APPLE CRISP IN A MASON JARS

APPLE CRISP IN MASON JARS-Classic, scrumptious apple crisp in cute jars!- A very fun fall dessert-stonegableblog.com

Fall is the perfect time to use all those in-season apples and make scrumptious apple crisp! And the only way to make it better is to make this classic dessert in mason jars! So easy and just so cute! Apple crisp in mason jars are a great totable sweet treat for lunches, tailgates, picnics or just to keep on hand! Most of us could make this recipe with what we have in our pantries and frig. So, let’s get out the ingredients and begin!

Make sure to fill the jars all the way to the top with apples and then top that off each with some of the crisp. When the apple crisp comes out of the oven, the apples will have cooked down and the whole thing will sink in a bit. Perfect if you want to put a scoop of ice cream on the top of it.

Or, like I do, add the extra crumbly crisp I cook along with the apple crisp and add it to to the jars once the whole thing cools just a tad.

Either way, it’s delicious!

Ready for the oven!

A perfect apple recipe for a crisp fall day!

APPLE CRISP IN A JAR

For Apple Layer:
6 sour-sweet apples, like MacIntosh or Granny Smith. Peeled and chopped into small pieces
1 1/2 TBS fresh squeezed lemon
1/2 cup sugar
2 TBS flour
1/4 tsp cinnamon
dash of nutmeg

For Crisp:
1 1/4 cups flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
12 TBS or 1 1/2 sticks refrigerated butter, Cut into small cubes

10 4oz. Mason jars, buttered

Preheat oven to 350°

Add lemon to the apples as you cut them in a large bowl. Add the sugar and flour to the apples and mix to coat. Pack apples into the buttered Mason jars to the top.

Put all the crisp ingredients into a bowl and using your fingers kneed the butter through the mixture until it resembles crumbles. Top each Mason jar with the crumple crisp mixture. Put the leftover crumble on a line baking sheet.

Bake the apple crisp for 30-35 minutes until the crisp on the top is golden brown. Bake the crumbly crisp on the baking sheet for about 15 minutes until it is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let the apple crisp sit for 10 minutes. The apples will have cooked down and there should be the perfect space to add a scoop of ice cream. Or you can add the crumbly crisp from the baking sheet to top off each apple crisp.

YUMMY!
