ways. As the song says, “A Baby Changes Everything”…especially the birth of the Lord. May u & your family have a blessed Thanksgiving & Christmas!

  149. What a wonderful story of this little bundle of love. Yvonne, I know your heart is bursting in joy and it brings back great memories of my one and only grand child as she came into the world. Welcome little Anderson, you will be much loved!!

  150. Congratulations! He’s adorable and so very precious!

  151. Karen Cadden says:

Congratulations-the grandma club is the best ever!

  152. Theresa Kleinschmidt says:

Congratulations to the Pratt household ,what a beautiful baby boy. Anderson is so blessed to have such wonderful grandparents. Enjoy everyday with your little miracle Yvonne, they grow all to fast. This past weekend we had the opportunity to have our two granddaughters spend the night with us. Wonderful memories were made ,the girls iced cupcakes, played in the freshly raked leaves in the yard, read their favorite story books, played hide and seek, and went to the attic and discovered hidden treasures from their Mom’s cildhood. Our children are our rainbows and are grandchildren are our pots of gold. God bless you and your family.

  153. Dearest Gigi…this Mimi to 5 knows the feelings you describe. Anderson will be loved by many but especially by you! So thankful the Lord is ever faithful and yours prayers are being answered!

  154. Edith Weldon says:

So happy about all of your blessings, especially your first grand!! Anderson is so fortunate and you are one proud GiGi!! We will continue to pray for him as well as y’all and all those NICU babies and their parents!! Our Father God is watching over all of us and we so appreciate Him all the time!! Welcome to the grands club!! I too always keep my wonderful grands close to me (5) & love our daughters even more because of them, along with their husband’s of course!! Have so much fun with him this wondrous holiday season!!

  155. Yvonne you will never be the same are great words. O the love of a Grandmother. Prayers for all of you. I have twelve on Earth and one with Heavenly Father. Such blessings never to be taken for granted. Congrats

  156. Oh my, a beautiful grandson. I told you nobody can describe the love of a grandchild until they are born. Your in a very elite club. My first grandson stayed in the general nursery for a week, that was stressful but the NICU is a completely different story. Thank the Heavenly Father ,you precious baby is home. Blessings .

  157. Congratulations to your family. Such a beautiful little boy. I truly understand the range of emotions you have experienced. My poor daughter-in-law just couldn’t seem to have a “normal” pregnancy but has given us 3 beautiful grandchildren. Their first daughter was born at 28 weeks. Ava will be 5 this month and is our healthy girly girl. Her sister, Ruthie was full term but we new early in the pregnancy that she had a heart block. She now has a pacemaker and much to her father’s dismay is our most adventurous and daring grandchild. She was three this past June. Our first grandson, Bennett, was born at five weeks early this past September and spent five days in the NIC-U. He is growing like a weed. Thankfully they have promised that three children is all they plan to have…lol. We tease them for what they put us through….. but always thank God for his many, many blessings. I shouldn’t leave out our other two granddaughters, Taylor and Claire. Just plain, old normal pregnancies…..whew. So happy for you and your family and the wonderful times ahead.

P.S. Yours is one of my favorite blogs 🙂

  158. Thank you for this beautiful post. God is good! Enjoy this time GiGi. You and your family are blessed….

  159. From one Gigi to another…Congratulations on your little blessing!

  165. Beverly Brown says:

Grandchildren are an incredible and priceless gift from God. To watch your children raise them up to be strong in their Faith and servers of Christ is an added blessing. We had 2 sons and now have 2 amazing daughter-in-laws, 6 granddaughters and 1 grandson, ages 13 to 15 months. They are our ultimate joy. We are so blessed and praise the Lord everyday for his goodness and grace.

May Anderson be the first of many to fill your beautiful home and family with years of happiness and blessings.

I enjoy your blog and the passion and love of home and family that you share. Special Blessings to you all.

  166. Welcome to the best club ever, “Grandparents Club”. There is nothing like it! Grandson’s always melt grandmother’s heart, I have 5 grandson’s and my heart is overflowing!! God Bless Anderson and his family.

  167. Congratulations GiGi Yvonne to you and your family! Anderson is a beautiful baby boy and a very special blessing. He’s very photogenic for his young age too! 🙂

We were twice blessed in August of 2014 with our 1st & 2nd grandchildren . . . twin girls! They were born 4 weeks early, the larger one Sadie (4 lbs 15 oz) did fine but her little sister Lily (4 lbs 2 oz) also had slightly underdeveloped lungs and spend a week in the NICU. Not the plan they had envisioned either. Mommy & Sadie on one floor of the hospital and little Lily up in the NICU, where Sadie was not allowed to go until she was released from the hospital. Once Mommy & Sadie were released it was many trips back and forth from home to hospital to spend time with Lily. So tiring and stressful! However like your J and J, my son and daughter-in-law took it all in stride, counted their blessings and were also very thankful that Lily was also one of the healthiest in the NICU.

Now the girls are very busy two year old toddlers . . . their parents are still tired and stressed but also twice blessed! 🙂

  168. Oh how precious is this grand baby and how wonderful are Gods plans for us. Congratulations to your family from Alabama. While you are praying for and praising this wonderful gift, please pray for one for my family. My son and his wife so want a child so badly and it appears it just isn’t going to happen for them – I’m praying for a miracle.

  169. Yvonne – Congratulations on your Angel Baby! He is precious. BUT GOD – These are words that I always speak – HE is awesome, present, faithfull and ALWAYS so good! Praise HIS name!

  170. Your new grandbaby is just beautiful! I know the days he spent in the hospital were very hard for you and your family. I’m so happy for you and so thankful that your daughter has the Lord in her life to give her His strength and peace.

  178. Anne Marie Petralia says:

Congratulations on being a grandmother. He is beautiful and you are indeed blessed. The strength your daughter showed was such a wonderful testament to how well you raised her. Blessings to your whole family and welcome to the wonderful world of being a grandparent.

  179. Congratulations!! Anderson is beautiful! I have two grand children; Lane age 4, Aavah age 2 1/2, I too will never be the same person ? Our grandson was born with a rare genetic disorder; MECP2, basically his DNA duplicated itself. The doctors told his all these things Lane will never be able to do but as we know theirs a Great Physician! Lane can sit up now and hold his sippy cup, this is a huge accomplishment! He’s still working on learning to walk & talk, God willing it will happen. The greatest blessing is that Lane is a happy child! He always smiles and he loves his little sister Aavah (she is crazy about him) and he can ‘communicate’ his needs to his parents & I without the spoken word. When he was diagnosed after birth I never dreamed I could look at any part of his diagnosis as a blessing but our God is good and Lane is truly a gift from God!

  180. Congratulations to the whole family! Anderson is a BEAUTIFUL BABY! I am so very happy to read about your daughter’s wisdom in the situation that confronted the family. It made me pray for all of you immediately. GOD is GOOD! The new parents will treasure their miracle all the more for his first “adventure” in the world. May God bless you all! Enjoy being GiGi! (LOVE that name!)

  181. Such a beautiful little boy! Thank you for sharing these personal moments with us. Our tiniest blessings are often the mightiest. All the best to the new parents.

  187. Yvonne…what a beautiful little boy and blessing for your family. The holidays will certainly bring a lot more joy for your family.
Can’t wait for the day I am a Nana.

  188. Congratulations! And make sure to take care of baby’s Mommy, too, it can take a long time to process emotions and recover from a traumatic birth- especially for a first time mom. But, who am I talking to? I bet you are already on top of that 🙂

  189. Beverly Robertson says:

I have just discovered u on Pinterest. And yes we speak the same language. I am on vacation at the moment for a few days of get away and recharging and was having my quiet time while my husband slumbers. I love just the little I have begun to read. The memorization verse is wonderful… one I have been praying for my adult children and myself. I want to be closer to the Father. ❤️ This is in response to the precious pic of your grandson. What a precious angel…. truly a blessing!!!! I am not sure how old he is now but pray he is well. Now I plan to delight myself in reading all the wonderful posts I see from u. 192. Yvonne, I’ve been a reader of your blog since the beginning. Congratulations on an absolutely beautiful grandson. We have three grandsons and they have made our world full of wonder and joy in our ‘old age’! 🙂 We pray for them, too, that they will love God with all their minds, strength and heart. But I have to share that your post touched me in another way too. I have recently been diagnosed with cancer–it has turned our world upside down. But we believe God is sovereign and while there have been many detours and bumps in the road, I loved what your daughter said to you. I get discouraged easily, but am trying to look for ways to praise Him–simply because of who He is and for His love and care for me. I was glad to be reminded of the phrase “But God”. He can do far more than we ask or think. Thanks for posting.

  193. Lanita Anderson says:

Congratulations on your new grandson! He is so precious and I know you and your family are thankful for his arrival and for the new addition to your family! I love his name – I’ve always thought it was great when people have a maiden name they can use as a name for their children. Blessings to little Anderson and to you and your family…..

Thank you for being bold in your faith and being willing to be transparent in your trials. Thank you for counting, and listing, your blessings! Our God is good, all the time, even when it doesn’t look like it to our finite minds!

My first grand baby (a boy) just turned 15 months. They are a taste of Heaven, here on Earth, aren’t they?

How is Anderson doing?Praying for you all, right now!

  206. Yvonne – Congrats on little Anderson, the one you have been waiting on and praying for! Babies are blessings in life. Anderson has a special GiGi, too! He will change you in ways you’ve never imagined and you will be a great influence in his life. My maternal grandmother was a darling – and I tagged her GeeGee. All the cousins followed suit and we called her this term of endearment all of her long life. She was special in my life while growing up, and I cherish all she taught me.

  207. Congratulations! I love his name and he certainly is adorable. I am hoping and praying with time
he will lose all his special medical concerns and be a happy healthy little guy. I have one grand daughter
Lily and I know what you mean. She is the light of my life!

Congratulations’ He is precious. Thankful that he is home. Enjoy him. Grandchildren and great-grandchildren are a wonderful blessing. I have 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and another one due in June 2017.

  209. Your daughters response shows you have done a good job.. MANY are being blessed by your faith. We all have to work together to encourage and build up each other. So glad there are different ways to do this. Thanks for helping so many others.

  210. I don’t know how I missed this blog article until now – – too busy I guess. I was going back through this month’s articles to make sure I hadn’t missed any. I’m glad I did.

He is so beautiful and precious and I hope by now all is well and that the whole family has a wonderful first Thanksgiving and Christmas with him.

  211. Congratulations! What a beautiful family you have. God has big plans for your bundle of joy. Enjoy!
