BRIDAL VEIL TABLESCAPE

BRIDAL VEIL TABLESCAPE- A TABLE SET FOR A BEAUTIFUL BRIDE AND LOTS OF TABLESCAPING TIPS

Today, I have a fantasy tablescape for you! It’s a table about a special flower and a swath of pearl seeded bridal veil and a special dinner. I think this is the most ethereal tablescape I have ever created. And special to my heart. This tablescape has a story! The table covering is actually a portion of my very own cathedral bridal veil. Today I’m celebrating all the brides-to-be and sharing tips for setting the most exquisite table!

I’m joining a group of fabulous bloggers to bring you a new tablescape every month. Make sure to check out their amazing tablescapes at the end of this post!

The table is set with a white on white theme. White plates with intricate lace-like edges, vintage silver, white vases and a white netting length of bridal veil. My grandmother, Nani, bought this veil for my wedding day.

My 12 foot long veil was disassembled and cut so that the veil could be used for my daughter’s wedding veil too.

Here I am wearing my veil over 33 years ago….

And here is my daughter wearing a piece of my veil fashioned into her bridal veil over 8 years ago…

When I think of “our” bridal veil I love this picture the best…

How sweet is this?

And here is the long remaining piece of veil falling in swirls and folds on our concrete table!

We will not be eating here! This is just a table set for YOU!

There’s another “bridal veil” at this table too. It’s the beautiful sprays of white delicate blooms. This gorgeous shrub grows around the front corner of our porch and blooms every year about this time. Spiraea is the real name of this fluffy, dreamy white shrub that produces long arching branches of gorgeous, lace-like blooms!

The Bridal Veil blooms are gathered up in a simple white container and used as the centerpiece. And little white milk bottles of these flowers dot the table too.

Each place is set with a stack of my favorite white dishes that are embellished with intricate edges.

And each stack of white dishes are topped with a rolled white napkin slipped into a pearl seeded napkin ring that gives a nod to the pearls on the bridal veil!

Here’s a tablescaping tip… If you don’t have enough of the same dishes to set a table, don’t worry!!!! Use different dishes of the same color or “feel” together. You table will look so much more interesting.

I used 5 different and unique white dishes for this table. Not every place setting looks the same, but because all the dishes were white and have beautiful edges they work together to make this magical table!

The silver plated flatware has been collected from flea markets and antique shops. Silver plate can be picked up so reasonably these days! I did not polish the silver for this table, but let its luminous patina show!

I buy silver plate patterns I love! I have 3 partial sets and mix the flatware patterns together. I think it’s more interesting to mix things up a little! Another StoneGable tip!

Here are 3 different silver patterns on the Bridal Veil table.

Another bride is represented at my table. These stunning goblets on the Bridal Veil table were my Nani’s. They were her wedding crystal and they were passed down to me. I never saw them used by my grandmother. She would take them out of her china cabinet and proudly show me, but we never used them. I adore these amazing goblets but have a different take on using them… I USE them!

They are “things” to be enjoyed and when we use them we remember my wonderful grandmother!

I mixed Nani’s wedding crystal with my everyday Mikasa French Country goblets just to show you how easy it is to mix patterns and how beautiful a table of mixed patterns can be!

I added a trio of mercury glass candlesticks flanking the vase of Bridal Veil blooms.

Did you notice that one of the candlesticks does not have a candle on it? It’s there for architectural weight. I love this look!

Mercury glass with white is gorgeous!

  1. Yvonne, that tablescape is simply stunning. It is absolutely gorgeous!!!

  2. Vicky from Athens says:

That has to be one of the most beautiful table settings I’ve ever seen! It also gives me an idea of what I might do with my bridal veil – actually it’s a cathedral length mantilla.

  3. So pretty! The spiraea looks gorgeous on your beautiful table! Loved seeing you and your daughter in your wedding dresses. My dress looked almost exactly like yours (38 years ago)! Same sleeves and neckline 🙂 Beautiful tablescape!!

  4. Love the place setting, where did you get your charger plates?

    1. You have asked one the most asked questions of me. I have bad news. I  got these dishes at HomeGoods years ago. I have not seen them for a long time. There is only a “b” on them. One of my readers knew the mark and gave me some info. You can find it here:  https://www.stonegableblog.com/5-questions-you-asked-stonegable-2/. Hope this helps a little.

  5. Absolutely lovely! You are a master of “mixology,” mixing different patterns together. I love that you inspire us to combine patterns too!

  6. Amazing and absolutely breathtaking! Love everything especially all the mix patterns used.

  7. Yvonne, Your special meaningful table is just gorgeous!! Loved seeing your wedding pic, as well… 🙂 How wonderful that your daughter wore your veil, and also that there was plenty left for this stunning table!! Thanks for sharing it with us!

I am so thankful that we are using these things again that have special meaning to us. This is my favorite post you have done. LOVE the wedding pictures!

  14. Absolutely stunning! I love all your ideas, we celebrated our 40th anniversary last
September but we didn’t have time for a celebration as we were getting ready for our son’s wedding in Japan (he lives there) they had the most beautiful traditional Japanese wedding (that is another story another time) Would love to use my veil and recreate a special surprise dinner for our anniversary. Thank you so much for posting this special table setting1

So beautiful! It makes me think that maybe after fifty years this coming November 19th that maybe I should open that sealed box and salvage what I can of my dress and vail. If there is anything I can use, I would love to make a keepsake for my two granddaughters just in case I am not here when they get married.

  16. Missy M - A Shade Fancier says:

    Brillante ocurrencia!!!

  43. Thanks for bringing back childhood memories of this beautiful bush ….I grew up on the farm in Central Illinois with these .. Think the correct spelling is Spirea.
